Ok good people let me lay it on the line for you...I'm 180 lbs 5'9 in height. I own a 2023 Vespa Sprint S 150cc. It's amazing. I teetered back and forth between the 300 and the 150 but settled for the 150 because it felt less bulky, and I felt a higher sense of confidence on it. I'm not sure where some of these comments come from, but... I've had mine up to 70-72 mph. However, the sweet spot is between 60 to 65 mph, no problem. I would never race it on the highway, but I do ride it with careful confidence. Confidence is priceless while on any the road. ( I live in St Louis, Mo.) Allow me to give you a little helpful guide if you're wondering what to get. Hands down go for 150 Sprint. It's an amazing bike with enough power even on highways. But if 50% or more of your commute is on highways, buy the 300 because you'll appreciate the extra weight during strong windy days and the extra power should you need it. Cheers!

I'm 175 lbs. Height won't be an issue. Both scooters are capable of taking me and a passenger, so they can handle your weight, but you may find that the larger scooter handles it better. Having said that, the smaller bodied scooter can handle you too.
Thank you for explanation. I have the 150 sprint. I wish they made the sprint in a 300. I love the sprint style but I'd like the 300 power. Oh well first world problem.
Haha! Yeah, I love style of the Primavera too. The issue is going to be that the powertrain and liquid cooling and everything involved with the 300cc is physically too large to fit into the Primavera. It would be cool to see more power added, but I just don't think there's a market for that. At some point, people want more power to do more things, and a little bit larger scooter also helps with that. Thanks for watching!!

A (tall) friend, who rides a Vespa in the U.S. says we definitely want a GTS 300 (283cc) and that it's easy even for us to handle. Another friend, who lives in the town in question, recently sold a 250cc scooter in favor of a 150cc scooter. He says 150cc is more than ample for the two of us together, and do the hills. Any further suggestions?
I owned a Vespa 200cc or maybe it was a 250cc not sure. A 2 stroke back in 1978 / 79. I somehow think the scooters are smaller now? The one I had came with a brake pedal on the floor. At least that is how I remember it. Are these vehicles smaller now. Less space between the seat and front? Not sure

Hi David, at 6'2 and 200lbs, you're going to struggle to reach 65 mph on a 150 cc Vespa or Piaggio. So I would step up from that to the Vespa GTS 300 or the Piaggio BV400. Those will reliably go highway speeds with you, and even with a passenger. I am 78 years old, am 6’ and weigh 224.0 lbs. I just bought a 2007 LX with about 3,230 miles. I drive it in town and the foothills surrounding Salt Lake City. And I’ve driven it on dirt roads near the Provo River. I had a new Vespa 300cc back in 1975 and drove it on the interstate and anywhere I would have driven a car. I drove then as I do now: only in dry weather conditions. I am glad I bought the 2007! The 150cc is perfect for in town driving. Test driving the 300cc scared the beejesses out of me‼️ The new fuel injection system gives you radical power from stop to 60 mph. But, once I I become Re accustomed to riding my 150cc, I may buy a new 300cc or 150cc when I’m 79 or 80 years old. Health matters and insurance costs may tell the final story. I think that being physically fit, active and in good health are also important factors when considering the purchase of and day to day riding of any Vespa! Good luck 🍀
I wouldn't say that it's too small. 50cc models are capable of taking two people, so two average sized people would outweigh you. Having said that, you'll probably prefer the performance of the 150. You'll probably want a bit more power than a 50cc
I think for me, it depends on the speed. On a 50cc I don't think I would get one. I like the open air. At speed, it would also depend on how far I plan to travel. Of course, my dream garage includes a specific Kawasaki motorcycle and a Vespa scooter as well! 🙂

So I haven't driven the GT200, the biggest benefit of the 300 is just that larger size... the 150 still has the compact size. In my mind a long trip would be more enjoyable on the larger frame, but I'd love the 150 for my garage!! It would have all the pep that I need for what I would want from a Vespa. I think if you are using your 200 for highway usage, you'd probably enjoy the 300 better. Moving to the 150 is still a big jump down when you think of it in percentages.
