BEAUTIFUL JOB is there any possibility that Asus could do something via software to prevent this kind of mods to happen? Because is pretty useful for ally users
@@6CauseO6FDeath6 There is a possibility but I don't think they ever will. I'm sure Asus is aware of the battery mods happening in and if allys were setting on fire all over the world because of people messing around with them they would most likely do something about it! And I'd hope so too 🤭

@@Shahmeem994 It's not unfortunately. It's also too long to mount horizontally. I am going to try something, the original 2280 mod was to put the ssd vertical and under the original battery so I may try that because I get asked this a lot 👍🏻

@@joshm8015 No special solder needed 👍🏻
I see in the video I didn't explain very well, the battery tabs are made of aluminium and do need a special solder but they are welded to tabs on the board, we can solder to the tabs no problem as we are removing the tabs 👍🏻
Hi, great mod, i already made the 90wh mod but the weight is ..... I want to ask whats the weight of this battery compared to original (real measure without blacks sticks and plastics etc), best regards and great job

Is it possible to make a similar mod for the steam deck?
I'm sure if I had a steam deck I could think of something! They have decent battery life anyway don't they?
@@ksrnate Normally on an LCD I don't go over an hour and a half, it would be great to at least get to 3 like a switch v1
Question if you have a minute, please. I tested my battery at the cable like you and get an output of 15.10v
I checked each individual cell and all 4 are 3.7v to 3.8v, so I guess it's losing voltage somewhere in the board itself... maybe?
Does anyone see this as being a problem? Thanks in advance, and thank you for the video!
Hi mate don't worry it seems like it may have been shipped to you with less charge in it than others. Anywhere between 3.3v and 4.2v is ok. Have you measured the cells to see if they will fit? Where did you order it from?
@@ksrnate Yeah, I just thought it might be odd that the individual cells seem to be fully charged but the reading at the wires seems lower maybe. But now that I think about the math, it does add up. :)
I found one on amazon with good reviews and each cell measures about 4mm thick. Going to give it a go!
@@PFSTR It's not the thickness that's the problem it's the height, about 43mm is our limit but some are coming 45mm or bigger

@@PFSTR That's a shame dude. A few have claimed they got the battery elsewhere and completed the mod but never gave a link as to where they ordered it from? Off Amazon apparently but I don't know

Me personally I'm getting almost double, the stock ally battery although is 40wh was actually 34wh in my case. You can do a battery report in windows to check on its degradation and full charge capacity. Mine went from 34wh to a full 67.3wh. A huge difference!
