피아노 전공자인데 조성진 님이 연주한 이 음악 듣고 머리를 망치로 한 대 얻어 맞은 듯한 느낌을 받았어요. 음대생이라면 이 곡, 다 한 번씩은 연주해봤을 텐데 페달링을 이렇게 해석한 연주자는 정말 드물어요. 그런데 심지어 그 부분이 튀지 않고 곡에 잘 녹아들어가죠. 넘사벽. 그 자체. 천재는 이런 거구나,... 합니다.
햐 정말 멋있다. 어렸을때 전국 콩쿨 나갔었는데 나는 그 대회에서 수상하지못했지만 조성진이 전체대상을 받았었다. 영상을 봤는데 . 초등학생들이 치는 흔한 곡이 아니라서 그런지 그당시엔 되게 신기한 곡을 친다고 생각했다. 더 신기한건 연주 도중 하늘을 올려다 보는게 너무 독특해서 영상을 몇번이고 돌려봤던 기억이있다. 어렸을때부터 감정이 풍부했던것 같다. 그 옆모습의 볼살 아직도 생생히 기억난다.

The way he tells stories through his music is simply extraordinary. Every time I tell myself to listen for 2-3 mins of his playing, it makes me keep listening till the end. His phrasing is so uncanny that it keeps the listener wanting to keep listening without leaving. In one word - CAPTIVATING
My favorite thing about this piece is how different yet equally incredible a lot of interpretations are, especially during the coda. There are so many emotions coming out at once; contempt, sadness, rage, delusion, despair - that each person will experience to a different extent. This performance in particular brings out the anger and tragedy in this piece to a level that is frankly; indescribable.

Whereas that piece convicts you with feelings of retribution and anger, the ballades emphasize the suffocating grief - and sorrowful longing for his people. Truly, the legacy of Chopin's work is that of his nation's, and to divorce the two would be unthinkable
This is certainly one of the finest interpretations of this piece that has ever been recorded. His brilliance in conveying the poetic component of the music to each listener in his/her own way is nearly impossible to replicate. An astounding performance of a piece that not only requires technical mastery but also emotional maturity -- demonstrated nearly flawlessly here and in many of his other performances.
He is a talented, skillful pianist, but has to little idea of the Polish folklore on which this ballad is based. This piece is not about virtuoso performances, but about the mood and emotions. As a Pole, I don't hear what I should. Listen to the performances of Krystian Zimerman and Janusz Olejniczak, although you probably won't understand what's going on. For foreigners, this piece is quite hermetic. Just hopeless business.
I've listened to many pianist's playing. Although the colors of Seong-Jin Cho are clear, he plays as if each original composer played it. Why? This is the result of his complete interpretation of the music. It seems that the original Chopin played it himself. But even if you listen, Seong-Jin Cho's performance is strong enough to notice. He plays a different dimension that cannot be found in other pianists. He has so much sophisticated, smart and clean soul.

쇼팽의 곡 중에서도 발라드 1번은 내가 가장 좋아하는 곡 중 하나인데, 곡 자체로도 선율이 아름답고 우수에 넘치게 하는 감수성을 지녔다. 조성전이 그 느낌을 정말 잘 살린듯하다. 피아노를 쳐 본 사람은 알겠지만 어떻게 건반을 누르느냐에 따라 강약, 당연히 흐름에 따라 전해지는 울림도 다른데 이에 따른 감동도 그때그때마다 다르다. 난 기분이 좋았을 때 이 곡을 들으면 춤추고 싶었고 우울했을 때는 울고 싶었다.
probably one of my most fav pianists ever.. he always plays with such emotional and technical depth. he has opened my mind to the true mysteries and beauty of Chopin’s compositions and inspired me to play this piece.
This is the strongest interpretation of Ballade 1 !!! poetic, passionate, perfect articulation. This young man is born with the touch. You have to be born with it and he has it !!
incredible phantastic interpretation - untill now my favorite pianist for Chopin was (and still is) Krystian Zimmerm but Seong-Jin Cho as a bright shining star att the classical sky is absolutely convincing. Superb interpretation. Thanks for posting, please more of this sympathic pianist

ㅎㅎ 그거를 가지고도 뭐라 하는 사람이 있나보군요... 작곡가의 의도 이외의 무언가를 굳이 표현하지는 않지만, 그것은 로봇 같다기 보다 오히려 작곡가의 의도를 완벽하게 흡수하여 작곡가와 연주자가 혼연일체 되었다는 표현이 더 맞겠군요. 다시 한 번 조성진 씨의 곡 해석 능력에 박수를 보냅니다.

@@Stampey2 Im not sure we are thinking about the same thing. For me passion when it comes to classical music especially romanticism - CHOPIN it's not just facial expressions. Even this kind of thinking is so basic and it just shows that people without musical background don't understand it. I'm a musician, violinist. So it's weird for me. That's it.