Hi Peter, thanks for your explanation, greetings from Jakarta. In Indonesia both Primavera and Sprint models have 150cc. While GTS is offered with 150 and 300 cc. Btw, here we also have the smallest body frame models, namely Vespa LX and S. Both LX and S have 125 cc, being the smallest engine (we dont hv the 50cc).
I would look at where you are going and the road rules in some places they will book you (police) if you’re on the highway doing 20 km under the speed limit so 110 km. I would suggest go an do a scooter ride course like the motorcycle ride course but for scooters this will give you the ability to ride 300-550cc scooters Then try as many scooters as you can and choose.
I live in Albania, south europe. I am big Vespa fun and I need a vespa to use for both city and highway. To travel 300km once in two months. Will the 150cc be good for me or i need 300cc?
In 50cc you can have both Primavera and Sprint models , the Primavera is the round headlight and the Sprint the rectangular headlight , I believe it is also the case with the 150cc
A nice tuned exhaust and lighter rollers make most 4 stroke scoots like a jack rabbit up hills. Mine beat cars at the light, and there still road legal.
Hey, nice video. Very informative. On the Sprint 50S; it looks like it also has a helmet hook under the seat (at the 10:19 mark), is that true? I could see inside when you removed the trunk area; it is easy to remove the battery?
The only 50cc Piaggio or Vespa scooter that I've seen without those helmet clips under the seat is the Typhoon. The Primavera, Sprint, and Liberty all have them. As far as the battery being removable. I haven't done it, but it doesn't seem complicated in any of them to me.
Hi thanks for the video. I would like to know what is the difference in between the Vespa 300 gts classic, super sport, hpe 2, and the tech version? I like the Vespa scooters but all of the different options are confusing? I am wondering if it’s worth the extra cost?
Hello Peter: Your Vespa comparison video contains much of the information I am sourcing … per choosing a suitable VESPA model. I am seeking any information specifically pertaining to the Limited Edition 2023 VESPA PRIMAVERA 150 DISNEY MICKEY MOUSE EDITION BY VESPA … … Thank you … d y …
They can carry two people, so I don't see it being an issue with one larger person. Power to weight ratio is a significant factor on the 50cc models though. If I were you, I'd consider the 150 and about.
@@PeterLoweOne Hi, thanks I hopeded so! Speed is no problem, I have no license for over 50cc for a tour in Vietnamand so +-20mph is no problem. Have a good day!
I'd go with the 300. You could get a 150, but the suspension won't have as much travel with your weight, and I'd stay away from the 50cc as it will not be very quick. I'm about 175 and thats probably the max weight I'd recommend for a 50cc and even then, you need to be realistic about the performance at my weight.
thank you for a very in depth look which was very informative and interesting. I have one simple question are they to stroke or four stroke. Kind regards and thank you Mike Western from Suffolk in England
Get the GTS 300 if you want convenient , fun, alternate transportation, the ability and performance to merge and keep up with the fastest city traffic in any city, also freeway capable for short trips or longer ones in a pinch. Electric scooters and motorcycles are even worse than electric cars for those that value time and money or work for a living
I would like to ask what is the top speed of the 50 cc asa standard scooter ,also can you tell me how much extra speed can you reliably get after the first service and the new speed restrictor fitted that i have heard you can get to make it just a bit faster,I am75 years old and wanted to eb able to take fun rides and shopping trips at something a bit faster than 28 mph ,which does seem rather slow, thanks for video,
I'm not the best source of information on modifying things to get more speed. For me, I'd rather buy the 150cc to get more speed than modify the 50cc and risk reliability issues. There are probably better sources for what can be done with modifications than me. Sorry about that.
I think you would be wasting time and money trying to modify a 50cc. Spend the extra $800 a 150cc. You'll pend way more than that moding a 50cc and never get as much power as 150.
@@nathantherealtorsonoma Yeah, a lot of people like to modify the 50cc class just to see what they can get out of them, but if you just want speed, and not the work and expense of getting that speed, the 150 is the right answer.
