The Gateway Wizard is the real number one. Made in a million plastics that are almost all under $12 and it’s one of the most versatile putters out there.
the Pure from Lat64 flies like a charm! the harder plastics in this mold is perfect for throwing far, while the softer ones like zero soft is really good for putting with it's extreme grip.
I was a "casual" player for a while and now I'm starting to actually learn about the game and what I really like to putt with to hopefully reach that next level. For me the standout that is going in my bag is the EV-7 Penrose.
Thank you for giving the Judge some love. I am a bead guy (I know it's kind of weird to some) and the Judge's bead feels great to my index finger helping me spin it home.
Been playing for 4 months certainly still consider myself a beginner. Started with aviar quickly discovered I like the judge more. Tried a SSS wizard for the first time and was blown away. I am not sure if you guys have tried this disc but I can't imagine putting aviar or judges higher than wizards
Can't believe no one else has said it, but the putter that totally changed my putting game is the Kastaplast Berg. In standard K1 or Soft, or even just K3 it's an absolutely unbelievable putter. They aren't super hard to find if you aren't dead set on one of the more popular or special edition colors, or the glow version. The price isn't outrageous, with the K1's going for about $17-$18 and the K3's going for $12-$13. Sorry I just had to rep the putter that boosted my putt game by a solid 20%.
I like that you say all points on all discs so if someone doesn’t care about one category they can chose what’s best for them, (or if it’s available for the moment)
Yeah. I got one but you didn't get to choose color and they're all Pepto Bismal Pink. Which is perfect because I always buy pink if possible bc I HATE looking for discs.
gateway wizard availability 10/10 affordability 10/10 versatility 10/10 the best putter period by your criteria and that’s coming from a guy that has been putting with kastaplast reko for 3-4 years now
Good content. But At least compare them in the same weight and similar plastics. You can buy a 10 pack of 175g DX Aviar's for the price of a super-sized Starbucks coffee so you didn't need to throw a 146g beginners disc for comparison.
I like my k1 glow reko for a throwing putter but not sure how much I like the plastic for putting. It doesn't grab chains near as good as my classic blend warden. As well as it has FAR more glide and momentum than my warden, I feel like if I miss a soft toss short putt with my reko its 20 foot past the basket on a good day. lol you just set it gently on its flight path and it just GOES. haha
Beaten-in Aviars are a must for playing at high elevation (4000 ft+). Everything else is too stable for straight shots and turnovers. Heck, just listen to the recent practice round chatter in Utah.
The Pure changed my game BIG TIME. It was so good for putting and tgen I decides to try throwing it. Man. MAN. That was a game changer. I've had way more success after that, just blasting straight gaps with confidence. I've heard people with slightly less armspeed have had similar success with a Swan.
When it comes down to what you can afford and availability in Europe, the base line sensei takes the cake. It's by far the cheapest putter you could get here and some people in my opinion wrongly think that the plastic is bad cause it is cheap. For throwing it goes straight but has slight fade to it, so even on anhyzers it just sits nicely to the ground at the end of the flight. In Finland it has become one of the most popular putters in general.
personally prefer the Wardens over the Judge, but I think that's more personal preference as I don't like the bead. It's my go-to putter and throwing putter atm, love them!
Good list! Love my Luna, P2, and course the Envy you guys sent me! My P2 has gotten pretty beaten in, but I got a Challenger from Discraft to kind of supplement that since the flight numbers are the same
Honorable mention: Innova Colt. Great for beginners. Why? Small diameter, very shallow shoulder, which is great for young people, women and people with small hands. The main benefit of this mould imo is it's glide. It has TONS of glide. Meaning, it will go further with less effort. For throwing an XT colt is good, but imo the wizard is the best throwing putter ever made.
There's so many of them so I respect this list. I love putting with and throwing Banger GTs, but the groove isn't for everyone so it has a colt following.
No way p2s have the same availability as Lunas lol People have been begging for p2s to be produced for over a year now while Lunas have been restocked 5-6 times in the time span
@@matthughes2069 if you think they’ll be the exact same as innova’s your insane. And yeah they got them in a year later meanwhile almost every other company has had discs released every other month.
I rocked the aviar for a few years, it was my first and only putter for the longest time. but once I found a beat in restamped classic blend warden at a disc shop it felt so much better in hand I knew I needed it. It's been my go to putter ever since. I even bought a few more wardens in classic blend so I'd have more to practice with, and so I can carry a second. However I recently got a classic blend judge because I wanted an under stable counterpart to my warden, and love how the judge flies. I don't think it could replace my warden for putting, as it's just been the most natural feeling putter I've ever thrown still to this day. The original beat in one I have feels like it's literally molded to fit my hand, and if I don't think about form and just yeet it, I'm nailing the put from basically anywhere in the circle.
classic blend plastic is like glue to chains too. I've had it grip chains it had NO business grabbing, and I've had other plastics bounce out off of far more accurate ones. They just slip on the chains. Not classic blend. Especially beat in classic blend. That shits like gecko feet on the steel. LOL
For a beginner the aviar is probably one of the best. The only problem is you will outgrow it super fast (in base plastic). I use one in star plastic for short approaches and chippy shots because they have terrible glide. The only real benefit is how they fall out of the air so gently and nestle up under the basket. If you want a real good all rounder, the judge or Pa-3 should be your go to’s. If you don’t like a beaded putter, the eMac judge has a micro bead that is almost non existent. Personally, I use a Pa-5 and a pa-3 combo. The pa-5 is awesome for an understable putter. It’s best utilized for putting edge of circle and beyond because it is such a fast flying putter. It’s almost effortless to get long putts to reach the basket. If you struggle with those longer putts like I did, the Pa-5 is the answer.
