Sooooooo i purchased one of these clear backplates and installed it the second day of having my new rog ally. And i didnt watch the installation guide. It seemed easy enough which it was. But then my ally started acting weird with the power and stopped turning on. I went on a long reddit search finding other people with the same issue with their units not powering on. So i thought i had a faulty unit like alot of other people. Then i watched this video and see you say i need to put that black sticker over the sensor or it wont power on 😳.... Now its working!! i was going to best buy first thing in the morning to return it for a new one. Probably would have ran into the same issue. Thanks for the details on why that sticker needs to be put on!
clear back is cool but I think the rgb part ruins it. you cant see any of the hardware and that is the point of a clear case is it not. besides the inconvenience of a separate thing to have to remember to charge. you can likely just not put the rgb part in but definitely need a non rgb version without the holes cut for it
I bought this rgb backplate too had it installed for about a week now and I couldn't be happier. It looks amazing and the fit is perfect 👌 I wanted the hard cover travel case too but it kinda defeats the purpose of having the clear backplate so hopefully they come up with just a hard cover that protects the sticks and screen 😀
it absolutely looks different than what is advertised in the JSAUX page, the one advertised looks way more transparent, the one in the video its totally different
A non-RGB version would be great. Other than that, it looks pretty good. I’m not going to bother with charging a separate battery and dealing with a separate power button, just for some flashing lights on the back. This is one of those features that people use a few times, until the inconvenience of it, means they just stop bothering. Edit: Since apparently it needs explaining… Leaving out the RGB would make the product cheaper. It would remove a function I don’t want, and reduce the cost to produce, likely significantly.
Considering taking out the lighting module and replacing it with a custom SSD enclosure. Might not be on board, but a small USB-C jumper and you've got an "external" drive. good way to use the original SSD after an upgrade.
@@abartels68 That could be an interesting variation they could sell. Instead of the RGB module, it could be an adapter that holds a standard sized SSD.
@@jasonh4534 or you could be a normal human and just leave it off? The rgb does ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong when its off. imagine complaining about a completely optional feature thats just so weird.
Kind of silly they don't sell just the clear back without the RGB parts. I get you can just leave it out, but then you have the USB and button holes still left over.
It was fixed in a revision. If you picked one up around black Friday should be good. If you have a bad one, you have to RMA and they will replace it with a new one! But you will not get a new warranty or extension!
It looks cool but no way in hell im removing my skull & co case, the grips in it changes my biggest complaint about the ally which it feels like holding a plastic plank.
They provide an extra full screw set. Also you can get the bottom center screw out no problem it's not fixed. It just has a plastic washer on the thread inside
Is the case identical in size to the original mainly around the hand grip area. I purchased some hand grips on Etsy and absolutely love them and would hate if I could no longer use them.
From what I was told it's the same exact dimensions as the stock plate. I should be getting mine in a few more days and I got those 3D printed grips as well.
I have that battery and it does 100W until it overheats. Exhanged it and it the new one does too. Its fine for the handhelds though, just not a big laptop.
This is on my list of things to get for my Ally, but I have a long list, top priority is the memory upgrade, but its finding someone to do it for me in the UK.
Hi ETA, wanted to ask does the RGB of the backplate affect the 2280 4TB upgrade at the back? I'm thinking of purchasing one but I am using the 2280 upgrade as of now. Thanks :)
I'm actually trying to get a replacement sent out had mine about 2 weeks and it has already stopped working on a unit that has never been dropped or been over 70 degrees max won't charge or turn on, the one I have for my steam deck still works fine though. Il keep you posted on if I get a refund or replacement because if they decide to do nothing I would advise people not to buy one Update jsaux reached out to me within 2 days asked for proof of device not working and was willing to send out a replacement. Wish it was more the steam decks though the rgb for ally seems so minimal
I purchased 1 of that pyotil 100w cyberpunk powerbank but for charging it takes 100ws and in 3-4 mins drops to 18ws, the seller sent me 5 replacements, all of them had the issue, for 38 bucks it was ok but still frustrating, it ends up recharging in 3-3.5 hours which is not advertised. I also tried the black option with 4 ports, same issue, 5replacements, still bad.
So is J.S. Aux the way they say to pronounce it? I like their products, but I'm not a big fan of the name since everyone is guessing how to say it in reviews. J-sox, J-seaux, now J.S. Aux
I was looking into this one too but then I got a skull and co case and I'm basically blockikg the back all the time so I think I'll just leave it at that
Sammeeee. I was thinking of just having another type of protective case that I can see it in like spigen or a clear case but idk. The extra grips these cases provide I can’t pass up just for the aesthetic of a back panel
I’ve seen some content creators showing off that they were able to upgrade their Ally to 32GB If they or you are willing to show off if doing a 32GB mod is worth it since it can improve performance for AAA games. Thanks Prime
Really like the clear back case and the much better cooling from the better air vents. I have been absolutely perplexed that Asus would sacrifice so much airflow and cooling for a "cool" looking air vent (ironic I know). However, I can't stand the RGB insert thingy, it's absolutely useless especially since it has to be charged separately and only lasts a few hours. I'd consider a cheaper version of this without that pointless RGB insert. Is there a version of this without the RGB?
And leave an empty USB-C hole just sticking out like a sore thumb on the top of my Ally? Also, why would I buy it and waste money when they could sell a version 10 dollars cheaper without the unnecessary additions. @@BEARTAC0S
The Ally has been one of the best purchases I have made. I love the fact that I can literally game anywhere on the go.
Im so glad companies are offering third party support for the ally just like the deck!
I picked up an Rog Ally this last weekend. I love this thing!
is it still running well? I want to buy it but many are saying that they have problems

