    It’s amazing how quickly this movie goes from a kinda sappy movie about friendship to a brutal and gory revenge fantasy.

    "I had secret communications with your wife determining your citrus preferences," would be one hell of a reveal line in some kind of convoluted murder mystery.

    Seen it. Have you guys seen King Kong vs Godzilla. A Godzilla film that pits him against the 8th wonder of the world, King Kong. I like the film, I watched with my dad and we bonded while watching it.

  • @GonzoCiosain
    @GonzoCiosain 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    You would expect a band in the late 80's called "Dragon Sound" to be over-the-top power metal.
    Miami Ninjas: like The Hand from "Daredevil" but far less intimidating and with 100% more stupid cocaine.

  • @SpiderDijon2

    Speaking of Hot Fuzz, I watched a feature on the dvd of Pegg and Wright talking about writing it. Simon Pegg's character originally had a love interest, but they ultimately decided Nick Frost's character was enough of a love interest on his own. I compare this unfavourably with Guy Richie's Sherlock Holmes which introduced Irene Addler for no other reason than to demonstrate to the audience that Holmes isn't gay. A view, I think, supported by the fact they immediately kill her off in the second film. I only bring this up because of Matt's frequently expressed antipathy for superfluous romance.

    • @DrLipkin
      @DrLipkin 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not only did they do away with the love interest, they transferred most of her lines directly to Danny without any changes.

    Went to see this movie this summer, and I found it incredible that, despite the density of the jokes in the episode, there's still tons to see in the whole film! They omit the fact that Dragonsound's song that Matt said is their best has a chorus that is "Against the Ninja," BEFORE the Dragonsound guys know that there are ninjas in Miami.

    This was a fantastic episode! I laughed way too much, and I can't wait to find this movie and make my brother watch it with me. While I'm thinking about Ninjas, have you guys seen Surf Ninjas? It's one of the silliest movies ever made, starring a young Rob Schneider and Ernie Reyes Jr. It was a staple of my childhood.

    Have you seen "Anne of Green Gables" from 1985? The movie won numerous awards and I was a big fan of the books as a kid. The story is set in Canada and the characters are well developed, but be warned, it is a bit long. I can't bring myself to watch the netflix remake because the original was so darn good.
    Separately, have you heard of the Bechdel test? I would love to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks for delivering such a delightful program. My husband and I are big fans.

    My best guess regarding the title is that it's a nod to The French Connection, and perhaps by extension, The Chinese Connection, which was the title Fist of Fury was released in the US under (though ironically, that title was intended for the export of The Big Boss, which actually involves the drug trade; the switch-up was accidental).