Yep, I stopped bagging P2s and then Lunas because of general lack availability, even rarer premium plastic choices, and cost. A putter I can't get or afford to replace is worthless to me. I settled on Pilots as a stable putter that is just slightly shallower than a P2 and happens to be available in all kinds of plastics including a stiff baseline plastic that is my preferred for putting. I don't look back for a second on the days I putted or threw putters that you had to fight over just to get one or your month was ruined if you lost it.
I putt with xt aviar3 they are superior to avairs imo no bead and much flatter than regular aviars also for throwers I throw star aviar3 they have a nice slow drift and slight finish. Aviar3>aviar
The 3 most important things when picking a putter is: 1: comfort in hand( everyone’s hand size and shape is different) find something that feels comfortable and releases smooth 2. To Bead or not to Bead 3. Plastic it comes in( grippy and pretty firm is my personal favorite)
I've tried a lot of putters and I don't think I'll ever use anything but the Innova Nexus Firefly ever again. THE BEST. Although I still use the Judge/EMAC Judge for throwing
I wonder how the Luna gets on the on the list just because of the Paul hype. It’s a decent putter but not top 5 maybe 6th. Wizard should definitely be on the list.
Recently switched to Reko and I absolutely love this disc, K3 plastic and I love the micro-bead. It has really boosted my confidence from C1X. I'll agree on the Warden as well used those for about a year before I switched.
I've used some sort of avair for over 10 years whether it be a yeti or r-pro or jk or kc but after one round of playing with a classic soft judge and a emac judge all my avairs are now just sitting in my practice putter bin
With some of these discs you have to look at smaller online stores that aren’t the manufacturers website. Often times second hand sites have more availability than the manufacturers sites
I was gifted a KC PRO Avaiar, and, I think it might be a little bit magical. The thing just does what I want. More than it should. I have a Star Starfire that also falls into this category.

I guess I'm just different. I have a firm but grippy Swan, a soft Pure and a hard as rock "sockibomb" Aviar. Those 3 seem to always do the trick. If I'm inside C1, the swan never let's me down.
I’ve tried judge, deputy, warden, aviar, p2, and sensei. Out of these putters I like the Sensei the most with warden taking the 2nd place, but all are good putters IMO.
EV7 has the best grip, but currently over stable putter molds, Penrose, very over stable and Phi, average stable. I've never seen a plastic that stays in the chains better and not even fall down into the bucket like ev7 plastic, the base plastic is firm enough to support top plate and has crazy grip. This also means it doesn't slip out of your hands at all. Their firm still has great grip as well. I've putted with everything since 1989. DX Aviars have a great line, break in and go straighter with less time, but spit out of the chains considerably more than anything with even some grip. Gateway has offered the best grip even with some of their firmer plastics prior to ev7. Dynamic discs has some nice grip in softer plastics, but as they get firmer not as much. PA3 300 plastic is decent, but more over stable. Beginners or not, I'd recommend grip, straight as possible and some time to break in to go straighter, so a grippy Soft Dynamic discs Deputy, Gateway Magic and in 2022 look for EV7s next mold which should be straighter they claim. Hopefully with same great grip

There has to be a 5th putter that ranks better than the luna with how unavailable and unaffordable it is
I’ve thrown everything and the wizard is my go to. Usually under $12. Just bought 10 blank glow white wizards @ $13 a piece that I plan on printing on a uv flatbed printer. By the way the judge is a wizard clone.
Noobs
KC Pro aviars. Love them. Have several
Anyone looking for P2s should try the Infinite Discs Alpaca
Yep, same disc
Wizard all the way best putter
I have a Pierce Fierce, Jawbreaker Roach, War Pig, Zone, Judge.
I have a G star Aviar too and it's one of the worst putters I've ever throw. I hate it so much instead of writing my name and number on the bottom I just wrote F&@# YOU!!! Haha
Great bag there.
I have no interest in acquiring or even trying a P2 or anything like that. Gotta have a cool name or at least a sweet stamp on it. P2... borrrring
I have been using the Innova Dart lately, and I like it a lot.
That’s awesome, love the dart!
@@SwankyDiscGolf I used it on a couple of up shots last week, and it went as straight as, well, I was going to say arrow, but as straight as a dart, and dinged off the pole. I surprised myself from the position I was on both of those.
Gotta update the availability score of the P2 now 😂
damn no wizard
Love Guard,Maiden and Swan
are you kidding me putting a Luna on a beginner list with a fade of 3. What!!!
Gateway voodoo for the win
The only question I have is why do I hate the Judge? Could it be the massive bead? Most likely.
Dynamic Discs Warden (classic soft) and Westside Discs Maiden are two putters that deserve to be in every bag, especially beginners.
I have a super soft maiden and it's been my best putter so far
@@dannywashburn54 I once found one, disc had no name or number, so I just tossed it in my collection of disc. After 3-4 months of it just collecting dust, I decided to try it out. Holy crap, I felt stupid for ever playing a round without it when that disc was available to me. I know have three, two in storage as backups, because I just love it. Hyzer-flipping it off the teepad is my favorite drive lol
The best putter in the world for putting and throwing is:
Prodigy Pa3
Availability...right. and where are you getting P2s?
I can't believe that the Envy didn't make the list... and I don't putt with them.
Dam... I only used my P2 a couple of times before going back to my KC Pro Aviar's. Didn't know its worth 50 bucks!
How much for your red Evolution hat?
You can find discraft luna disc easily in Finland
No WIZARD! you must be a beginner!
MVP Envy
lol just over a week later P2 availability about to hit an all time low
This didn’t age well
You all are practically Discmania central, and you did not even list the Sensei? Maybe not the best throwing putter, but it is a great putting putter.
