I'm surprised that in the first place, Nintendo never thought to include strips of sticker-pads/cushioning (you can actually buy 3rd party options for these on amazon, etc) for the inner bumpers of the dock. I thought it was common sense that sliding the switch between two hard surfaces is going to lead to unavoidable cosmetic damage. I actually bought a dock cable extension since day 1, so I've never had to actually put the switch inside the dock.

The burn in thing has been blown out of proportion… not sure why loads of people are worried. When was the last time a popular device suffered with screen burn in…? I’ve been using an iPhone X since launch and not once have I worried about the oled screen.
@@Jackruby22 I worked in a phone store and we needed to replace them a lot. Had during the time a Moto Z2 Force phone with OLED which i used for 3 years and the statusbar burned in. After heavy usage this will happen sooner or later with every OLED screen
I got my OLED yesterday, but was too afraid to shove it in the satisfye. I unscrewed the Satisfye grip, took out all the rubber bits, and put it back together. It fits *perfectly* without the rubber pieces, and there is zero forcing it in. I used a size 1 phillips for the screws, the screws in the handle bits are longer than the backplate bit. I *highly* recommend trying this!
I have a very important question about the Nintendo Switch OLED relating to the all white joy cons. Do the new white ones have that little bit of plastic that they recently put on the new zelda ones that claims it stops drift permanently or was that just for the zelda ones.
That was a rumor, they have been putting that white little piece of foam since launch on some joy cons and others, don’t have them. My launch Joy Con had it, and my brand new Zelda Joy Cons do not have that foam in them. It’s really unfortunate. Also that foam hardly helps, because it doesn’t give enough pressure to actually make a notable difference from what I’ve seen.
Is the OLED model usable outside on a sunny day? With the launch model I'm having a lot of trouble seeing what's on the screen even with slight clouds and in the shade
It will be very interesting to test burn in on this thing with a long handheld play session of Monster Hunter Rise. Some of the high rank quests can take up to a hour complete and due to the new maps not loading between different number sections of the map. The static HUD elements will stay in place on the screen the entire time.
burn in isn't something that really happens after making "one mistake" and that's it -- it's cumulative, so someone who played 900 hours of mainly BoTW (even with breaks) but with little game variation could still see burn in from the HUD being the most common thing on the screen. People who play more than one game on the switch oled shouldn't really have any issues
There won't be burn in go look at the vita which had an OLED screen almost 10 years ago and it wasn't a problem . Modern OLED are even better it's almost eliminated completely. The only time I've seen burn in is old plasma with people calling them OLED or boomers watching CNN alllllllll day and night for years with the tv logo sitting in the same spot. Modern OLED have a feature called screen shift where the screen shifts in micro incremental levels that you can't notice anyway. Just relax and use your switch and stop buying into the burn in stuff! Samsung pushed a lot of the burn in scare to sell their crappy QLEDs to try sabotage LG back in the day also. Especially with your example of playing monster hunter really? It takes hundreds of thousands of hours without changing games and content!
To the person asking dark mode is black no it's designed as grey it was never considered black. As an example the Undertale logo is completely black so it would blend in so they made it grey. Black(pixels being off) would be nice for a little battery savings but it's such minor savings.
Glad how the Switch OLED dock works with the older switch. It looks like the inside of the OLED dock was made to prevent screen scratching. I'm not really meaning the Bumpers inside it. I'm meaning the glossy plastic instead of rough plastic.

People are so worried about burn in, it's so funny. I have an LG OLED TV running 12 hours a day and I have no issues. If you get burn in on your switch, you got your money's worth with how much you would need to play it to get that.
I personally don't get why it took them that long. Internally, the storage is just a module you can plug in like an NVMe on your mainboard. It's not soldered on or whatever. Nintendo could've made SO much more money by just selling the Switch where the simply swapped out the 32GB module for like a 128GB one and sold it for $50 extra.
It’s not dark mode, it’s a “theme”. Something I wish the switch had more of (It shouldn’t be that hard, even the 3ds is running laps around the switch in the theme department lol). Hopefully, we will get new themes because of the OLED (so Nintendo can showcase the colors).
Battery savings between black and dark grey have been compared on phones. According to an article on XDA dark grey actually does provide significant battery savings while the difference between dark grey and pure black are minimal.