To modify your 50 c.c. Vespa for faster speed, you need to change to lighter beads on variator, also cut the "funnel" off inside your tailpipe to allow better airflow. Look for TH-camr "Robot" of "Motorsport Vespa" on TH-cam for "To mod Vespa 50" for details. Vespa 50 can go nearly 50 mph after mod.
I've had the Primavera 50 Touring for about 10 months. I'm 60, about 6'1" 240lbs. My top speed on flat surface is around 35mph, slight downhill 40, 45mph around 12° downhill. Uphill 12° only gets to 30mph.
Anyone that can help me chose between Vespa Sprint 50 with some mods for a stronger ignition, or a standard Peugeot Django 50 cc with no modifications ? I might add a new cylinder over time if easy to do on these, but some people warn me that new modern-day scooters need computer software to tune them... I am not sure that is true.. ... but how to choose between these models really? quality, functions, strength uphill, comfort etc? what to consider between them? thanks!
It depends on where you live. Here in New Brunswick, you can drive it with a regular car license if you're over 16 and if you're 14, you can do a test and get licensed for it.
It would be worth trying. Even though the seat height may be high for you, you can always step forward of the seat to reach the ground. It's hard for me to say if you'll be comfortable with it, but plenty of people of all different heights have ridden Vespa's for generations.

MSRP can change sometimes. These videos stay online forever. I used to run another MUCH bigger channel, and I've found it's easier to not mention it than to face the comments section if there was a change. Up to date pricing can always be found using the link in the description of this video, which will take you to Jim Gilbert's PowerSports website.
Lots of reasons, but the most popular reason here is because of licensing requirements. Adults can drive the 50cc with just a car license, and kids as young as 14 can drive them instead of waiting until they turn 16.
my wife 72 in june this year . the 50 is nice and light and with a POLINI ecu will do a nice amount of speed as standard in the u k are a danger at 30 m p h .
The prices can always be found in the link in the description. I never quote prices in my videos because they can change over time, but up to date pricing can be found using that link. As far as fuel mileage, Piaggio doesn't list fuel mileage for these scooters, it can really vary based on the size of the rider and the type of riding that you do. The best place to get real world information on fuel mileage is to check with owners forums and see what various people are getting in their environments.

I think if you are using your 200 for highway usage, you'd probably enjoy the 300 better. Moving to the 150 is still a big jump down when you think of it in percentages.
I have a Classic VXL 150 (a model superior to Primavera). High recommended for urban purposes! Easy ride, fast enough in traffic and beautiful!
Thanks for sharing your experiences! I hope to make some fun riding videos in the next year. Feel free to subscribe!
It’s not a question for the video but do you know what the top speed of the Piaggio zip 50 is?Also,is the primavera 125 good?
Do any of them have a seat height (and width) that would allow someone who is 5'2" to flat foot the bike at a stop light without coming off the seat?
I would consider a rebel 1100 dct with more power and very low seat height if i don't feel like working the clutch.
I have the same question
NO mention of USB sockets fitted as standard. A socket was clearly visible, in shot, in the GTS 300 'glove box' compartment.
You're not going to believe this, but that's not the only thing that I didn't mention! 🤣
Nice. Thanks for sharing!
@@PeterLoweOne You're welcome.
How much is the GTS 150 in Indonesia
GTS Classic is around USD 5200 and GTS Super Sports is around USD 5600 in Jakarta, in some other cities the price is little bit more expensive
Same with the Philippines,
Planning to get the s125 but most of the advice should go with at least 150cc.
this is super helpful!
I would look at where you are going and the road rules in some places they will book you (police) if you’re on the highway doing 20 km under the speed limit so 110 km. I would suggest go an do a scooter ride course like the motorcycle ride course but for scooters this will give you the ability to ride 300-550cc scooters
Then try as many scooters as you can and choose.