I love his playing. He tickles you with light notes, then pours soft silky creamy serene notes, and sets you by a waterfall with stronger yet cascading notes and so on, it's beautiful ❤️

The way he tells stories through his music is simply extraordinary. Every time I tell myself to listen for 2-3 mins of his playing, it makes me keep listening till the end. His phrasing is so uncanny that it keeps the listener wanting to keep listening without leaving. In one word - CAPTIVATING

쇼팽 발라드1번 너무너무 좋아하는데 성진씨꺼 듣고 나서 다른 연주자꺼 못듣게됐어ㅠㅠ 잘 친다라는 표현으로는 설명할 수 없는 건 당연하고 무슨 말이 더 필요할 지 모르겠다 그냥 내가 좋아하는걸ㅠ 나도 꼭 언젠가 저렇게 가까이서 듣고싶어〜
이것만 몇번을 듣는지... 조성진씨 연주는 가벼우면서도 묵직하고 표현이 다채로워서 질리지않아요. 강약조절이 미쳤음그냥
10分近くある曲なのに、聴き始めたら釘付けになり、聞き入ってしまいます。
クラシックよく分からないし、途中で飽きて聴くのをやめることもあるのに、それをさせない演奏。
私はこの方のバラード1番好きです。

My favorite thing about this piece is how different yet equally incredible a lot of interpretations are, especially during the coda. There are so many emotions coming out at once; contempt, sadness, rage, delusion, despair - that each person will experience to a different extent. This performance in particular brings out the anger and tragedy in this piece to a level that is frankly; indescribable.

Such grief and sorrow for his nation can be felt prominently when listening to his etude op 10 no 12 in C minor, which was written while he was in Paris during the November uprising - a failed retaliation against the Russian Empire. Whereas that piece convicts you with feelings of retribution and anger, the ballades emphasize the suffocating grief - and sorrowful longing for his people. Truly, the legacy of Chopin's work is that of his nation's, and to divorce the two would be unthinkable

This is certainly one of the finest interpretations of this piece that has ever been recorded. His brilliance in conveying the poetic component of the music to each listener in his/her own way is nearly impossible to replicate. An astounding performance of a piece that not only requires technical mastery but also emotional maturity -- demonstrated nearly flawlessly here and in many of his other performances.
He is a talented, skillful pianist, but has to little idea of the Polish folklore on which this ballad is based. This piece is not about virtuoso performances, but about the mood and emotions. As a Pole, I don't hear what I should. Listen to the performances of Krystian Zimerman and Janusz Olejniczak, although you probably won't understand what's going on. For foreigners, this piece is quite hermetic. Just hopeless business.

I've listened to many pianist's playing. Although the colors of Seong-Jin Cho are clear, he plays as if each original composer played it. Why? This is the result of his complete interpretation of the music. It seems that the original Chopin played it himself. But even if you listen, Seong-Jin Cho's performance is strong enough to notice. He plays a different dimension that cannot be found in other pianists. He has so much sophisticated, smart and clean soul.

정말 하루에 두번씩 듣는 것 같습니다 매일매일 들어도 질리지가 않네요...조성진의 터치는 물방울이 똑똑 떨어지는 것처럼 소리가 맑고 터치가 가벼우면서도 감정이 풍부한게...피아노 소리의 공기반 소리반 느낌이랄까요 이렇게 귀한 영상을 매일 이렇게 봐도 되나 싶을 정도로 좋네요

쇼팽의 곡 중에서도 발라드 1번은 내가 가장 좋아하는 곡 중 하나인데, 곡 자체로도 선율이 아름답고 우수에 넘치게 하는 감수성을 지녔다. 조성전이 그 느낌을 정말 잘 살린듯하다. 피아노를 쳐 본 사람은 알겠지만 어떻게 건반을 누르느냐에 따라 강약, 당연히 흐름에 따라 전해지는 울림도 다른데 이에 따른 감동도 그때그때마다 다르다. 난 기분이 좋았을 때 이 곡을 들으면 춤추고 싶었고 우울했을 때는 울고 싶었다.
진짜 음악 이름이 왜 발라드인지 알려주는 느낌 눈 앞에 장면을 보여주는 것 같음 진짜 조성진은 유일하다
아직까지 나에겐 조성진 연주가 최고!!

incredible phantastic interpretation - untill now my favorite pianist for Chopin was (and still is) Krystian Zimmerm but Seong-Jin Cho as a bright shining star att the classical sky is absolutely convincing. Superb interpretation. Thanks for posting, please more of this sympathic pianist

I've heard this Ballade many times but never one of this consummate integrity. It's like hearing it for the first time all over again.
The way Cho played it so delicately without compromising tone, honestly made me feel like I was listening to Chopin.
I'm obsessed with this piece. I'm obsessed with how he plays it. I admit I have been trying to imitate it, but I just don't have that skill level yet. Anyways, Seong-Jin Cho, you are a true master of the piano

조성진의 연주는 들어보면 정말 정직한거 같다. 작곡가가 표현하려 했던 음악을 그대로 표현한거 같음. 주변에서는 로봇같다는 사람도 있지만, 이런 정직한 연주를 할 수 있는 사람이 얼마나 있을까.
ㅎㅎ 그거를 가지고도 뭐라 하는 사람이 있나보군요... 작곡가의 의도 이외의 무언가를 굳이 표현하지는 않지만, 그것은 로봇 같다기 보다 오히려 작곡가의 의도를 완벽하게 흡수하여 작곡가와 연주자가 혼연일체 되었다는 표현이 더 맞겠군요. 다시 한 번 조성진 씨의 곡 해석 능력에 박수를 보냅니다.

@@Stampey2 Im not sure we are thinking about the same thing. For me passion when it comes to classical music especially romanticism - CHOPIN it's not just facial expressions. Even this kind of thinking is so basic and it just shows that people without musical background don't understand it. I'm a musician, violinist. So it's weird for me. That's it.
