I've bagged Simon's music city open Proxy since he won that tournament and I absolutely love it. It has a very true to the release angle flight for me when I throw it hard but if I put less power behind it, it has a consistent overstable finish. I used to throw Envy, but the Proxy took over that slot for me. Loved the putter comparisons and enjoy the new chill vibes of the channel so far!

How would you compare the two molds?

    • @Wooxzy
      @Wooxzy ปีที่แล้ว

The molds feel pretty similar in the hand. I used to throw the electron envys, but they beat in very quickly. Of course you can get higher quality plastics to prevent this from happening, but I presonally like the feel of the proxy in my hands more than envys. I'd say the envy feels slightly more deep in my hands than the proxy which is why I prefer the proxy myself. You really can't go wrong with either of them tbh, so I'd say give them both a feel test in the hand before buying one or the other because the feel is really what matters the most imo. @@sindrearnasjdahl9760

I really like the idea of a series of videos focused on a specific bag slot and breaking down 1) the shots they are used for 2) what types of discs can fit it and 3) how different discs can slightly change the way you use that slot. Some options are control driver, overstable mid range, max distance driver, tunnel shot / gap hitters, utility disc, forehand disc, turnover disc.

@@chrism4008 Great podcast, but not quite the same format - I think there is room for more of a field test focused on the slot and the shot. In the Bag generally focuses more on the actual discs themselves, helping people build bags, etc.

24:02 Trevor you should have used the watt instead of the envy cause it’s a neutral putter almost like a max weight glitch but definitely try the watt compared to the envy they are both in my bag but I putt with the envy and throw the watt when I need a disc that will just go on whatever line I need it to do forehand or backhand🤘🏻🤘🏻

  • @wesendreizehn6710
    @wesendreizehn6710 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Berg is also really good for forehand approaches, while other slower putters can be quite finicky. The bulky rim makes it quite torque-resistent and wont turn over unless you completely hammer it.
It does need some practice to get used to the grip though.

Awesome video. A lot of thought and work went into this. You didn't get lazy like most youtubers by only 2 or 3 discs then gloss over things. You gave every disc a fair shake, even going so far as to re-throw obvious shanks. Worth watching all 40 minutes!

I’m a little surprised the Luna didn’t get a look on this video, cuz I see a lot of people use the Luna for throwing putters like Anthony Barela and Paul McBeth (obviously) I have been using Lunas for throwing putters and they would fit nicely in that p2 spot. Glidy, stable disc that is actually very durable. Doesn’t lose its stability as quickly. I like the look of the Aviar though and will definitely give it a try! Thanks for the break down! 🙌🏼

I love Maidens too but tournament plastic just slips out of my hand too often. I tried an experiment over a summer of field work and rounds with Maidens in Origio, BT Medium, BT Hard, Tournament and VIP and found that I consistently got the best distance and accuracy with BT Medium. This was a surprise - I expected the VIP or Tournament to have better distance but the BT Medium and even BT Hard were nearly always farther. I think it comes down to my grip. That's my hypothesis anyway.

I have a K1 Soft berg that I absolutely love! But I do have some rules for it. 1. I never throw it off the tee. 2. I never throw it uphill unless I'm close and I know I can't make the putt. 3. I only throw it for like 100-150 fooupshots. I think in that slot specifically is where the berg can really shine, but it is definitely not the "Swiss army knife" you're looking for here

The Proxy and Pure are my favorite straight throwing putters. My max distance is 320 (woth control drivers) and the Pure and Proxy are the perfect amount of flip. They go straight for about 180-220 ft.

Great info...particularly the discussion of going left with under stable discs and right with avertable ones...a concept a lot of newer folks don't understand. I know you were setting a realistic limit on how many you could test, but two other common throwing putters worth mentioning: The Rhyno and the Pure. My personal favorite throwing putter right now is pretty new, and not well known yet, but I really like it: the MVP Watt. Since I use putters and midranges for 90% of my shots I have 4 throwing putters.
Mvp Spin great hyzerflip disc, flies sorta like a fuse with less glide and less speed.
    Envy as overstable putter.
Glitch holds any line for short throws with tons of glide and it's quite stable and I also use it for short straight shots with no fade with fan grip.
Berg shapes nicely too but with minimal glide which means less movement to the side at least on anhyzers. Amazing for forehands and short hyzers approaches and spike hyzers, it usually comes in slow and sticks the landing. (K1 soft)

