    One of my favorite video's of yours. You say many nice things about your country and show people trying to improve it. I have friends in Poltova/Nikaloev/Odessa and all they do is put your country down. I keep telling them that the Ukraine is a far better place than they understand and if they just pitched in to make it better and stay to make the economy stronger it will one day be a top country. I know many Americans that want to move there who can work from home because it reminds them of America in days past As far as dangerous neighborhoods over there i found that if you are aware of your surroundings and dont do anything stupid there are no real dangerous neighborhoods. carry yourself well and pay attention and enjoy the surroundings the same as anywhere ////// Great video Great attitude!!!!!!!

    That’s not a bad neighborhood..... the cars are still in one piece, you didn’t trip over any bums, no garbage in the alleys, no graffiti, no cop cars flying down the road with the sirens blasting..... so basically a nice area to retire if you’re from NY, LA, or Chicago. 😉

    My wife is from an area very close to Dorohozhychi. She grew up in Svyatoshyns'kyi, just one or two metro stops further out. She lived in a "Khruschevski" the standand 5 story apartment building. Had a modern shopping center with fancy shops, restaurants, etc. Great kids playgrounds. I am wondering if Olga thinks that is a criminal area. That would be news to me. We now live in a a great suburb in Washington, DC, but I would move back to Kiev in a second. Great people, great food, and wonderful parks, etc. Greatest opera and symphony in the world. Great culture. I am thinking of buying a place in or near Kiev (Kyiv) and in Yalta in the Crimea. Fantastic and cheap country to buy a house or apartment and to live. Fantastic place.

    The variations among Kyiv's districts in terms of criminality are actually very small compared to the variations among US neighborhoods... the district depicted here, Troyeschyna, is like North Hollywood compared to the South Bronx or Liberty City in Miami. Kyiv is characterized by homogeneity of most of its regions outside the center of town.

    The first part of the video (Stroechnya area) seems like a typical 1960s 'Khruschevska' drab public apartment housing where they used hollow concrete blocks. Any neighbor could hear the guy next door due to the poor sound insulation. It was Khrushchev's big and popular public housing project block initiative in the USSR - cheap and many were given practically free by the State !

    “ The most criminal neighborhood in Kyiv” sensational statement at best . I know this area , it is not bad at all , it is actually as safe an area as anywhere else in Kyiv . Instead of the aforementioned undeserved label, you could have used “crime infested area “, which would have been untrue too but the blame lies on your English proficiency. It is true , the area in not served the metro network , but other means of public transportation are available and most residents of the area are as hardworking as anywhere else in Kyiv. The area has all all services , commercial and otherwise and it does not have debilitated or run down buildings Besides , obviously , you have not seen real slums and real scary hoods some where else in some prosperous countries . Please!

    • @j_freed
      @j_freed 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luis Jave - Canada has TEN times that number of cases tested (20,000) even with over five million fewer people than Ukraine.
      Canada also doesn't have widespread testing, it's usually done only when illness is suspected so the stats don't mean very much yet. But now we are seeing a daily 10% increase in reported covid-19 diagnoses and deaths - we are still getting to the peak of some possibly really big numbers. We don't know. Ukraines stats are probably even less representative.
      Physical Distancing is only one factor that can point to the statistics you correlate, and many of us might already be carriers of virus from February or earlier if we stay indoors or walk alone in parks. Canada could easily be facing 100-200 thousand deaths in the end no matter what we do with the best crisis handling. The death tolls will start to leap and people will stay in more, certainly avoiding people if they have to go outside.

    .... The area may be a bit drab, but from what I've read, and seen on various travel channels, Kyiv may have the most parks of any major city in Europe. They are lushishly green with beautiful flowers and are usually close by, just a bus or short walk away.....Under normal or typical circumstances, they provide a great area for Kyiv's residents, to get out, take a walk, exercise or just sit on a park bench and watch the world go by. I'm sure, under these dire conditions, it's one of the things they miss the most.

    Привіт! Very nice video! When Corona passes, I will be visiting Kyiv for 2 weeks. Although I won't be alone, I was wondering if there are certain parts of the city that maybe should not be visited by tourists? I speak Russian, and understand Ukrainian, but I don't want some troubles 😅...

      Actually if you are coming for tourism, you don't need to go to residential neighbourhoods, because there is nothing touristic at all)

    • @jayalexander121
      @jayalexander121 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Olga_Reznikova maybe Airbnb will be in residential area? May as well pay a few hryvnias more to be in the centre of the city though 😊

    I enjoy your videos and your lovely presentation. Do the people who live in these neighborhoods have to travel far to get to grocery store?

    • @Olga_Reznikova
      @Olga_Reznikova  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      no, groceries are always near, whatever far you are living hehe) This is standard - in any place 5 min walk and you will reach to some shop for sure.

    Such kind of neighborhood is much nicer than noisy tight overcrowded city center)) My microdiscrict in Kharkov's cityedge looks a lot like this, but a little bit better, it has more comfortable benches (and more of these) and more modern work out grounds... And also, in our micro district there is NO building built after the collapse of USSR, only Soviet architecture. And this is very charming.

    In America criminal neighborhoods don't have dog parks, so i think this neighborhood here in Kyiv still looks safer than most communities in america.
