Behind The Looking Glass - FIRST EVER Documentary about the Wives & Children of Trans-Identified Men
Behind The Looking Glass - A film about the lives of women whose partners have or want to ‘transition’. Turn on subtitles using the settings button. Subtitles available in multiple languages.
Behind The Looking Glass is a film about the lives of women whose partners have or want to ‘transition’. While we hear a great deal of “stunning and brave” stories of men, there is a deadly silence when it comes to the stories of the wives or partners. This film will be the first of its kind in collecting such experiences of women from around the world.

    What an incredible film this is! Thank you for making it. Thank you to all the women who were willing to be open and honest about their experiences. I have some experience of this. I'm grateful that I had a strong sense of self before I met my first boyfriend. He told me he was a lesbian trapped in a man's body, I told him that wouldn't work for me because I am a heterosexual woman, not a lesbian. He told me, "All women are lesbians to some degree." I told him I wasn't and that our sexual relationship had to end. I'm grateful he was honest with me early on in our relationship (although, I wish he'd been honest before we were in a sexual relationship). We remained very close friends up to his death (not suicide, and he wasn't a victim of antitrans violence).

    1:02:39 Oh my god, that is so disturbing. Tranquilizers?! "Lots of women enjoy this"?! It goes to show the deep the gender cult goes. It's like you're in an episode of Twilight Zone. Also being told to "Get over it"...This is just misogyny in a new age with a new face. You had to get over a man dressed as a man abusing you. Now the only difference is that man dresses as a woman and has she/her pronouns.

    Thanks and respect to all those involved in this film and working to support and protect women and change the culture on this. The cartoon style with little bits of movement was great. One technical gripe: it's a pity the producers didn't take dialogue from the more remote respondents using a better sound recording app - there's one on almost any laptop, tablet or phone, so they could record it locally and send via email for editing - instead of relying on online video connections, as this would have vastly improved the sound quality of those parts.

    Thank you so much for making this important film. It brought it home to me how important it is that women are allowed to have female only spaces. A woman starting to deal with this doesn't need bozos interrupting online conversations calling her a "bigot". In Australia we had an app called "Giggle" that was biological female only and the Human Rights Commission helped a transitioned person, "Roxy Tickle" sue the app owner for discrimination. Tickle won because our discrimination law doesn't distinguish between biological sex and gender identity! If you're Australian, please help influence people to understand this problem, we need the law changed back.

      Yes! I so agree. I knew a self-admitted autogynephile 30 or 35 years ago and he claimed he told his girlfriend right up front he was trans (he had only been sexual with men prior), and according to him she said, "I don't care. I love you anyway. Let's have a life together." Apparently that was true because 40 years later they're still together. I bet there have been more downs in that relationship than ups. I don't think he ever changed his gender but he was taking female hormones. They have no children, fortunately.

    This was a satirical idea thirty years ago, men parading around pretending to be women. Now it's "reality". Of course, it's money--pots and pots of it--that is behind this catastrophic, sudden institutional embrace of what is obviously untrue. Jennifer Pritzker, Martine Rothblatt, what's-his-face Stryker: these are extremely narcissistic billionaire men with obvious autogynephilia (which can be understood as sexual narcissism) who have poured millions of dollars into charitable organizations to push this rhetoric. Money speaks louder than anything else, and it can induce otherwise clear-headed people to embrace insane ideas.

    I’m sorry for these trans widows. I’m sure they’ve been thru hell. However not all trans people are sexual fetishists and abusive assholes. To group all people of a distinct sex/sexuality in a negative way is wrong and very prejudicial. I have an ex who came out gay years ago. We remained friends for a while until he tried to rip me off. I don’t condemn all gay men for what he did. Assholes come in all sizes, genders and sexualities.

      It's only prejudicial if it was false, but it isn't. There are thousands of women forced to endure this hell with no help.

    • @Womenmatter2009
      @Womenmatter2009 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You're right but this film isn't prejudicial - it's talking about when a woman has an abusive transing husband, that she gets zero understanding or support. Even if he isn't actually abusive, society kind of abuses the woman in making her completely unimportant and ignored in the story. Also, gay is very different to trans. A man who leaves his family for another man can still be called "he" and "dad" by the children. He isn't trying to copy everything Mummy does. A lot of these husbands seem to want to take their wife's identity - it's bizarre to witness.