Too bad about the Double G Aviar. I’m a Seminole, but it’s hard not to like GG.
I’ve collected a lot of discs, but with a max distance of 290’, putters don’t work for me off the tee. I do use them as approach discs from about 150’ in. I would say you do need a neutral flyer (I bag a Judge). It’s nice to have a point and shoot. I use an Envy, mostly for windy conditions. I use putters when I want it to land fairly late and not get a ton of ground play.

What I started doing is recording the distance of every disc I have at 70-85% arm power and then throwing those discs at holes with about the same distance that I recorded so I won’t fall short or go too long. My .02

Loved the video! Would've loved to have seen what you thought about a logic. Some say they are a great throwing putter and I'm really curious to see and honest video review of them before I try it

Great video! Lots of information, great and fair comparison. Really like this type of video! Maybe do something similar with mids etc.?

Kinda missed on the Envy lab debriefing. It is available in 3 Electron plastics that are very neutral flyers. So, you have quite the spread available with this mold.

    I use
For backhand: R-Pro Aviar, Halo Aviar
For forehand: SSSS Wizard, Halo Aviarx3.
Honorable mention to the DD Judge!
I throw my putters 250 feet comfortably and prefer putters to mids whenever possible.

I have an Electron Firm Envy and it’s dead straight. Also I recently started throwing a skygod 4, with big hands the deep rim feels amazing

Great vidja! Funny as I tagged Foundation, Hunter and you on Twitter asking what putters y'all used but for putting. I've been using the Judge as my go to putter. I think I want to try the atom and roach or luna before I settle on a putter for a season.

The Pure. Everyone should try it imho.
It does glide a LOT tho.

My most used disc by far.

I'm thinking about trying an Aviar. Haven't thrown one before. I have a swirly Roach and exactly like you were saying, it a little difficult to figure out.

I carry 3 Envys. A max weight fission one that is slightly overstable, an eclipse that is kinda stable I use off the tee more than the other two, and a proton soft one that even though it's basically brand new flies like a beat in base plastic. Those are my throwing putters (excluding my zone and toro approach discs).

I like THIS, move up to approach disc, then mids, short fairways, long fairways and so on. This is a good concept for someone who hasn’t had the chance to throw a lot of disc’s and isn’t too thrilled with the ones they have…. Like me😂

I love throwing them Zones for upshot’s it’s just so easy. I’m using Ace Line P-Model for throwing putters I don’t know how I feel about them though.

Should've got some Gateway stuff. Their core in the circle putters are more well known but the Shaman, Chief, Chief OS, and Devil Hawk are top notch, and they make discs for like 6 companies so you also have Serpent, Scale, Stego, Bao Bab, Manzanita, Madrone, Short Cut to choose from.

Fortunately just found your channel right as you are getting started. I am brand new to disc golf. Love the form you use to throw these putters. I have told myself that if I can't throw a putter the way I want to, why would I be able to throw a distance driver any better? I am working with an Aviar and soon an Invader. Other than midrange that is all I am going to use to try to get to the basket and work on my form and distance, hopefully manipulating the throw will come in between that. You were driving standing still though, which I don't do, but maybe I will try to make things more simple.
Would love to see this video done for other putters or even midrange and fairway drivers. I subbed to catch the next one

I have pa-5 for my hyzer flip or turnover throwing putter, and use a xt invader for most throwing putter shots, and then glow envy for the os thrower. And of course the glitch makes appearances here and there too

My throwing putters are the Pure, Envy, and a Mirage. Last one mostly for the name and because it's a nice get out of jail free card at times with some stupid shots I can do with it in scramble situations.

thing about the berg is that ts short but you are throwing arent throwing full power or even close(at least it looks that way). Its the closest to aneutral flight(even though its a tiny bit OS) and anyone can throw a forehand scramble roller with it. it is a 1 speed and lower glide compared to the others that arent. also most people are gonna carry a putting putter and throwing putter, the berg is like a support disc to those and a utility disc overall
nobody has got a berg review right yet
