I have had cards in the past with a balance transfer 0% offer, but no offer on current purchases. Since I had gotten those cards strictly to help me pay down my balance, I put no new purchases on them until I was done with the balance transfer. It was just easier to keep track of what was going on that way and not pay any interest. Which reminds me, now that we are in the 4th quarter, I have to take one of those cards out of the sock drawer and spend something on it so it doesn't get closed down.

I don't have a balance on it and I'm gardening so I didn't want to apply for anything. The Diamond Preferred became a sock drawer card after I paid off the BT. I recently got the Premier mainly for the signup bonus but I played around with their travel portal and I definitely feel like it needs work. It was slow, the results weren't consistent, and the user interface just wasn't very intuitive. I read that they're revamping their travel portal so this may change soon, but for now I feel like it needs work. The 3% earnings with no cap on useful everyday categories like gas and groceries make it a keeper especially if you can use the hotel credit to make up for the annual fee, but I really hope that Citi updates the travel portal. Also, it would be nice if they made the credit easier to use.

I might argue and say double cash or citi rewards are better than custom cash tho I cancelled my double cash after 2 years and when I got my custom cash card. Reason being is a flat 2 percent card is better than a 1 percent card. Yeah you get 5 percent in one category each month, but if you were to have only one card, getting 2 percent in every category would end up making more money.

People do underestimate the potential of the Citi Rewards +. For any purchase under $5.00, it is superior to a 2% card. At the self checkout, there is no rule against ringing up one item separately. Ring up a $1.00 item each time to earn 10%, which to some may not be worth the trouble. But even without intentional spending, the < $5.00 rule is easy to remember. The 10% bonus makes this play well with other Citi Cards. It's a niche card for those who really love maxing their rewards on all purchases.

The citi diamond card plays on people’s egos with the color of the card and the name. Wow a black diamond card this guys a baller lol.
I hear it’s one of the easiest of the citi cards to get.
