  • 'Displaced: The untold stories of COVID pandemic' is a collection of stories of people whose lives were profoundly affected during the pandemic. Stories that got sidelined, mismanaged and gravely ignored.
This is the story of Saleema and Shahjahan who live in Kovalam, Chennai. During the first lockdown, a bike accident sends the family through an unfortunate spiral of events. Saleema is a single mom, Shahjahan, her son, went through acute distress when he couldn't find a way to treat his ailing mother.
The true extent to which marginalised communities get pushed around during a pandemic is unknown but a lot of working class families were affected during COVID pandemic. Of the 350 million people already below the poverty line, 70 million were estimated to have become “ultra-poor.”
When the State is busy combating the virus hyper focussing its energy on finding a way out of the quagmire, the lives of many citizens struggling with other afflictions had to be ignored.
