You could expect that Vowles is like Brawn, he worked with him in their time at BAR/Brawn/Mercedes. P.S: I also adore Vowles for how kind and forgiving he is to Sargeant.
Agreed. James probably observed Brawn a lot while he was at Honda/Brawn/Mercedes.
I've been saying the same of Vowles' mentors for a while. He's been connected to the team principals responsible for almost all of the non-Red Bull champoinships over the past almost 30 years...
I don't think kind / forgiving is the right terms for Vowles, I think better he is realistic and fair to Sargent which is better than most drivers get in F1 and is commendable of Vowles as well as Williams for doing so. Especially since Vowles could have tossed him like a lemon as it wasn't his choice, it was a hold over from prior leadership and I hope that Sargent tries to make good on this for Williams / Vowles this year even if the points aren't there but keeping it on the track and aim to become a solid driver like Hulkenberg or Albon are for now more than trying to dethrone Max.

Although Logan’s father might not be a notable individual, his uncle owns a multi-billion dollar conglomerate.He is a former fighter pilot and now runs airline companies, oil trading companies, and refineries, under his business conglomerate. Harry Sargeant also owns IOTC - International Oil Trading Company - that supplies aviation fuel to the U.S. military.

Thank you for “gushing” a bit about James Vowles. Since he has taken over at Williams, they are the most exciting team to watch, in my estimation. I am pulling for them and hope they can make a big step this year.

Not only is there the chance to blow things out of the water, but there’s also no messing around with “maybe it will do this” or “hopefully it will do that” they’re going to get to clearly see whether their ideas work and clearly see why they don’t, which makes for a better learning curve. Williams is in the perfect spot to crank up the volatility and reap the rewards as long as the leadership is right

Maybe by 2025, but I reckon that 7th is more secure this year and maybe some key scalps from Alpine.
@@LawVS In my personal prediction I made before any car was revealed I've got them in 6th so I hope they find a bit more. But they overtake both Alpine and Aston Martin with the app overtaking all of them and Alpine clearly behind but still well ahead of Kick Sauber and Haas (because I also predicted gaps between the teams, putting the teams in groups of being on par with each other but both Red Bull and Alpine are alone). I'd love to get it right but I'd feel so bad for Alpine ánd Alonso lol
As a Williams fan, I am so excited for this era than I have for many years
I remember when I read that Vowles were leaving Merc, and I felt damn thats a big loss. But then I read he was going to Williams, my team at heart if I have to say under gunpoint, and damn I was happy again. And so far that happiness is growing. Go Vowles, Go Williams.
Yeah. Within days I felt Williams would be saved and lo they are thriving.
Not every day you get a Juan Pablo Montoya name drop. Fingers crossed for Williams, since the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls (wow that's a lot to type) will certainly take a step forward this season as well. P6 would be a good target for them this season.

one of the things im really liking at the moment is the sense of optimism surrounding Williams, rather than the pessimism around them only a few years ago, this isnt the first time we have seen Williams Shenanigans going into testing, and this time its being taken a very different angle

Thanks for the reference in the video. Not so sure that it's all about secrecy. I just feel that the team was pushing the envelope in terms of the design and production process that saw them take this right up until the last moment seeing the car unveiled in Bahrain.

Thank you so much for this excellent report on Williams! They have such a great history and I hope they can come back to the top over time. I thought Logan got treated badly last year, but I am glad James is giving him time to adjust. I'll be cheering them on this year.
I'm really excited to see what Williams can do this season, I've predicted them to be the biggest surprise this season. I also made a couple ballsy predictions of them to score a podium and for them to finish 5th in the WCC (however on that last one I will mention I completely forgot Aston Martin existed when I made my predictions)
I don't see a podium in all honesty BUT Alex will get some top 5 finishes and Logan will score a few times.

As far as I'm concerned, no amount of gushing over James Vowles is excessive. He's so confident, transparent, and quietly competent that he's a breath of fresh air. He's not going to be a DTS darling; but he's perfectly suited to the straight-forward race debriefs in the Vowles' Verdicts.
I loved the speculation around the team's future with Logan Sargeant while JV told us how he thought LS was doing and what he needed to do to keep the seat. The man was telling you what his plan was, just listen to him.

When JV speaks, i drop everything and listen, the man has innate charisma & oozes leadership, hands down the team principal that every team needs. I believe in him, and i strongly believe that 2 years from now, we will be seeing Ferrari, McLaren, and yes, Williams as frontrunners again, like in the 90s..

