I guess they don't miss the free university education, no mortgages or college loans, an apartment to live in that is provided for by the state, no homeless or drug addicts in the street, a job that you could get after graduation, a living wage, no human trafficking by the mafia, no classism. I guess they don't miss those things. You can't lump the entire 75 years of the USSR into the shitty Stalin years. Things got better after that son-of-a-bitch was dead, and then got bad again during Perestroika. I read the same exact thing about initiative in a book by an American farmer who spent time on a Soviet communal farm (kolkhoz). He saw lots of things they were doing that were totally inefficient but no one wanted to implement any new ideas, or stick their nose out. To do so could be dangerous and make others look bad (also dangerous).

I was online dating a lady from Nikoalev( The city of saint Nicholas, the saint of seafarers) and my understanding from her was the ratio of men to women, there was some mention of alcohol and physical abuse but that was not prevalent in high proportion. I would live there because I am a seafarer. It is a very appealing city.

As a Hungarian I recognize a lot of similarities with what Olga has spoken about in the last 2 videos.
