Dude your videos are awesome! So concise and informative. You can tell that you actually do the research and don't just copy/paste other TH-camrs like so many other channels are doing these days.
Thank you so much for that! I can definitely say that I put in a lot of research and thought when I’m writing my videos, so always means a lot to hear when people notice!
You packed a lot in there, my friend! Nice job. This is a great topic to discuss, because there are many people (most?) who don’t want to even think about the credit card game. They want it simple, and they want cash. This is their video.
Thanks Danny. #1 on my list is the Capital One Savor One, the most underrated card out there. #2 is our Chase Freedom Flex. #3 are the BoA cards, IF you have preferred rewards. Awesome work on this.
I've been seeing some bad reviews for that card due to AAA not having a good app and several people being unable to apply online because the website crashes every time.
@@johnyapple8447 Bilt actually has a feature that I didn’t get to mention here - but basically you link your bank account and immediately the rent transaction is paid off on the credit card. Great feature that avoid this concern because you’re right, that would be bad!
That list was on point. You got the NF, BOA, and Citi Costco in there. I might have put the BOA custom in A bit other than that, that's a solid list in my book. Recommended additions for evaluation: AAA daily, robinhood gold, WF Attune
Thanks so much, glad you liked the list! Yeah I really do like what that Customized Cash card offers, but the spending cap for the 3% rewards is a bit of a limitation - definitely would be higher in my tier list with the Preferred Rewards program being used though. And yes I realized after I filmed that there were a few cards I left out but I tried to include every one of the current the most popular cards that I could find. Will definitely continue to update content like this and factor in recommendations for cards like those, so thank you!
Fidelity really should be an A tier card considering it has no foreign transaction fee compared to Wells Fargo and Citi 2% options. Also, bummer no review of AAA no annual fee cards
Unpopular opinion, I love my Fidelity card for the reasons you mentioned, plus I just invest the cash back into my brokerage account. Also, they just added more features like 10,000 points ($100) towards Global Entry/TSA PreCheck. Super underrated
bofa card gives 3.5% on groceries if you have platinum honors, and most importantly this category includes walmart and target which are often excluded from the grocery category in other cards
Do you have a video on transferring cash back to miles and the benefits of that? Having 2 cards seems like a lot of work but I'm interested in learning more
There's definitely a couple cards there that I missed! I tried to include as many as I could here haha - will definitely look to expand this tier list to a longer video with even more cards from PNC and others if people are interested!
Great video. But US Bank Altitude Go should 100% be a "S Tier" card with its 4x back on restaurants (one of the highest spend categories for Americans) with no annual fee.
Definitely can see that being a valid thought for people who prefer that card. I would put it in the S tier if the points earned could be used with other US bank cards like the Altitude Reserve - but without that it's stuck at 4x for 4% in value, so that's also kind of why I put it in the A tier personally. Great card though when compared to other no annual fee options for this video 👍
I just got my first credit card, Discover it Student, thanks to your video. Is it true that I should pay the credit card balance 2 to 3 days before the payment is due to get the best credit growth or should I pay whenever I can during the grace period?
I disagree with your assessment of the US Bank Cash+ card. If you live in an area with high utility rates, like California or Arizona, being able to use this card to get 5% back on home utilities is a great option. Also, if you know you are going to be spending a lot on furniture in a given quarter, you can swap that category in and then switch it back out later. Would be interesting to make a follow-up video if you get lots of other comments from folks with a different take. 👍
For some people the Cash+ card could be S tier, but for me I just don't see it as being a high spend category that I need to adjust my whole credit card strategy around just to get approved by US Bank for. But for others I completely understand having it ranked higher - either way I still think it's a good card. But yeah I definitely take all comments into consideration and honestly it really helps to hear what people are saying so I can think about it differently in future content. So thanks for sharing your thoughts, really helps a lot with the content!
One advantage of the active cash that you didn't mention is that it can be paired with the autograph and you can use your active cash rewards with the transfer partners. This pairing is also no annual fee. Another step is getting the signify business credit card if you have a business.
