- (No Commentary Showcase) In this video, I show off the Sonic 3 '14 Project which recreates Angel Island Zone, and other aspects of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, in RSDK4 using Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2013). This mod is based off the Christian Whitehead & Simon Thomley proof of concept video which released back in 2014.

With Sonic 3 AIR existing, I don't think a ton of people are interested in decompiling Origins S3K sadly.

To be fair, back then, Christian Whitehead had legal issues to contend with, hence why Sonic 3K couldn't get a widescreen port until Origins.

Imagine having Whitehead versions of all of the classic Sonic games (including Sonic 1, Sonic 2, this fan version of 3 & Knuckles, Sonic CD, and Sonic Mania Plus) in a single collection, no bs?

Whitehead lent the Retro Engine to Headcannon, he himself went to remaster Sonic 3K instead of Whitehead
We have that on the Ps Vita, except for S3K :'[

The fact that they turned sonic 2 into sonic 3 is insane
well technically thats how sonic 2 & 3 were recreated.
sonic 2 started off with sonic 1's engine
and sonic 3 started off with sonic 2's engine
for s&k im definetely sure they started with s3 because in prerelease versions sonic 3 zones were still present

common misconception actually. any genesis cartridge that’s not sonic 2 or 3 gets you blue sphere. however, the level it gives you upon startup is pre-determined depending on which game is on top. sonic 1 starts you off at the first blue sphere level.

What happens :
a very interesting idea, but at this point we already have Origins, and Sonic 3 AIR, so it ends up becoming a bit obsolete
3 air even has a semi ios port.

I know a lot of ways to play sonic 3 on android, but this is the coolest.
this is a real sonic 3 I managed to play, I could even go to angel island zone act 1&2, it would still be great to make hydrocity, but it's not a bad port

I’m assuming the game functions just as Sonic 2, where after you go in a Special Stage, you lose all the rings you have
@Beenixice I was thinking that was a possibility. This being based on the Sonic 2 mobile version, I guess it's still in the code somewhere. Kind of weird.

@Jet Set Sonic Then got brought back to Origins (but made by Stealth)
AIR: Built off the original S3K code for Genesis, all functions rewritten and modified to work on computers CPUs natively. Basically a huge mod of the original S3K, if the definition is heavily understated.
Origins: a whole collection of the previously done mobile remakes of the first 3 mainline genesis sonic games (Sonic 1, CD, 2) and Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Sonic 3K in this collection was built from the ground up with Sonic Mania's engine (RSDKv5) like the previous mobile remakes (although they were made in RSDKv4).
This: A fanmade RSDKv4 mod remaking S3K based off the 2014 concept released by CW and Stealth.
Sonic 3 AIR was created from original rom and ported to Oxygen Engine,Sonic Origins version is created on RSDKv5,this mod is created on RSDKv4.

Brah I just got all classic games. 4 player Sonic 1. Classic Heroes for Sonic 2. And all I needed was Sonic 3 but they removed it off Steam. So my question is can I download this with mods ? And can I download onto my pc? 😅
