- Today we are back at the house we bought in Abruzzo Italy for Only 19K
Welcome to our new channel. This will be a series featuring our new adventure.
The story and renovation of a really cheap home we bought in the beautiful region of Abruzzo ITALY for ONLY €19K
Let's be honest, you can't even get a bathroom renovated for that much money in Australia, yet we found an Italian Home for Sale for less than €20K.
Truth be told, this house will need a lot of renovation works to make of it a home. The bones are great, so at least we can have a good start.
Some work will be for sure DIY as much as we can to keep it on a low budget. We do not want to over capitalise!
It is a stone home in a gorgeous historical village in Abruzzo, which is thousands of years old! The house itself might be a few hundred years old.
We can't wait to start revealing patiently the stories and truths of our inexpensive Italian Stone House.
Our idea is to show you every step of the way. The progress, the frustration, the achievements and the cost... So that you can see for yourselves if a Cheap Italian Home is an option as your Italian Dream Home.

The Terrazzo floor is beautiful. They do have companies who clean them with a machine and that really brought mine back to life. Best advice I can give you is get a lot of estimates on new double insulated windows and doors. I had my entire house windows and doors replaced and it was only about 4,500 euros. Sounds like a lot, but will make a huge difference in keeping your house warm and cool. Do you know how you are going to heat your house? Electricity is very expensive here. I bought 1 small pellet stove and a second large one. It heats my house well. BTW ACE is a strong brand of bleach. Also there is a 2 part paint you can use on your bathtub until you wish to replace it. Easy to apply and once dried, won't peel off. I am very interested in your progress. You both work so hard.
I subscribed. But I have one wish: could you make english subtiteles for you conversations in italian when you talk to people ? That would be nice 😊❤
Greetings from Kyiv, Ukraine. Your courage and determination are impressive. I actually finished a project similar to yours just before the start of the war, so I know how much work and patience it takes. But it's definitely worth it because house has great potential. I hope to somehow contribute and will eagerly await the next episodes.
Suggest that you remove that Ivy. It is probably causing the cracks that have allowed the damp to get behind the plaster. I would make fixing those a priority. You are in for plenty of hard work, but it will be worth it for sure. Best wishes to you.
👍
Even just the cleaning brings a huge sense of accomplishment! Well done, guys! 💪 🎉
Yes it does!
Ok for the Q&A what is the ultimate plan? Are you fixing this up and moving south? Can you do a walk about in town? How many beds/baths? Is it bigger than the Molise house? Town population? Can your animals come next visit? Your cat needs to do her inspection for mice 😂 plus she will like to stand on that balcony.
Wow. Questa vista sul balcone è bellissima
Forza ragazzi, un posto magico
Love the views and the balcony is large enough to sit out there and have your coffee. Can’t wait to see all your renovations.
Great value for money I'd say. Great views. Though I'd probably not bother about cleaning that bathroom. Get a camping toilet for the time being and just get it renovated first thing. I'm amazed how easy the plaster comes off. Hope we'll see nice stone ceilings soon😍. Good to hear about all the little problems you're facing with the providers of water and electricity. 2 months for a contract. Would have never thought about that... Good luck. I'll follow along
👍
Those views, guys! For me it's all about the view!
I loved the "well deserved lunch". And the clean up was good also. 😀
New subscriber...since I was just coincidentally in Abruzzo and stayed in Teramo, and visited two smaller local villages. Very beautiful spot, but man, the work ahead is intimidating. Following your lead. Please, show us a bit of the local people, culture, more food too. I have a couple restaurant suggestions in Teramo to dig up from my receipt pile.
You have such wonderful light and incredible views from this house! And incredible vaulted ceilings. I love it! You have made a good first start. Bit by bit it will come together. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much Nancy!
I wish you well on your renovation journey and dealing with bureaucracy! Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa.🇿🇦 🎉
Gloves too
Love the size of the main rooms, and what a view.
Definitely need an industrial cleaner
Morning Fiorella & Aiden, do you guys have a little laser measuring device, their awesome and I’d highly recommend it, also can you get gumption cleaning paste over there? it would be awesome to clean the bathroom, and definitely get rid of ALL the ivy as it will suck all the moisture out the mortar in the stonework. Love their episode 💖Shell 🇦🇺
Thanks ♥️. Haven't bought the measuring thingy yet
what a view!
It seems like moving to small town Italy is like paying cheap on a solid house and investing on the beautiful views! Awesome! Why Abruzzo though?
Hi Fiorella and Aden!
It's so exciting to follow you guys on this journey. Your house is so big and bright. I can see all the potential it has to be an amazing home.
Fiorella, I had some stains on a tub once and the only thing that removed them was a liquid called, "CLR, Calcium, Lime and Rust remover." I bought it on Amazon. I hope it helps!
Thanks. I didn't think about CLR. Used it in OZ for other things so thanks for the reminder
Fiorella when/ how did you learn to speak Italian? Or are you just a wizard with languages?
Im sure that will be an lovely apartment. And the view from bathroom is amazing🌄
21:01 when Aiden is measuring you can see an eye shape on the wall to the left 😂. The house is watching you. ❤
😂 It should be a good 👁️. We did clearing and saged it ☀️
Working with the right tools is something else... You bought the mask but not the equipment O_o the broom for scratching the wall, the hammer for the hedge--- O_o
What a great project and what a view! The loose and discoloured plaster indicates a water leak. Did you check the state of the roof?