I am particularly color blind. I had the original PS Vita and the lcd PS Vita. I couldn't tell the difference between the two. So for me the only change for me is a bigger screen.
KEVIN, how much better is the screen when using it outside & sunlight is hitting it?? a big gripe I have with many screens is barely being able to see things when sunlight is hitting the screen, I mean, I would like to get some sun while I game so people think I go outside :D
I believe the "PRO' or "4K" switch will be an attachment to the dock, that's why the back plate is completely removable instead of just use a hinge. After all, there's no real need to do 4K on handheld mode.
Any improvement in wifi connectivity strength? The base switch had pretty weak wifi antenna. Also, any thermal differences when running switch vs switch oled? Lastly, would be nice if you can do some measurements to objectively characterise the end to end input input latency between classic switch and switch lite to the oled switch. Assuming everything else is exactly the same, we can reasonably assume the difference in response time comes right down to the oled screen.

FYI, I have screen burn in reduction turned off on the regular switch as my TV isn't OLED. The screen still darkens after about 5 minutes of inactivity when in handheld or tabletop mode, and this isn't adjustable whatsoever, but the time it takes to sleep IS determined by your sleep mode time toggle in the settings, under sleep mode > auto-sleep when playing on console screen. It looks like Nintendo already thought ahead, as the TV Settings setting is exclusively for TVs.
Can you compare ethernet speeds through the new dock's LAN port and an old dock with an adapter or a USB hub? I use a USB-C hub on my old dock's rear USB which gives me extra USB ports and a LAN connection, for example. I'm wondering if the speeds are better now than through an adapter.
If you’re worried about scratching the switch in the dock then get thin strips of felt from Amazon. They’re double sided sticky and thin enough for the Switch to fit in the dock.
Hi, Does the OLED screen help with colourblindness issues? I know a few games have the option to tweak those settings, but I was wondering if a more vibrant screen can help solve that even more? I'm not fully colourblind, but darker games basically show up as a massive dark spot for me, as an extreme example, some of the darker diablo 3 maps I have to navigate purely on minimap. Would an OLED screen help with that?
Can old switch model use oled model's screen and shell? People could just buy parts from ebay to upgrade old switch so they don't have to buy another switch
The dock scratching issues would be gone if they just made those little bumpers he was talking about have some sort of other material, maybe something just soft. There is a little tiny bit of rubber on the bottom, but they could at least put that rubber at the top too

Looking forward to the comparison!
i assume this is already planned but testing the differences between the official ethernet adapter vs the new dock’s built in ethernet port
I’ve had an Oled Vita fir years and never had any issue with burn in
How many hours you play everyday? Because i play 4-5 hours EVERYDAY handheld.
@@kenk5269 I played my Vita a lot when I first got it. Not so much anymore. But I must have put hundreds of hours on the vita and never had an issue. I personally am not worried about burn in on the switch
Same here! And I still love my Vita. Can't wait for the Switch to really shine.
1)Compare desible levels between Nomral Switch & Oled.
2) See if it can stand vertically (Tate mode)
3)How Labo VR looks.
Really enjoyed the shoutout to Steve Saylor and the section on accessibility. Cheers!
I am so happy I got my question on the video 😁
Is the OLED model usable outside on a sunny day? With the launch model I'm having a lot of trouble seeing what's on the screen even with slight clouds and in the shade
Yup that’s how oled works
unfortunately it doesn't seem to be bright enough
I'm just hoping they'll release the white joycons separately. I'm curious as to how they would look on the Mario Red Switch.
It will be very interesting to test burn in on this thing with a long handheld play session of Monster Hunter Rise. Some of the high rank quests can take up to a hour complete and due to the new maps not loading between different number sections of the map. The static HUD elements will stay in place on the screen the entire time.
No high rank quest has taken me more than 20 minutes to complete...
burn in isn't something that really happens after making "one mistake" and that's it -- it's cumulative, so someone who played 900 hours of mainly BoTW (even with breaks) but with little game variation could still see burn in from the HUD being the most common thing on the screen.
People who play more than one game on the switch oled shouldn't really have any issues
@@cyan6883 also combining with the fact that most people also “switch” to their tv as well.
@@justyouraveragegamer5065 want a cookie?