I live in Albania, south europe. I am big Vespa fun and I need a vespa to use for both city and highway. To travel 300km once in two months. Will the 150cc be good for me or i need 300cc?
the only thing i hate about the gts 300 is the exhaust gasket wear & tear is too fast.
In 50cc you can have both Primavera and Sprint models , the Primavera is the round headlight and the Sprint the rectangular headlight , I believe it is also the case with the 150cc
But it’s a good video. This guy knows his stuff
A nice tuned exhaust and lighter rollers make most 4 stroke scoots like a jack rabbit up hills. Mine beat cars at the light, and there still road legal.
I seem to have a problem finding out which ones are large frame and which ones are small frame? Thanks for the video.
Vespa sprint and primavera are small frame and gts is large frame
@@180fxr thanks
the width of the legshield makes it obvious when you see you will know .
Super helpful, thank you!
Great video. Thank you for the comprehensive comparison.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
Hi thanks for the video. I would like to know what is the difference in between the Vespa 300 gts classic, super sport, hpe 2, and the tech version? I like the Vespa scooters but all of the different options are confusing? I am wondering if it’s worth the extra cost?
This video may get you started in finding what you're looking for. th-cam.com/video/QCrV4Wm9880/w-d-xo.html
Excellent thorough video
Great video. I guess answering the phone might be difficult for shorter people though.
Answering the phone? A bluetooth adapter in the helmet should solve any phone answering issues that most people would have.
Is there any difference in riding characteristics between sprint and primavera (150cc version)?
Not to me. They really are just trim differences.
The front tire on the sprint is spinning the wrong way around
How much for the orange scooter?
How.much.does one cost a 50 cc model?? Where can I buy it
The Sprint has an hexagonal headlight and the red lighting in the dash. The Primavera has blue lighting.
Hexagonal is exactly the word that I was trying to come up with! Haha! Thanks for bailing me out and saving me from re-shooting that shot!
Hi Peter. Do you know if it's possible to put a sidecar on a vespa and if so how many CC would it need?
I mean... Anything is possible... Not everything that can be done should be done though.
I suppose. I saw them all over Rome but I have no idea why nobody is importing them to USA/Canada. @@PeterLoweOne
@@PHOTOCONVENTION My guess is there just isn't the business case for them here.
Do u guys how much for 50cc, 150cc, 300cc ? Thank you
Can you please have look at gts 125cc
Rust issues underneath those recent models. Be careful. Make un extra layers of painting underneath
Are these meant for 250 lbs people? Or
Would it be a struggle on the engine.
They can carry two people, so I don't see it being an issue with one larger person. Power to weight ratio is a significant factor on the 50cc models though. If I were you, I'd consider the 150 and about.
Is it possible to ride a 50c scooter for up to 60kms a day for a week? Can you give me some advice on this?
Yup! Totally possible, but the top speed isn't going to make it a fast commute. That's why some people consider moving up in engine size.
@@PeterLoweOne Hi, thanks I hopeded so! Speed is no problem, I have no license for over 50cc for a tour in Vietnamand so +-20mph is no problem. Have a good day!
What is the best Vespa model for a 250 lb person
I'd go with the 300. You could get a 150, but the suspension won't have as much travel with your weight, and I'd stay away from the 50cc as it will not be very quick. I'm about 175 and thats probably the max weight I'd recommend for a 50cc and even then, you need to be realistic about the performance at my weight.
What are the prices
thank you for a very in depth look which was very informative and interesting. I have one simple question are they to stroke or four stroke. Kind regards and thank you Mike Western from Suffolk in England
Great question! They're all 4 stroke now. (at least here in Canada)
Fantastic now I know what Vespa I’m getting 👍
Thanks for watching!
Hi, what's the most reliable Vespa I can buy? Thanks.
A Honda.
Get the GTS 300 if you want convenient , fun, alternate transportation, the ability and performance to merge and keep up with the fastest city traffic in any city, also freeway capable for short trips or longer ones in a pinch.