Any idea on the condition of your roof? A lot of work ahead but you will be happy along its journey I suspect. Have fun.
Ciao. The roof is in good condition
Best of luck.Beautiful view
Que linda esa casa! Con amor y paciencia se hacen cosas maravillosas!
You need to ask your neighbours if they are willing to connect a hose, so you have water. It is going to be extremely difficult to clean otherwise.
👍
Excited to see the transformation! 😊 How far apart are your homes in Molise and Abruzzo, will you commute each day?
Hi. They're about 2 hrs apart if you account for pit stops. Some times we will commute on the same day
Congratulations! Tanti auguri! I'm excited for you both and for us because I can't wait to see the progression!
Thank you so much!!
Excited to have found your channel. Congratulations on the purchase. The house has tons of potential and the views are fabulous. All the best from two Kiwis living part time in New Zealand and France
🇳🇿 🇫🇷 😊
Thanks so much!
I hope you restore the old doors and windows.
in bocca al lupo ragazzi, vi seguiro
Wow I like it already, it’s going to be great & what a view from the bath! Love watching you guys
Thanks so much! 😊
Surprisingly large common areas.
Oh my gosh, you found such a treasure! Just that little bit of time and it looks much better already. So excited for you two. Will you eventually sell or rent the house in Montecilfone?
Wow a lot of 22:13 hard work ahead but well done with all you did! The place looks amazing and lovely spacious rooms so
Can’t wait to see the renovations 👍
👍
I believe the pipes back up
Beautiful views, i know the home will look beautiful when you are finished ❤️ why don't you resurface the tub?thanks for sharing.
Bravo, Im sore it will turn amazing 😊 Gloves for your heads its to strong prod. ❤
I do not understand why they came to hook up the electricity and then refused to do it.
What about the water?
If the water has been shut off for some time I imagine all seals have dried out and will leak when you do get it turned on.
Ciao
Regarding the electricity, they expected that the hole to put the meter was already done by us, which nobody told us during our conversations with the electricity company. Luckily we found another spot that didn't need the hole, so it was installed.
The views are stunning! I envy you but I'm glad I'm not the one doing it. Good luck! 😊
😂
I will say...it is a project, but the tile work is very nice.
Vinegar will remove calcium stains in the bathroom if they are still lingering. Would a karcher be too much to sweep all that plaster away and clean the floors? Lovely views. Can't wait to witness the progress.
Ciao. What's a Karcher?
Lovely new window…the green color from nature is beautiful!…can you make your videos longer?…🤭…I just enjoy them so much!…😊
Oh, thanks so much. We'll try ♥️
Benvenuti in Italia
Love this first to watch I I subscribed just like I did to your other
Wonderful 🎉❤
Thanks 🤗
Hey with best greetings and Wishes from Austria Vienna, I follow your other Channels too and I love it all 🎉❤
Grazie 😘
What is the size of the house? Can't wait to see the process
Increíble!! Por davor a house tour para poder entender mejor como es la casa !!! El lugar parece alucinante !! Gracias !!
Si, esa es la idea 👍
Wanted to do the same, so very interested in your project
For the bathroom I suggest ammoniaca profumata. Don’t mix it with bleach. It helps with that kind of dirtiness. Ventilate the room as much as possible during the work.
Where in Abruzzo is your house located? Such a beautiful view to the forest and nice pavement on the street.
Thanks
The doors look beautiful might be usable with sanding and a coat of paint… looking good
We hope so. Some are quite thin and may not provide any insulation
Suuuper!!! I would definitely buy such a house. Maybe you know similar?
You can check our Home tour channel and see what is available that catches your eye and budget

Awesome Thanks ♥️
Can’t wait to follow your renovation! I’m really interested as this is around the budget that I would like to spend. Was it easy to find something at that price point that wasn’t a ruin? Can I ask which town / area in Abruzzo? Lastly, I think totally worth it for views alone!
Hi. It took many, many years of looking but we believe that when it's your time one will find what one is after... However we need to be ready to compromise a little specially at the low budget end of the market
Great job!
Thanks!
I don't understand the layout of your house or if there's an attic? Is it one floor up the stairs or is there a ground floor? Could you explain please?
Ciao. We will do a tour video soon.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Live your Chanel such great prices and friendly people you two are. Question;are prices coming down? What area, what price, how much to fix on a 80 square meters home!
Don't understand your question about prices coming down, can you please give context?
Depending on what type of professional you use for the renovation it could be from about €700 to €1,500 per sqm but of course it depends on what you want to do and the current state of the place
Congrats again!! We hope to follow in yr foot steps soon :) We're curious. Could you, if its possible for u to share with us (just an estimate, not exact nbr necessary:) - what sort of notary fees, housing agent fees (if any) taxes did u hv to pay? E.g. like $20k ish? extra on top of purchase price on fees n taxes? Thank you, any info appreciated ❤😊
Ciao.
Taxes are 9% if it's not your main residence
Realtor fees can be 2 to 4%
Notaries can vary a lot depending on notary and whether you do your purchase remotely so we recommend you to get quotes. Usually 2 to 4K
Wheres the home depot
How long did it take you to learn Italian?
you need a bigger hammer, best of luck on your adventure.
Sure, we just started doing that while the electricity people were doing their job
You all have your work cut out for you.
19 000 євро?
Si
all those vines and plants are damaging the house.
Si
Wear masks whilst working in there … lead asbestos etc… you know?’