To the person asking dark mode is black no it's designed as grey it was never considered black. As an example the Undertale logo is completely black so it would blend in so they made it grey. Black(pixels being off) would be nice for a little battery savings but it's such minor savings.
Glad how the Switch OLED dock works with the older switch. It looks like the inside of the OLED dock was made to prevent screen scratching. I'm not really meaning the Bumpers inside it. I'm meaning the glossy plastic instead of rough plastic.
you deserved 3 millions SUBS!!! great job amigo!!!
Nintendo Higher Up: "should we release the switch 2?"
Nintendo CEO: "we must have as many switch models as ds models." 😀
Nintendo Higer Up: "So switch OLED is pretty much switch version 1.2 right?"
Nintendo CEO: "Haha, no. This is technically version 0.2 my friend. We have a lot more money 💰 to make."
Exactly my point!
I wrote that we could have gotten this in 2017.
At the same cost.
This is 3.0 bcs I bought the 6hrs version with 6,2ins screen!
(Or 4.0 if we count the red with larger screen...)
This is how they always do before they are to release the nxt console.
I don't know if we can call the E3 nxt bcs it's after all a Switch no matter how many cassettes/micro disks or a horizontal docking mechanism...
That was such a great answer to the visual impairment question. Many would have shied away from answering it. Good job!
Is the added LAN port faster than using a USB LAN adapter?
That's all I want to know. Not worried about it being faster so much as it being more stable for smash
@@jak3w having used stuff like that on pc's... Unfortunately it seems like stability would be similar but speed and latency especially would be the main difference, kinda the opposite of what you want sorry :/ though I could be completely wrong with the switch
Probably faster, since USB has 2 cables to go through
@@danswope actually it would be faster since it had less cable to "travel" instead of going through and adapter and partly a little bit of signla would always be lost. Secondly it still depends in the end from the capabilty of the ethernet port and your connection (especially latency, jitter). In the end unless it is a gigabit port the difference should not be that noticeable
@@brunojr9 yah... My comment was that speed and latency would possibly be better, with the built in port but stability wouldn't be much much better... Lol... But also it's came out that the switch oled internally routes ethernet through its usb chipset so there's effectively zero difference (unfortunately)
Ah maaannnn ! You've answered the question that no one could give me an answer to: "are the Hori Split pad pro compatible with the Oled model?" : and yes they are! Everyone would go "duuhhh everything is compatible!" but the the little parts on the back of the Split pad holding the back of the Switch weren't guaranteed to be compatible as the Oled is (on the paper) sliiightly ticker than the original model. I've even emailed Hori about it and they never get back to me. Thanks again!
I was just hear to see if the Hori Joycon works and they did!? 🙌 Gonna swap out the left Joycon for my blue Hori Dpad
People are so worried about burn in, it's so funny.
I have an LG OLED TV running 12 hours a day and I have no issues.
If you get burn in on your switch, you got your money's worth with how much you would need to play it to get that.
Imagine how many views Kevin would get if he took his hat off
Yeah whats that papa smurf style all about anyways?
Fucking ridiculous watching someone wear a beanie in summer
My guess would be that he is balding, which is why he wears the beanie in videos.
Let the guy have his beanie. Let him live.
Way less
To be honest, OLED screens have advanced so far from what we saw on the vita that I DOUBT burn in will ever be an issue
Did you take apart the dock to see if it has a chip for 4K upscaling? Curious since the new dock is firmware upgradeable.
Nope it'd been long confirmed there's no upscaling hardware
The taste one was my big question and I’m glad that was answered
That 64gb upgrade is incredibly generous on Nintendo's part /s
I personally don't get why it took them that long. Internally, the storage is just a module you can plug in like an NVMe on your mainboard. It's not soldered on or whatever. Nintendo could've made SO much more money by just selling the Switch where the simply swapped out the 32GB module for like a 128GB one and sold it for $50 extra.
I'm glad to see that the wiggle on the switch isn't a defect. I thought I bought a defective model
Am I the last one to learn that its going to have a glass screen? Thought it was the normal plastic!
Can’t wait to receive mine, I’m quite excited for this
For me OLED screen is definitely alot more better than IPS and yes I can tell the difference.
I had some doubts and was about to cancel my order on the OLED but your videos on the new model made me happy to get one on preorder day!