And stuff like this is why I am not afraid of Red Bull dominating again. Unlike NASCAR and Indy, where its A: tough to keep up with all the teams and how they are developing (during Teams here loosely) and B: It’s not about just winning the race or who is #1. Yes, that is important, but if you can just take your eyes off the top 3, you will see some veeery interesting things happening below.

They're probably gonna close in on Alpine.

From what i am hearing for the William team(from your videos and from other sources), they will be probably a surprise team for this year and if Vowles efforts are going to pay off this year, it is going to be amazing for everyone in that team and also i hope that Sargeant will get some justice for his questionable performance last year because i believe that this year, he has made some effort to change himself for the better
Vowles has said risks have to be taken to make progress in team production.

In the fight for p5 or p6 two teams are interesting to follow: RB (financialspo sorname) and Williams.. and with Alpine in the mix. It is gonna be crowded who will be the team in p4, p5 or p6... If williams gets in the mix in 2024, it will be fun to watch..

@@LawVSdefinitely, his crashes weren’t entirely his fault due to the snappy nature of the Williams, I drive karts myself and I know the feeling of karts just snapping mid Corner and there is just nothing you can do.

I also am very bullish (no pun intended) on Williams. In particular, I agree that people who were calling for Logan to get replaced already don't really understand how to 'read' statistics. If you flip a coin 10 times and 8 times it comes up heads, that doesn't make the coin worthless, it just means you haven't flipped the coin enough to find the true nature of the coin by way of statistics.
They’ve been up to something for a long time - they literally didn’t work on the FW45 since Silverstone so they could concentrate on the FW46. Vowles has said he is willing to sacrifice the next few seasons to get back to the top. He is playing the long game.
I would not expect Williams under JV to behave anything like Williams prior to him. Do not expect him to offer seats to future Mercedes drivers like Williams used to. There will be no Williams seat for Antonelli. There will be a seat for long term Williams drivers only.

@@LawVS correct. People that I know with children who work at the factory have been telling me that they’ve literally been working day and night for months on the car. There is something special afoot there. It’s amazing what new leadership and money backing the team can do.

I get what you're saying but I remember them not sending upgrades for ages after Silverstone and were lucky to stay 7th thanks to Alfa and Haas falling off hard and Alphatauri's resurgence was too late. Just.
It's unfortunate that I won't be able to watch the beginning races (and tomorrow's testing) till MARCH because I'll have test that will...pretty much decide my career

I would love it if Williams took a big step forward this year. Honestly they’re one of three teams I expect to take a pretty significant step forward (aside from McLaren and insert your name here Racing Bulls Insert Your Name Here this is a cool spot, the latter if only because of the changes to how they operate for 2024 compared to 2023).

I also like James Vowles because he didn't give up on Sargeant after one season... yes I am American and I would like to keep seeing an American driver on the grid, I guess that's just my American bias, kinda like your British bias.
I'm not overtly biased but being British does have a soft spot toward some teams. My favourite drivers are Australia and Spanish
On launchday the car wasn't probally ready yet, as it should be in F1. Vowles does make things move as it seems. Capito was the intrem to replace the deputy. Vowles is the first real teamboss in office since Frank Williams.
Alpine was in turmoil last year and we have to see in what way it has affected the development of this years car. I rate the driver pairing of Gasly -Ocon higher than the driverpairing of Albon-Sargeant but if the car isn't there Alpine has a problem.
To do the shake down in good wether is good for data gathering. The most importand thing to do is however is to shake it and see if everything keeps working as intended. For that having the factory close could be an advantage with problems.

Not doing the test on Silverstone now could be smart, but also could turn out a real mistake. If on the first day of testing they find a mechanical issue and cant run much because of it, that could have been found out during the filming day.
Maybe and James probably is aware of that and he admitted it was a strategic gamble

Apparently williams wanted to shake the car down at silverstone but the car wasn't ready at that time, they had booked a slot for running by couldnt make it.
Turns out for the best.
When James moved to williams and they got Albon, I was pumped, now they are the only team I care about.

A space grade aluminium alloy has been added by the FIA to the list of materials permissible for building the car. This probably means a particular team has come up with a new innovative way of using said alloy & requested the FIA to legalize it. Wouldn't be surprised if Williams are the one as their engineering department does some incredible stuff outside of F1, like the singer Porsches for example

the engineering company has no connection to the racing team any more, Claire Williams sold it not long after taking over, roughly a decade ago.
There’s still quite a lot of overlap between the two. Personnel and ideas They are still on the same site.
Imagine Williams turning up with one of the quickest cars like Aston Martin did. That would be insane.
I don't think they will be the fastest but they will certainly have a more forgiving car now.
