It looks like a close intimate jazz concert in classic version. I like it.
The Yellow Lounge might be OK but that's more than can be said for the recording ...

Deutsche Grammophon: The sound quality is shockingly bad and does a disservice to the reputation of Deutsche Grammophon. Yes, I realize it’s recorded in a club environment, but sonically excellent results can be achieved in acoustically bad rooms. This is no way to promote a big young talent like Seong-Jin Cho. His recorded performances at the 2015 Chopin Competition sound vastly better than what is presented here, and I recommend people check them out on TH-cam to hear what Seong-Jin Cho really is capable of .
지금 도입부만 한 열번 듣는거 같아요 ㅜㅜ 진짜 저런 도입부는 조성진 밖에 없을 겁니다. 오른손 솔솔솔 진짜 별이 또르르 굴러가는 것 같고 이어 왼손 안정감 있게 받쳐주면서 들어오는 데... 하 진짜 조성진을 어쩌면 좋아용 쇼팽 발라드는 조성진이 정말 끝내주네요 ^^
저렇게 적나라하게 드러나는 소리에서도 아름다움을 찾을수있다는게 대단한거다.
원래 일반인이 피아노를 칠때 상당부분이 소리의 풍성함에 진짜 실력이 가려지기마련인데 저건 그냥 정말 다 보여주고있는거임.
생각하고보니 정말 대단한 조성진이구나싶네

집에 할 일이 산더미인데 ... 아이들은 학교가고 집에 홀로 남아 시작전에 우두거니 앉아 들어요.
많이 들었는데. 발라드 중에서 가장 좋아하는데 잊고 지내던 친구에게 오랫만에 연락 온 듯 반갑게 들었어요.
혼신을 다해 마무리하는 코다를 여러번 반복해서 봤고 나도 오늘 열심히 지내야지 해요 .
No other piece can convey the feeling of true heartbreak as accurately as this ballade. Every passage perfectly reflects the different emotions a person may come across after being scarred by love.
The song is based on The Three Brothers Budrys, a poem by Chopin's friend adam mickiewicz. The poem is about a father who sends his three sons to war, but instead they return home with three Polish brides. The main theme repeats in three variations representing the three brothers - 1, the waltz section in the first three minutes; 2, the contrapuntal section; 3, the polyrythymic section preceding the D-major theme. I think the D-major theme represents the homecoming feast. I don't believe the song is about heartbreak, but rather, about unexpected triumph.
I love Seongjin's ballade no.4...actually love every piece he plays.
이 곡이 날 쇼팽에 빠지게해서 몇년째 헤어나오지 못하고 있는데.. 뭐, 굳이 이 팍팍한 세상에서 헤어나올 필요는 없지만, 너무 힘들고 외로운 오늘같은 날 힐링할려고 일부러 조성진 연주 보는데 쇼팽이 환생한건가 진짜 진지하게 생각하다가 갑자기 설레임. 진짜 미치게 좋다 격하게 아낀다 태어나줘서 고맙다 안태어났으면 어쩔뻔 아 ㅣ나

Introspective, personal conversation with the piano and with us. Exactly what the composer intended, I believe. Very close and heartfelt, marvelous range and so many personal and gorgeous moments. I'd never heard of this musician before. Wherever he came from, thank you for giving him to us.
Seong-Jin Cho is a South Korean pianist who won many awards including winning the 2015 Chopin Competition. You can find many AWESOME videos of him playing Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven, Debussy and more.

조성진은 악보에 아주 아주 충실하게 치는 것 같다. 악보 그대로~ 작곡가가 원하던 그대로~
작곡자의 의도를 최대한 살리면서 해석을 하는 것 같다.
그래서 듣던 곡들과 조금 다르게 느껴지기도 하는 것 같다.
건반 터치의 정확함은 말할 것도 없고, 강약 조절은 마법사라 할 만한다.
완벽한 테크닉이다.
조성진이 연주한 곡이 그 곡의 표준이다.

What a creative Chopin ballade No.4! I can feel the taste of this song, which is very contemplative, and on the other hand, I can feel the comfort of sitting in a coffee-scented cafe and spacing out without thinking!

Excellent! One of the finest interpretations of this work in my opinion. It goes without saying that these young rising stars have total command of the keyboard and play with expression. I wonder, though can the profession support this ever rising number of talented pianists. My piano teacher, back in the 1960s once said that 'pianists are thick upon the ground and are usually brilliant by the time they are thirteen'. Too true, I fear and most of them are lost to obscurity.
That's true of any field. You need to have not just talent but luck.

200 00 사연이 있는 곡은 마음속으로 그림을 그려라고 저는 그렇게 배웠어요 아마 조성진같은 거장도 비슷할 것 같아요 언어의 한계를 넘어선 상상력으로 음악을 그려가지 않을까요
사실 연습을 너무 많이 해서 곡에 애정은 가지고 있을 수 있어도 자기 연주에 감동을 받을 순 없대요... 슬픈운명..

쇼팽 발라드곡은진짜대단한거같다.. 솔직히 1번부터 4번하나씩다들어보면서 1번곡외에는딱히별생각없었는데..계속들으면들을수록 2번 3번 4번까지 발라드전부가모두명곡이다..
진아 ㅇㅈ 1번부터 시작인데 1번이 진짜 제일 좋은줄 알았지만 나머지 2,3,4번이 더 좋은곡이였음ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

It's funny that the interview by SJ. Cho for this ballade published by the same channel has the most incredible piano sound but this performance sounds like midi recording as others have pointed out.
The acoustics in the room (or the recording setup) is so dry.
Sounds like it was recorded with a Playskool "Mr. Microphone", unfortunately.
The video was uploaded in mono, making everything seem dry. I'm pretty sure it's not the room's fault, neither it's the microphone's fault.

라이브로 들을 땐 이정도 음향까진 아니었는데 도이치 그라모폰에서 따로 음향 손보고 완전 기계음이 되버림 ㅋㅋ라이브 영상 녹화해서 올려둔 영상들은 모두 저작권 위반으로 썰어버려서 이 영상밖에 못들음.. 차라리 음향 손대지 말지ㅜㅜ

As an addendum to my comment below: he gets a beautiful sound out of the piano despite the fact that piano was not, in my estimation, a beautiful piano. Àt higher volume, the sound was a bit harsh and clanging but I fault the instrument and/or the acoustics. For example, I would LOVE to hear him on a Bluthner..

@@segmentsAndCurves actually i did not mean the bass Accompaniment in left hand，but he played accent in notes E flat and C， which are not the origin chopin‘s accent. （chopin origin are c and b flat）
