    I wonder why this watch is overlooked in all the submariner vs seamaster comparisons. This is the watch that Omega put all their effort and latest innovations in. Anti magnetic in house movement, one of the best on the market. Great bezel, really on par with Rolex. Quick adjustable bracelet, a see through caseback,... I bought it 1,5 years ago and couldn't be happier. I personally like that they faked the vintage lume as current lumoniva doesn't age so you will never get that yellow color with the current watches on the market.

    I've been trying to decide on my next watch and have been to look at Tudor (Pelagos and the range of Black Bays) and this watch. I'm going to save some more money and buy the Omega. After handing it and trying it on I'm convinced. That movement is beautiful and I love the see through case back. It has 4 years warranty (twice that of Tudor)and a service interval of 10 years. I'm not a diver and appreciate the more refined look and this is awesome quality. I went to an Omega boutique to see the watch and If you're able to do the same,I strongly recommend it. This is an outstanding watch brand and being able to see all their range is a treat. The time to save the extra money will be worth it for me.

    I have this watch and it sits really nice on the wrist. It is a dress diver watch if that is a style of watch now. The more I wear it the more I like it. The movement is a masterpiece. The white second had would disappear among the other hands if it was silver. This review is pretty spot on. From a owners prospective who gets to see lots of nice watches this one is highly recommend.

  • @johndoe-ln4oi
    @johndoe-ln4oi 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Great video and presentation! I have had mine for about 7 months. I agree that the polished center links are not practical but that seems to be the popular thing now with Omega and Rolex, and they do allow this watch to dress up well in a suit. The muted dial and bezel add to the evening elegance. The Co-axial movement is possibly the best technological movement in the industry right now and the 15,000 gauss rating is actually 15,000+, but they have not been able to test it in an environment with more magnetism than that. Mine runs about +1/2 a second day, so the accuracy is outstanding. At $6600 dollars, it is ahead of other watches in the same price range, or 35% higher.

    I went back and forth on this watch for a long time because, as is stated in the review, it is rather tall. But I love everything else about it. I had to settle on a diver and it was between a new version of this watch and a worn 2015 ceramic submariner no-Date. In the end I went with this watch because I felt like I loved the Submariner because it is a submariner, but I loved this watch because I just thought it was a stunning watch. So I made a gut decision to go with this watch and, unlike most of my watch purchases, I have not looked back.

    • @redmarpostma7435
      @redmarpostma7435 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Does it wear tall on the wrist? Like the lugs almost go over the edge of your wrist?

    • @mannycalavera2335
      @mannycalavera2335 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@redmarpostma7435 This is a watch that does wear tall on the wrist. The diameter around the bezel is pretty restrained at 41mm, but because it is tall as well it has an overall pretty chunky feeling to it which some may or may not like. The lugs are straight and long. On my large flat wrist it sits very comfortably and the design of the lugs is one of the things I like about it. However, for people with a smaller size wrist those long straight lugs are pretty unforgiving. They look odd when they extend past the wrist. Overall I love the dimensions and it wears well. But personally I would not recommend this watch for people with a wrist size under 7 inch or so.

    Hi Bruce, there is one cool function on this watch that is the "jumping hour" like the GMT master II or Explorer II. This is very useful while travelling, adjusting the local time without stopping the seconds and moving the minutes hand. I don't mind not having the date function, I prefer this one actually rather than been bothered by the date setting everytime I travel

    Great watch. I went with the Aqua Terra in the end because I love the teak dial, hands, and applied logo. Its pretty versatile as well, maybe a bit more on the dress side. The only real downside is how awful it looks on a NATO. The 300 has a superior clasp than the butterfly on the AT but I think you can buy the clasp from Omega.

It's all based on personal preferences. Some may care and some may not. I personally feel a good portion of Omega's charm comes from it's presentation. Great review. I have this watch and it is one of my favorites on the wrist, of course I prefer a bit more wrist presence. I haven't worn it with a nato yet but with the bracelet it doesn't feel like it rides too high for me. The way the outer case and the lugs are shaped it actually appears thinner than it is, much more so compared to my Tudor GMT which is about the same width in measure but appears to ride much higher.