Do you think Nintendo will release an OLED variant of the Switch lite, before the Switch II ? (Pro)
After playing with the Switch OLED, could you go back to the regular switch or did it look and feel bad?
It’s not dark mode, it’s a “theme”. Something I wish the switch had more of (It shouldn’t be that hard, even the 3ds is running laps around the switch in the theme department lol). Hopefully, we will get new themes because of the OLED (so Nintendo can showcase the colors).
I’m so glad to see your getting subs again your a great channel
Imagine switch lite with oled 😍
Battery savings between black and dark grey have been compared on phones. According to an article on XDA dark grey actually does provide significant battery savings while the difference between dark grey and pure black are minimal.
I am particularly color blind. I had the original PS Vita and the lcd PS Vita. I couldn't tell the difference between the two. So for me the only change for me is a bigger screen.
Oled and lcd is a big difference. Better colors and more vibrant.
KEVIN, how much better is the screen when using it outside & sunlight is hitting it?? a big gripe I have with many screens is barely being able to see things when sunlight is hitting the screen, I mean, I would like to get some sun while I game so people think I go outside :D
It looks ok but it’s gonna be hard pass for me
Same I have Mario edition but I think it be cool at first but be no difference after couple weeks might cop the joycons tho
@@B3you_ lol I ended up getting from eBay lol don’t wanna miss out lol
I believe the "PRO' or "4K" switch will be an attachment to the dock, that's why the back plate is completely removable instead of just use a hinge. After all, there's no real need to do 4K on handheld mode.
the rumor never said there would be 4K for handheld
Is the new Switch model still capped at 100mbps for download and upload speed?
First question we're introduced to...
Cause these are the questions we deserved answers to!
Currently watching this in class hope I don’t get caught 😂
do you think there will be a Switch OLED Lite?
Is the battery life the same and also is the glass screen more protective?
Should be the same and glass shatters so get a screen protector
Well that why you get a glass screen protection. Which I did with the old one and will do with the OLED switch
Next video: 48 hours with the OLED. After that: 72 hours with the OLED. And then: Even more of your OLED questions. PS: Not meant in a mean way, I’m teasing. Love your content Kevin!
missed opportunity to called this vid “20 of your BURNING questions answered”
this channel deserves 10 million
Pls put grey joy con i want to see how it looks
At 8:38 kevin said playing a game for a very long time with opening menu and a cut scene so does it mean while playing zelda botw 2 I have to vontinously open menu
Wow Kevin is getting all the switch OLED views he can 😅😎
No Screen blinking tests on different brightness? Why?
nice content . you answered the questions as fast as possible. keep up the good work.
ware are the air intake vents....... on the old model that easy to see. on this new one, i can not see them in images.
Is that OLED screen PWM dimming or DC dimming? that is all I need to know.
Can you make a video to show if any accessories from the old model can work with the oled like battery cases
If you’re worried about scratching the switch in the dock then get thin strips of felt from Amazon. They’re double sided sticky and thin enough for the Switch to fit in the dock.
Does the OLED screen still look as good with the brightnesss turned down?
Damn! 3 daily uploads in a row! Loved the videos, love and respect being sent your way ❤❤❤
Hi,
Does the OLED screen help with colourblindness issues? I know a few games have the option to tweak those settings, but I was wondering if a more vibrant screen can help solve that even more?
I'm not fully colourblind, but darker games basically show up as a massive dark spot for me, as an extreme example, some of the darker diablo 3 maps I have to navigate purely on minimap. Would an OLED screen help with that?
Yo men, does the switch oled enter inside the switch case pdp Pull-N-Go? Thanks for your answer
watching this on my ipad its great quality and nice video
There looks to be indents on the back side of the of the docking station under the cover. Is that for show or is it a fan?
Kevin thanks so much for the updates!
Can old switch model use oled model's screen and shell? People could just buy parts from ebay to upgrade old switch so they don't have to buy another switch
I am looking for a charging cable that will work with the OLED in tabletop mode... any suggestions?
The dock scratching issues would be gone if they just made those little bumpers he was talking about have some sort of other material, maybe something just soft. There is a little tiny bit of rubber on the bottom, but they could at least put that rubber at the top too
is the kickstand radical?
the amount of time it took me too find a video where they try to use the old switch in the new dock
Honestly, just in videos the display looks fantastic, I cannot wait to get mine on the 8th.
