In my opinion the best airgun book ever written, I bought two! One to use and one to be kept mint.
Only a limited print run so get one while you can
A superb book and as John has pointed out printed on high quality glossy paper which makes this a very heavy book. I don't think we will ever see the likes it again. To all you collectors and enthusiasts out there this is "The" reference book for spring air pistols. It must have taken a very long time to research. For the price it is a bargain.
I once repaired a Westley Richards highest possible second variant for a chap who lived near me in South Yorkshire. It was complete with its original box packaging and instruction leaflet. Unfortunately for me, he didn't want to sell it
Absolutely stunning work of love!
Hi Trevor, isn’t it amazing? So happy to give John the opportunity to demonstrate his knowledge and enthusiasm. What a treat. Cheers, Matt
Wonderful
absolutely fascinating mate . and that fellow definitely knows his stuff . plus has some very cool guns 🤪
Thanks Paul, we did two other vids when I visited too, both very interesting and showing some very rare air pistols. I’m looking forward to putting those together. Cheers mate
Enjoyed this video very much! Matt how are you doing putting a video together showing John's shop and photos ? Keep up the good work!
Hello mate, maybe one day but the work involved organising and editing loads of pictures with no video has put it a bit low on the list to be honest. John’s not planning on making any more prototypes as far as I know either. We did do two other very interesting air pistol vids when I visited John so keep an eye out for those in the future. Glad you liked this one, cheers!
Holy novel of pneumatic knowledge! I NEED this so bad it hurts! (Compendium didn't rhyme)
Is there somewhere in the USA where I could get a copy?
Only available from the shop ‘Protek Supplies’ in the U.K. but they can ship to the U.S. might be worth a few of you getting some sent over to split the postage? We did a similar thing for Larry Hannush’s book from USA to U.K. we all chipped in and got 20 sent to U.K. at once and the postage was quite cheap.
Brilliant. Will this book be available in public libraries?
That’s a good question, I believe the British library will have one. Don’t know how local libraries obtain books?
@@dkjngl1 Either way, I'm inclined to buy it. What a wealth of information for little more than the cost of a restaurant meal for two!
@@bikeralw I think it’s a bargain personally…I paid £120 for a second hand copy of the first edition, and this one is a huge improvement… I don’t think John has produced this masterpiece with profit in mind tbh😊
I own both a 177 and 22 models of the BSA Scorpion and their original boxes - Could you give me some idea of their value?
I don’t know but a quick search online suggests at least £150 depending on condition. The .177 is less common. Cheers
Thanks, will do some research. @@dkjngl1
Niceee but will be expensive to send outside the uk
Check with Protek Supplies 👍
@@dkjngl1 i already watched there 👍😉 thanks
Ok mate, it’s a big book! 😊
@@dkjngl1 yes it’s on my list 👍😉 beautiful book
Expensive to send inside the UK too.....😮
Too small pictures
Well if they had been any bigger it would have had to be two books.
@@JohnGriffiths-ko9fz or bigger book
@@MxxABS The book has 500 pages and weighs 2.4 kilos. Any bigger would not have been possible to bind with affordable binding technology, and would also have been too heavy to read and too expensive to post.
any chance of doing a video of tuning springers like the hatsun air tac & the stoeger x20 s2 to add bit more power & silance the twang from spring
Afraid not as I don’t have those and they are a bit modern for this channel. Lots of vids out there on tuning springers though and the same principles should apply to different models. Thanks 😊
@@dkjngl1 not found many usaly 10 mins and most of its shooting or one with cutting up cans to do it
@@dkjngl1 i got a old pre war vintage rifle
Usually cleaning off all the manufactures grease from the spring and lightly lubricating the spring with moly grease can help. The ‘beer can piston sleeve’ can work very well to reduce the noise and make a springer shoot nicer, it reduces the vibration of the spring inside the piston, which is what makes a lot of the noise. My ‘tuning a vintage airgun’ video is as much as I’ll do on this subject probably. Cheers