    The bezel isn't completely made with Liquidmetal alloy. It's a ceramic bezel with the numeric indices deep-filled with the alloy; it's the only type of metal that could effectively fill the small crevices via thermoplastic deformation at elevated temperatures. The alloy is also several times more scratch-resistant than steel, so it will stay looking almost brand new no matter the degree of abuse the watch goes through. Love Omega and how they're always pushing innovation in mechanical watchmaking design. In this regard, they're the superior to Rolex.

  • @TheBarts27

    Great watch but it has a few flaws that could be improved. An applied Omega logo would be nice. It would give a little bit more debt to the dial. It would also give it a little bit more luxurios dial, because the dial is all printed. The seconds hand is indeed the wrong colour and too white. It should be the same as the other hands. Maybe with a small lume pip. The bracelet is great but the polished center links are a mistake. Brushed center links would be better. I understand that this is a vintage diver and that Omega wanted to stay close to the original but the improvements that I mentioned would have been allright imho. Great review Bruce. It is still a beautiful watch that is still on my radar. It is hard to choose between this one and the Speedmaster professional moonwatch.

      @@bouncinbeau good to know. They quote 15.5mm but who knows. Have been holding off purchasing the two tone rose gold version due to the thickness of it.

    Beautiful. Omega should offer a version with a date function in place of the Arabic No. 3 on the dial. I believe the original watch came in both date and no-date versions.

    It's the seamaster I choose and agree its wonderful. Only gripes are the thickness little bit much and the polished surfaces wish was more brushed.

    I'm not knocking Rolex as I'm a Rolex customer, but the quality of that Omega looks just as good as Rolex offerings and technically better. I do prefer the design of the Submariner in most instances over the Seamaster, but the Omega 300 mc is a game changer for me. Definitely one I look to add to my collection.

    The loom on this one is a tritium color which is better than the darker radium color of the trilogy imo

      @Mert Kabakci Will say, as an owner with calipers, only the bezel is 41mm. The case itself is 39 wide by 48 long. It's not even that thick; both the top and back crystals are domed, so they add quite a bit of height, but the metal to metal measurements are 12mm. Virtually identical to the Submariner. Omega usually measures by the bezel, to their loss (see: speedmaster reduced "35mm")

    Another great review, this is my favorite Omega. Glad they brought this model back, but I felt like they should had kept it going since the original. That way it would had rival the Submariner in heritage and continuity.

    I think it’s got vintage charm and lots of character. So many dive watches these days are starting to look very generic. This piece has an understated cool. It’s really not trying too hard to get your attention but will wink at you when it catches the light right. As for patina, my take is that it will just add to the lived in vintage look. Sometimes when watches are just too pristine they look wrong. A dive watch showing it’s wear is a cool thing for a tool watch. A super shiny watch is more fitting to a clinical business environment. This one is built for jeans and a bike jacket. Right up my street.

    Only thing I’d change about this watch is I’d replace the master co axial chronometer writing with Seamaster 300 but I guess they save that for the Trilogy version.

    I have to admit that I'm an Omega Guy, as most if not all Rolexes leave me cold. That said, this Seamaster 300 is a nice re-imagining of the original. Not so sure about the aged radium (pronounced RAY-dee-um in the US, lol) lume though. I have it on a Steinhart OVM and its peachy color drives me nuts. On this watch it appears more brownish/tan and is less offensive to my eye. Would I pick this over a Planet Ocean? Probably not, but I appreciate the attention to detail that Omega devoted to this watch. Great review as always, Bruce!

      Lee K thanks Lee. I must admit I have a hard time pronouncing things right on camera. I've been making a conscious effort to say 'height' and not 'heighth' but I still get that wrong most times. I'll ad Ray-dium to the list :D

    Nice vid and lovely watch .....its very expensive - I would consider it but that polished bracelet kills it for me - the brushed of the planet ocean would look better on it in my own view. Would be sick on the right distressed leather tho....

    I think the dial is visually superior to the updated 2021 model. It retains the heritage of the original 1957 model really well, whereas the 2021 model looks overdone but also too simple simultaneously.