Have you tried this backplate with the 2280 mod that you showed previously? I'd like to know if it fits.
Ditto!
you can use 2280 mod only if you dont use the RGB module
That’s not clear. That is TRANSLUCENT. Huge difference.
Companies like Jsaux, Spigen and ugreen always have really high quality products, especially for the price...

it lowers the temp of the unit, that is the actual reason to mod it....
Really been enjoying your videos on the Ally too !
Love that evil eye bracelet 😊

Can you put the nvme adapter with the RGB light?
Because i have the Nvme adapter on my ally, I was wondering if it is an issue.
it absolutely looks different than what is advertised in the JSAUX page, the one advertised looks way more transparent, the one in the video its totally different
I picked it up for my ally too, honestly I think it looks better without the RGB stuff, and you can see the SSD and heatsink without it.
is the backplate exactly the same as the stock but clear? I want to get this so bad, but also want to keep using my clear gripcase
Will the RGB backplate fit if we have the 2280 L-adapter?

Hey, ETA can you do a comparo, like this jsaux case vs ally killswitch from dbrand once it comes out?
@etaprime, would you happen to have the link to the 90 degree USBC charge cable?
Hi, can you still install the transparent back plate mod if you are on a 2280 adapter?
Does this work with the m2 adapter to m80? Or would they conflict? The part in question is that LED part. Perhaps you could skip that if so?
I tried it. It worked fine for me.
I need a simple version without the rgb and stuff just for the better cooling
Pro tip for the RGB... instead of painting over it, get some transparent ink printer sticker... then just print whatever you want and stick it.

Remember to recalibrate the triggers. I had to do it for the right trigger.
Jay-Socks! Sounds way better then JS-Aux.

Can any youtuber answer if the SD card issues Have been fixed or are they still failing?
This has already been answered. They continue to fail. So if that's a deal breaker and you simply can't swap the SSD for a larger one. Do not buy.
It was fixed months ago.
Yes it’s been fixed but since it’s a hardware problem you have to rma it or buy the new model. No software will fix it or updates

You say the battery pack is 2000 which seemed small so I checked the listing and it's 20,000. May want to put an edit over the video to fix that.
how do you make a custom logo for it?
You taught me how to mod my Arcade 1up. good lookin out prime. I'm back to learn more. lol
just got a Amazon version of this case and I like it was better the the jsaux cuz of how its installed to the ally
I have a rubber back cover that is white and has a kickstand in the middle of it. I love it. It also gives me better grip on the Ally.
Anyone tried this with the SKull and Co clear case? I'm wondering if it's still transparent enough to be worth it.

Do you know of a black faceplate ? I understand that the faceplate is connected with the screen but still!

Yep
If I bring the ally on a international flight will they be able to read the power and battery info on the modded back plate?
What is that 90 degree cable. It looks good. You mentioned a link in the description but I’m not seeing it.
That dislike ratio
It seems that deck users don't like when people talk about the ally lmao
I also ordered it, but I am living in germany, it takes some time to arrive.
Is there any mod for Ally/Ally X to completely change the shell of these handhelds?
That case looks similar to the Killswitch case that dbrand is coming out with for the Ally.
