Morning Derek. I feel so sorry for you mate. You seem to have no luck at all. Both car have trouble. As the saying goes..... "It never rains but it poors" Hope things turn out with this one. Great video as always, makes for great content. Love your dry humour. Keep Smiling Derek. Alan
Aw. thank you very much. Yes, everything is crap at the moment. It just seems to have gathered up all at once. At least Freda is getting better and it's a new year and things can only go up! Thanks for getting the humour too, if it sounds sarcastic, then I've done it wrong. Cheers!
Before changing a turbo one must find the cause of the defect. Mostly the oil feeder and return must be replaced too.Specially the return line gets hot and the oil will burn inside so it will clogg.
Keep an eye on Amazon for oil, a while back I picked up Shell HX7 £17.00 for 5 litres with free shipping. Just checked now price is back up to £26.00, they have offers all the time.
Very informative and helpful if you want to try this at home on your own. before you put everything back together, do you not need to add a few drops of NEW engine oil inside the turbo, through the feeder pipe area before re-attaching it, to lubricate the bearings and spindle parts before first starting up the engine?
@@sleepycatpictures1176 Had a reply back from the garage. The car went in on a recovery truck today, (thank heavens for home start recovery)!! There is a hole in the rubber pipe or summit causing a leak and preventing it from working. They said it's going to be about a £120.00 or so fix. So no new turbo required. My Fusion has done 146k now, fingers crossed and silver linings, still going strong. (Cam belt and water pump done at 97k, new clutch at 110k.) 1.4 TDCI 06 PLATE😃TLC =Happy Fusion👍
@@willward952 That's good news! I was going to suggest a boost leak but as there is no intercooler, a leak is fairly rare. Unlike my 2.2 Vectra that had a riddled intercooler!
hi thanks for those great videos. I noticed you PCV hose doesn't go straight to the compressor hose, is there any reason for that? I have the same engine and the PCV valve is permanently open. I was thing to do the same thing to prevent the compressor from sucking air from the PCV valve.
It was an experiment to try and reduce the amount of oil being drawn into the turbo. It failed, however, I am going to try a Catch Can from Fourby in the near future - weather permitting!
Changed mine the other day but that rubber o ring on the turbo inlet is a shocking design, it should be just 2 8mm bolts not that daft locating pin. I'm losing oil from it as I can't nip that locating pin up tight so it won't seat correctly.
Cheers! I have to admit, after finding oil in the new turbo and then after a good blast, finding that it is clear, I still have no definitive answer. Just tootling around, there seems to be a lot of oil present, but after a good blast, it's fine. I don't know. We'll see what happens when it's MOT time!
i bought wheel bearings from ebay 10 mins and the wheel flew off the car and bounced into a wall by the side of the road luck i was right outside my flat so. got my tool kit and got the car back home. after that everything i buy is from eurocarparts there really cheap and are the same brands that garages use.
Hi, i noticed i have no glow light on my dash, fiesta van,1,4 tdci 2005, should it light up? with a flash light i can see the symbol in the dash, car starts fine, runs fine. would it be a simple bulb needs changing or is led type, or could it be something else? great video's keep it up.
Presumably, that would relate to the sensor in the rubber pipe after the turbo. Try it disconnected, then replace? Don't honestly know. Never come across that. Good Luck!
I have another problem with the Clutch Master Cylinder I have seen that there is leakage of alcohol and the Clutch separation is almost above the pedal affects the Clutch Master Cylinder on the performance of the Clutch .. tell me what to do what needs to be replaced ?
@@klodianshote186 If you are driving along a road in top gear and you floor the accelerator and the engine revs up but you go no faster, then the clutch is worn and needs replacing. If the master cylinder is leaking, it shares the brake resevoir, then it will need replacing. If you have to have a new clutch, replace the slave cylinder too as it is in the bellhousing with the clutch.
@@klodianshote186 Remove the rubber inlet pipe on the turbo and jiggle the internal shaft. If it moves a lot, then the bearings have gone and it needs replacing. The shaft floats on engine oil and when there is too much wear, the oil is drawn into the engine and burnt. My first Fusion did this and one night on the way home from work it exploded and ruined the engine!
When i ride my fusion sometimes as i change gears its like the clutch keeps slipping even when i have let go off it. Only when i brake and stop or slow down and switch gear it runs normal. Is that a clutch problem?
Yes, probably. We had a new clutch put in Old Stinky in 2018. The pedal is close to the top now and it should last for years! I don't think they are very good at all. They just seem to wear out faster then normal.
Sleepy Cat Pictures good to hear you might want to fit a catch can/ the pipe that that comes off you rocker cover goes to the turbo so that might be letting a little oil / fumes trough might has as much oil as yours :)
Don’t know why but this man reminds me of John shuttleworth😂😂 good video 👍
*I do not understand the language of the video but the images tell me everything to change my turbo congratulations. Angel.*
Thank you. Hope it helps!

Cracked me up with the "test bed" line.
As a spaniard, I realise my english has been improving lately 'cause I'm able to understand you. Anyway, thanks for the video
Your English writing is good too!

Thank you. I changed the pipe anyway. The problem is somewhere else. I think the engine might be done. The MOT test will tell us.

Hm, never thought of Amazon for oil. It's usually the local Econamy Spares or Halfords.

Yup, nailed it! Makes it easier to remove but not as secure.
Really enjoyed it from start to finish, thanks for that one and a shame about the result. Cheap ebay pay twice stuff

Don't worry about it, the light never comes on with either of our Fusions with the same engine!
Thanks for good job 👍
Unless I missed it, shouldn’t you replace the oil and filter with a turbo replacement to prevent damage to the new unit?
Thanks David. Yes, I would recomend that. Can't remember if I did or not now!
Mine keeps coming up with boost sensor high current any ideas
Presumably, that would relate to the sensor in the rubber pipe after the turbo. Try it disconnected, then replace? Don't honestly know. Never come across that. Good Luck!
why did you change it ?
What is the problem with turbo?
Too much oil was going into the engine from the turbo oil seals. So I thought anyway.
how can i understand that turbo is broken. and a lot of oil enters the engine

I think they are just oily anyway. Old Stinky passed his test so he can't be that bad!
