Yes for real but the only person who is actually the best interpreter of Chopin is krystian zimerman. His version feels like it's actually played by Chopin himself, it can't be any better. Go and have a listen to it...
I have to say he’s got the refined level of technique that is the corner stone for his incredible expression of mad emotions and feelings that ain’t gifted for every pianists he’s sense of music and interpretation are pure talent..😮
I highly liked the ending, usually in other recordings, the final notes are accentuated so the notes we are supposed to hear more are the bass D flat and the high F, but in this performance what kept ringing was the D flat major chord although it was written as an accacciatura and I thought the end was so sweet but also someway melancholic, because of the quiet high F, it’s almost like this scherzo end like a farewell (accompanied with the clapping from the audience praising his performance) instead of something more daring and brillant like how we would emphasize the last notes at the very end, I find it very befitting that it moved me to tears. I also highly liked the last arpeggios, we could hear the notes without the pedal, I tend to hear a lot of performances using the pedal fully to maybe help playing these arpeggios more legato, but it sounded like myriad of diamonds embellishing the end, it was truly remarkable.
I was so lucky to watched him playing at Kennedy Center in early spring in 2019. I fell in love ever since, and have been watching only his performances . He is an amazing pianist.

정열적이면서도 냉정하기도하고 정제된 섬세함과 유려한 세련됨이 느껴지는 연주입니다. 특히 고음을 강하게 연주하는부분에서도 소리가 뭉그러지고 납작한소리가 나지않고 음이 하나하나 살아서 동그라고 탄력있고 선명한소리를 내는데 .... 그런 완벽함에 소름이 돋는 느낌이네요. 근데 그걸 너무 쉽게 하는 느낌. 그게 멋있네요.
I really liked him from the I stage and I don't regret it. He is so young but still very mature, calm and he understand what he is playing. He creates beautiful harmony and mood. Pure magic. I hope he will be in the finales because he really deserves it! :)
It was the most beautiful scherzo I've ever heard. Seong jin cho's performance was not like a competition. It was really a top pianist's performance. It was such a perfect and beautiful performance from start to finish.
I couldn't agree more. Despite the nervousness and adrenaline he must have felt, there's not a single note he rushed or failed to articulate. I have never heard such a good Scherzo No.2 and I cannot imagine how this performance could ever be improved upon. Sure, there is the very last note he missed, but instead of viewing it as a mistake with a negative influence on the performance, it (for me personally) attaches a certain sense of personality and uniqueness to it, which I wouldn't want to miss, even though it is objectively a mistake.
Transcendental interpretation. CHO is one of the rare who keeps in mind it’s a scherzo, hence destined for bourgeois salons in the first place. Listen and see he masters de fff of Chopin, rendering them a bit dampered whereas so many pianists play the piece like a brilliant piano concerto finale. Wonderful pianist.
His control of dynamics and the way he always maintains a beautifully clean tone is just a pleasure to listen to. He even manages to throw in a few surprises at just the right moment. Love that final note, intentional or not!
@@animeencatala7671 I really don’t think it was intentional. That would be a very unorthodox way to end the piece and would go against what Chopin wrote. You can barely hear it, it was just one little fluke in an otherwise stellar performance
This is the best of the 4 scherzos. When I heard this as a teenager, it grabbed me instantly and I had to learn it. Did he break the high F during the coda? It wouldn't be the first time a top Chopinist broke a string playing a Chopin scherzo..
Such a masterpiece composed by Chopin, before the end he managed to add even more unexpected tension several times before the musical eruption finally takes place. Plus, fantasticly played by Cho.
When we play music, we can feel it in our souls 💕 I love watching his face while he plays, because we can see how much it flows through him. Amazing and beautiful job.

I don't understand this obsession some people have about Chopin's music being sad, as if that is the primary basis in which to enjoy his music. Yes, much of it is emotionally "moving" and worthy of admiration, but this emphasis on the "suffering" of poor Chopin, his health problems and his anguish over the political problems in Poland etcetera just demeans the work into cheap theatrical sentimentality and contributes to the exaggerated facial contortions that the public must suffer while watching many young pianists show their angst with such theatricality. The LangLang school of obnoxious performance.
Bravo!!! Usually I never sit thru the whole Scherzo performances since its so well known, but I have to say I was captivated every moment from beginning to end. Every melody, every section of the piece played with poignancy and deep thought, I never thought steinway could be played this melodically. Knowing Chopin always worked with female vocals and bringing that singing tone in all his music, he would have been very proud of the performance. I can see why Seong Jin Cho was 1st. I really enjoyed this performance, thank u.
Well, in my book, this is one of the most uninhibited masterworks possible. Cosmic; like a blazing quasar clean escaped from the last great black hole! I have mentioned to a few people how Chopin’s sickly physical constitution was totally belied by his heroic feats of pianistic prowess and concepts. This pianist seems to have transcended beyond all human limitations to achieve feats of artistry most virtuosos only dream of. If I had a pianist bucket list he would surely be in the top five. Wunderkind! Pwg

피아노가 정말 하나도 힘이 들어가 있지 않고, 마치 구슬이 굴러가듯 경쾌 하네요. 하지만 표정을 보면 마치 권투 선수가 비장한 각오로 싸움에 임하듯 그런 표정입니다. 그만큼 오랫동안 준비하고 연습했겠지요.

I don't understand this obsession some people have about Chopin's music being sad, as if that is the primary basis in which to enjoy his music. Yes, much of it is emotionally "moving" and worthy of admiration, but this emphasis on the "suffering" of poor Chopin, his health problems and his anguish over the political problems in Poland etcetera just demeans the work into cheap theatrical sentimentality and contributes to the exaggerated facial contortions that the public must suffer while watching many young pianists show their angst with such theatricality. The LangLang school of obnoxious performance.

Bravo!!! Usually I never sit thru the whole Scherzo performances since its so well known, but I have to say I was captivated every moment from beginning to end. Every melody, every section of the piece played with poignancy and deep thought, I never thought steinway could be played this melodically. Knowing Chopin always worked with female vocals and bringing that singing tone in all his music, he would have been very proud of the performance. I can see why Seong Jin Cho was 1st. I really enjoyed this performance, thank u.

Well, in my book, this is one of the most uninhibited masterworks possible. Cosmic; like a blazing quasar clean escaped from the last great black hole! I have mentioned to a few people how Chopin’s sickly physical constitution was totally belied by his heroic feats of pianistic prowess and concepts. This pianist seems to have transcended beyond all human limitations to achieve feats of artistry most virtuosos only dream of. If I had a pianist bucket list he would surely be in the top five. Wunderkind! Pwg