    Look into the ``Ambassadors of Kindness`` in Iran. The all woman police forced used to police, subjugate, interrogate, publicly beat, kidnap, torture and traffic women and girls who will not ``OBEY`` Sharia Law in Iran. They are known for kidnapping women and girls in broad daylight off the streets who violate ``morality laws``, and knowingly bringing them to groups of male police to gang rape as a form of ``corrective rape``. They are who the ``Aunts`` in ``The Handsmaid Tail`` are based on. The subjugation of women and girls RELIES on other women betraying them to the Patriarchy. This is the EXACT same thing with the exact same playbook but with different branding. The ``Ambassadors of Kindness`` FREQUENTLY engage in victim blaming, and state that what happened to the women and girls they victimized is because of moral failing, and ``unkindness`` from their victims eroding social order and ``endangering others``.

    • @Womenmatter2009
      @Womenmatter2009 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      In kids and young people the dysphoria should be explored and the wait and see approach taken rather than the patient being automatically affirmed as another gender. There are often a lot of things at play behind the dysphoria - mental health, past sexual abuse, fear of adolescence, autism, loneliness and not having social support, social contagion. Becoming trans gives someone immediate access to a "supportive" community and makes them immediately a cool kid. It really does seem to be the most vulnerable kids who go for the gender ideology and they absolutely encourage each other. A lot of trans people want as many others as possible to join the club. They coach each other about what to say to doctors to get the gender affirming care quicker.

    This is a good documentary. I have spent time around transgender people and in most cases they were not overbearing and domineering however that started to change and what is happening now is very different. The Queer gender thing seems very narcissistic. These gender people, mostly men are very domineering, controlling and aggressive. Basically you have men not really committed to changing genders so much as being more into the dressing up , role playing and gaslighting others. They still act and talk like men. And it is very fetish like. I feel for any woman in a relationship with one of these people. There seems a generation now that is so self absorbed there is no room for anyone else and yes they do groom others.

    they really just hate women, huh? if there was even a CHANCE that a man was in a female only space with me, i would panic. i have such extreme paranoia from my experiences with the opposite sex and i KNOW i'm not the only one who feels genuinely safer when i know there's not a single XY in sight. trying to make a RAPE SHELTER into a place that could welcome MALES is so incredibly offensive and belittling of womens' real trauma and lived experience. the fact we can't even talk about it without being called transphobic just goes to show how much we really need feminism right now. i hope i can add to this fight and make some good art about it. we need change.

    i will always fight against things like Lupron for kids. i've been on it as a 16 year old (for endometriosis). i'm 24 and still have side effects. it isn't exactly one of those things you can just undo. also it's all just so horrible for LGB people. i was bisexual as a kid, as a teen, and i'm still bisexual as an adult. it is as unmuteable as my sex or race. but these days the TAs try to tell us that sexuality isn't real. that i'm not attracted to men because they're men or women because they're women---but that i am in fact attracted to their gender presentation. how backwards is that? i like vaginas and penises, not dresses and pants. it honestly seems like a rebranding of conversion therapy. misogyny and homophobia seem to be the biggest factors in this whole messed up shitbag we have here today. hopefully kids of the future will have it better.

    the "losing caution" thing is really important i think because i for one am on like 3 different drugs right now, two of which are antidepressants. yes i've been diagnosed with depression, but i wasn't medicated until recently. wanna know what they claim they've prescribed them for? pain management. instead of actual pain management (for migraines and endometriosis), i'm given the happy pills and told to shut my mouth. and i'm not the only chronically ill person that has had this treatment. and guess who it mostly affects? women. because doctors actually listen to men and don't just try and "settle" them. also how insane is it that i am 24, been "sick" since i was 14, and i STILL am trying to find ways to manage it, trying to find the right providers and medicines. yet these kids can go in and after 1 session they get medicated???! make it make sense :(

    i grew up a tomboy, and i started puberty early. those first couple years of puberty make it so painfully obvious how separate women are from men. i remember a younger boy telling me "what great melons". i was 10, he was 9. then it was normal for me to cover my chest with my binder, to avoid groping and eyes. but it didn't stop. my "friend" in highschool said "why don't you take it as a compliment?"--i'm a multiple time SA survivor and the first thing my friends asked me was "why can't you remember it perfectly? you must be lying." the world is a cruel place for women from everyday things like the ways our families and friends treat us, to the more extreme side of things like SA and femicide. it takes root at such a young age. i hated being a female from the moment i noticed how i was treated differently from my male peers. for god's sake, i was even scared of my own brother and father because my mom told me "men only want one thing" and "you shouldn't wear that in front of your brother/father/uncle, it's too revealing." these are CHILDREN you are talking to. make the men change their behavior before making a girl have a lifetime of paranoia against the opposite sex (that only magnified when i went through those SAs--now i literally will not leave my house unless accompanied by someone...my sister wonders why i am so afraid... i hope she never has to find out). ALSO claiming those parents are being "abusive" for trying to help their kids is insane. there are real abusive parents out there. these are just parents trying to help. it's not the same. and it makes all of us who've been through abuse look like we're lying for attention.
