Hi Sorin. I know a lot of people hate the "wire bypass" but I myself used it about 3 years ago, on the display circuit to feed the 3.3v directly and is working fine so far. 😁
Most of the time the resistor you jumped is a 10 ohm resistor used for in circuit testing making sure the ic works and the capactor acts as a high frequency filter on the power to the ic.
What about the 1 V after the resistor and the laptop not working? 10 ohm should be giving a signal on the beeping mode testing. Has the resistor changed the value because of the water damage?
you shorted out the resistor on an RC filter to bios chip. this fixed the low 1v to 3.3, so either the bios chip or other circuits on same rail were drawing xs current or (more likely), the resistor had gone high in view of its proximity to water damaged area. i would have replaced resistor with one of correct value so bios is getting a properly filtered 3.3 even if it worked just fine with 3.3 via your zero ohm resistor. having said that you sure know how to get working results & quickly.
I have a Gameboy Advance SP which was not turning on neither charging so I figured it out that the F2(fuse2) was the culprit.. so, I wired it up and it turned on fine.. and for the charging problem I ran a wire from the D1 to the via next to F2 and it's charging... wiring up a fuse is not a problem just don't use a thick wire that's it
If that resistor is actually a fuse, I don't really understand why you don't put an other fuse into its place. Next time it will blow up the board. Are those flash chips XMC qh64ahig and qh128ahig?
... 5:49 - i think that cap is bad! :) is parallel mode with a resistor, and those caps have a habit to fail short. sometime, they aren't exactly 0 ohms, so... BUT we have another resistor in parallel with the original resistor. this explain why 2 volts was gone, but no short there...
Hello mr, sorin I have received a motherboard from the costumer , And I test it ,it has a charging light when it's connected to DC supply and battery , But it's doesn't turn on at all , I'll check all voltage supply motherboard , No one is missing even the power button is also good , it has a 3.3v when I power it on it goes 0 but nothing's happen ,, I have already flash the good bios but it's not solve ,, Can you help me ??? My last option is to change super io chip But i think the sio is good because the laptop is have a charge light when connect the battery and power supply ,, Plss help me What could be wrong ,😓😓😓🙏🙏🙏🙏
If I was Sorin, I would be out buying Lottery tickets! How you get away with this is beyond me as it goes against everything I ever learned in electronics repair and I have been repairing circuit boards to component level for 40 years. But you have to remember, all we see is a logo come up on the screen, do all functions still work, and if they do for how long? I don't come here to learn, I come for the entertainment, and for that keep up the good work Sorin.:)
how can i put it... let's say the laptop is with the customer already, the money has been charged but my wife spent them already for food, food which already has been eated :D
I am here to learn the art of proper calibrated wires ❤

@@Drottninggatan2017 That should be it. The resistor increased multiple times, it can happen.
Sorin's proper calibrated wire 😂
If im not mistaken, component location is RC300 and its a 0ohm resistor.
A Good teacher . from palstine
I just woke up to this video. What a great way to start the weekend. Thank you Sorin.
bios battery and power button and lid sensor is on that small board

You too have a beautiful weekend Sorin.
Thank you!
No matter what we've learned we still haven't learned anything.. so, everyday we learn something new and the progress keeps going until we die
Thank you sorin..you're always there for us..
Another great calibrated bodge job by Sorin, any one else would change the resistor haha
Love from India 🇮🇳 👍
mother board LA k032p is compatible with LA K034P? BOTH USE DELL 3501
Very fine job Master instructor
love proper calibrated fuse
Probobly 0ohm resistor going partially open after liquid damage.

Power switch is in the right side pcb
My proper calibrated sorin.
Very good analysis...excellent
can you please provide purchase link to multiple power adapters @0.30 - thank you Sorin !
Look at the video description, there is a link in front of my tools.
@@aliassaila8037 Thank you for your prompt response !
Thank you for all you do

I would have replaced with a 0 ohm resistor
Technically, he did. A fuse is a piece of wire. 😆
Have a Blessed Day Sorin🔥🔥😇😇
hi can i ask you, how do you clean water damage, what liquid?
It's iso propyl alcohol!
Fantastic job. Have a nice weekend fox.
Nice work
good one

Good job mate 👍
Can steel wool be used for cleaning a soldering Iron tip ??????????
Yes

Please check 6:02 (close up) where you can see the cap and resistor, are not in parallel mode.

hola tendria alguien el squematico de este modelo mismo gdi4a la-k034p
I need to buy calibrated wire in a big bulk spool and then resale small pieces in a pouch. I’ll be rich !
very good

in my case, Dell Inspiron 3501 has no power and no display. the charging Led blinking every 30 Sec. what will be the problem?

the resistor looked bad, it had cracked pin if you look closely

A resistor with a proper calibrated fuse 😂
3v3 -1v8?
Hello🤝👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👋👋👋
Instead of using a "proper calibrated wire" you could just have used a 0 ohm resistor, which you should have on any non working board.