Electric scooters and motorcycles are even worse than electric cars for those that value time and money or work for a living
hello brother i found something called bmx cub can you help us to know how real good they are 🙏🙏
I would like to ask what is the top speed of the 50 cc asa standard scooter ,also can you tell me how much extra speed can you reliably get after the first service and the new speed restrictor fitted that i have heard you can get to make it just a bit faster,I am75 years old and wanted to eb able to take fun rides and shopping trips at something a bit faster than 28 mph ,which does seem rather slow, thanks for video,
I'm not the best source of information on modifying things to get more speed.
Wish to drive one of those🫵🏾🥺
Anyone that can help me chose between Vespa Sprint 50 with some mods for a stronger ignition, or a standard Peugeot Django 50 cc with no modifications ?
I might add a new cylinder over time if easy to do on these, but some people warn me that new modern-day scooters need computer software to tune them...
I am not sure that is true..
... but how to choose between these models really? quality, functions, strength uphill, comfort etc? what to consider between them?
thanks!
Why not just get the 150? If you need to take the class and get your m licenses
@@e-guy8259 only because the MC card here in Sweden with the ice risk training and all is 3300 euro now
Great video thanks ❤
5:12 I think the front tire of Sprint has wrong direction of rotation.
Nope. Check out pictures of other motorcycles online. You'll see that it's almost counter intuitive.
Good explanation.
Keep going
Thanks for watching!
is there a dealer to buy them in the USA?
Depends on where you live, but your best bet is to go to the vespa site and search for your zip
Can you tell me where i can buy this ?
These are for sale in Fredericton New Brunswick. You could try Google searching for a Vespa dealer near you.
Do I need a license for the 50 cc?
It depends on where you live. Here in New Brunswick, you can drive it with a regular car license if you're over 16 and if you're 14, you can do a test and get licensed for it.
I never knew there were vespa sellers next to me. I.E New Brunswick
Let's see the hill climbing abilities
Actually, that's where these are strong. Overall top speed and horsepower? Not the strong point of these, but torque is a key piece to these engines.
Im 4'11 girl... Am im just afraid i wont reach the ground at the light
It would be worth trying. Even though the seat height may be high for you, you can always step forward of the seat to reach the ground. It's hard for me to say if you'll be comfortable with it, but plenty of people of all different heights have ridden Vespa's for generations.
@@PeterLoweOne u mean to say I wont be the only one in human history rocking side to side at the light 😂 im definetly looking into it. Wouldn't hurt to test it first
Why are you stating KPH, we're in the USA?
Are we though? Think about why I might be talking about km/h. Think about why the dash shows km/h. Are you absolutely sure that "we" are in the USA? 😉
the sprint is 50cc? i thought its a 125cc😮
you are really doing a great job.. triple clap!

Sprint = primaveta. The seat is hard and uncomfortable for a long ride.all about style and not about ergonomy and confort
Why Not mention the MSRP?
MSRP can change sometimes. These videos stay online forever. I used to run another MUCH bigger channel, and I've found it's easier to not mention it than to face the comments section if there was a change. Up to date pricing can always be found using the link in the description of this video, which will take you to Jim Gilbert's PowerSports website.

octagon is 8 sides :-)
Yeah. My grade 1 math was a long time ago... It took my brain a long time to search back that far!
trickle charging
Enligten me please. Why would one want a 50cc?
Lots of reasons, but the most popular reason here is because of licensing requirements. Adults can drive the 50cc with just a car license, and kids as young as 14 can drive them instead of waiting until they turn 16.
Lighter weight, need only for very short rides on busy streets cost effectiveness small frame cuteness
I’m some states don’t even need insurance, registration, or license
Very popular with those that have say…multiple DUIs
my wife 72 in june this year . the 50 is nice and light and with a POLINI ecu will do a nice amount of speed as standard in the u k are a danger at 30 m p h .
I will take the red one please 😀🛵🛵
The headlight shape on the 150cc is an OBLOID
Haha! I think the word I was trying to come up with was Trapezoidal!
They are not Vespa's. The last vespa's were P ranges. These are some modern crap.
Vespa patrimonio dell’unesco
He said nothing of cost or gas mileage.
