    I applied on Friday for the Custom cash card and it stayed a pending status but waited until today Tuesday and no new update from Citi and then I google the application line to call and when I got finally so I called in told the representative that my application it’s says a pending and she double verify my personal information and put me in wait status two times and the in the last moment when she came back she told that congratulations you were approved for the Citibank credit card with a limit of $8,600 and with a APR 26.99% and they pull my Equifax report and in the time of the inquiry I had a score of 702 so I got very excited 😂 and emotionally also because more than 10 to 15 years that I don’t have a Citi credit card. Custom cash makes sense if you spend something very close to $500 either in groceries or gas (if you spend 500 in gas specifically, you can mix it up with another one that gives 3% or more in groceries like the Savour One or Chase Freedom Unlimited), if you spend much more than 500 in groceries or gas, probably the cash back makes more sense. The ideal case scenario IMO is having both, spending 500 in gas with the custom cash, plus having another one that gives you 3% or more in groceries & restaurants and using the double cash for any other purchase.

    During the 15-month 0% interest period you can make major purchases anything from a car repair to dental work and not pay interest on it and take your time paying it back.

    Citi Custom Cash would make a great large purchase card. Obviously $500 is ideal, but there are ways to get around this limitation too. If you have a $1500 purchase a lot of places will let you pay 90 days same as cash and you can split it into 3 payments. I might want to get it just to do that.

    Question- I currently have Custom Cash, and I'm looking for a 2% everything card. If I get the Double Cash, do my Thank You Points sit in the same pool so I can always use them for the Custom Cash statement? That way I can avoid losing out on the 'payoff 1%' of the Double Cash? Or is there a manual self serve process to move TYP between my cards?

    Dang, I wish I had seen this before applying for the double cash card two days ago. Why not keep Custom Cash; for a 2% flat cashback, get Wells Fargo Active Cash or FNBO Evergreen? Both have a $200 SUB on $1K Spend and you will have your 2% cashback credited in full when your statement drops every month. I hate the Double Cash split 1% now/1% later (which means you must spend again to use up the 2nd 1%, like a dog chasing its own tail).

    So I've had this card (custom Cash) for a few weeks now. I've been using it alot so it could hit the bonus and then I plan on using it just for gas. The biggest thing on this card that is irritating with this card is anything over like a hundred bucks triggers some kind of fraud alert and my card gets cancelled. I called and they told me it's fine now but then my card was again cancelled after trying to redo the purchase it was embarrassing. The second thing with this card that I hate is the purchases takes forever to process. I'm at 4 days and the purchases haven't processed. And Citi Bank doesn't let you pay off pending transactions. It's a small thing I know but cards that let me pay off pending transactions are my go to cards often times.

    • @lebisque9194
      @lebisque9194 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are SO right about this. I’ve had to stop using the card about 3-4 days before the due date so the pending charges can post and then the full balance be paid off. I had a $10 balance post to my credit report because it took so long for the charge to post to the account.

  • @ramonsuarez1051
    @ramonsuarez1051 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    For my family a more realistic scenario is $1,000 on groceries and $1,000 on everything else. Coincidentally, I think that's the break even point! Both cards will give you $40 and any more spending after that is in favor of Double Cash. I imagine it would still take a long time to make up for the $200 bonus.

    @stephencsoma564 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I 💯% Agree. I just got the custom cash. Double Cash is not worth it anymore. Even with the cap of $500 that's still $25 back. And then if you spend another $500 at 1% that's $30. So $1000 with the citi custom cash equals 3%. So at $1500 spend it would be at 2%. But even then you'd get $35 at that point where double Cash you'd only get $30. So custom cash wins here for $1500 worth of spend. Then the double Cash would compliment it. Not to mention you get a $200 SUB. It's a no brainer that Custom Cash is the winner here

    • @raiden3013

      Citi gave me the opportunity to convert my Rewards+ card to a Premier Card. I decided instead to apply for a new Premier card and then close my Rewards+ card which I would never use if I had the Premier card. The good part was I got the 60,000 point bonus. The bad part was my credit score went down because I had my Rewards+ card for over 20 years so the average age of my accounts went down. So my recommendation is you apply for a new Custom Cash card and keep your Double Cash card at least until it expires.

  • @EstebanAnderson

      @@tedabdulfattah2601 yeah you can but me personally i would use both cards, one as an every day spender, and then get the custom cash for only 1 category of spend and you will get sign up bonus also

      Just apply for Custom Cash so you get the bonus. You can cancel Double Cash later if you still want to do it, but it's probably better to keep it.

    neither of these cards are useful in terms of avoiding foreign transaction fees correct? retiring outside the USA. it would be great to do a video with a card setup for people like me, 1 VISA, 1 mastercard, 1 AMEX

      I've been a Citi customer for over 30 years. They gave me my first credit card in college and I bought my first car with help from their rewards points. I never lost money on a dispute with Citi. They always had my back, including a time I received a text out of nowhere alerting me to purchase I did not make. I had a worse experience with Amex. They told me to I had to contact the provider who was avoiding my calls.