Great video! One question, where would you rank the SoFi credit card? That gets 2.2% cash back if you have direct deposit setup with them, otherwise just 2%.
I'm curious about those premium hotel credit cards you mentioned at the end of you video. Have you made a video discussing these cards and their differences, or is this a potential topic for a future video? With the holidays around the corner, this is usually the time of year that I travel so I'm curious to learn more as I'm not loyal to one chain
I can discuss more in future videos, but I'd say to focus on more flexible points earning cards first before moving to specific hotel cards. Getting a top premium hotel card is best for those who are truly loyal to that hotel and will gladly pay a premium annual fee for the outsized benefits
If you take the rewards certificate to Costco the cashier will pay you out in cash. I hear if your certificate is over $300 you get the option of direct deposit
Good to know! Yeah I did hear that there was a certain amount that could then be paid out via direct deposit, so for some people that will be a nice option
Chase trifecta is generally the best for optimization. Capital one duo is better for convenience. You always know if it's not a savor one category to put the charge on the venture x. Just a tad bit more thought goes into chase because of the 5% rotating categories.
Wondering if you have advice on merging credit cards or a credit card strategy for newly married couples who are (trying) to slowly start combining finances
I'd say B tier for Venmo and A or S tier for AAA Daily Advantage. Definitely like that AAA card more here and some people might say S tier because of the 5% category. Venmo card is fine for one 3% category, but the 2% doesn't nothing special.
Very tough question to pick only 2! If I had to then definitely go Capital One SavorOne, and then potentially Custom Cash, Bilt, or Freedom Flex. But yeah tough to pick only 2 haha
That's the only one that I'm familiar with at the moment. It's very limiting though so I wouldn't say it's worth it - but more of just a taste of what a premium travel card with lounge access can offer
I’m new to the credit card game after watching your videos. Is it realistic to think chase would go to 2% back for the unlimited anytime soon? Or not really?
I was looking the Capital One Savor One card? Did they change the name to just Savor? Can someone please let me know? I am trying to apply for the right card. Thank you!
Fidelity is a top card, simple, 2% and you can put in a Roth IRA which also will lower folks tax bill, you had some bias about investing with a credit card company but fidelity is one of the largest discount brokers in the world. Way better than the dozens of banks you elevated. Costco card rebate is every feb and if you have over $200, you can deposit directly into your own financial institution. Lastly don’t sleep on the Sam’s Club Card, probably one of the best out there, not included on your list.
Fidelity card is fine as 2% is the standard. Taking those cash back proceeds and directing them to any investment account is something that anyone can do with another other cash back card by just tracking and moving cash accordingly, so other cards earning 3-5% back are technically better (even though doing it automatically with the Fidelity card is a plus). What I mean by keeping credit card strategy and investing separate is that there's more upside value to the points and miles with credit cards vs cash back - therefore I view my credit card rewards as a way to subsidize my travel costs because I love to travel (not everyone does though). Good tip about the Costco card! And Sam's Club could be a good one to check out as well if that makes sense for shopping there and gas spend as well. Would probably put Sam's Club card in A/B tier depending on the person. It's all subjective as well, so my opinions are only meant to hopefully give some insight - but everyone can decide for themselves what's most valuable as well. Thanks for watching and providing some feedback - much appreciated!
@@Daniel_Braun good points but the fidelity platform is so much better for investing vs any of the other credit cards so getting people on the platform is such a win/win for consumers.

The Apple cards’s 3% cash back at Apple is such a joke to me considering I get 5% back at Apple using the US Bank Cash+
Sure, but you don’t get the financing option for any Apple product you buy at 0% interest.
Yeah but financing means carrying a balance, and we don't do that for a phone. Assuming the card is 0 balance at time of purchase. @@mace400

Side note for navy fed cards: they are known for giving really high credit limits. Even if you don't plan on using it much it's worth it imo
