    The Primavera is the right choice for those who really need the Vespa brand name. Just about everyone else will be happier with the Liberty. The larger wheels make for a better ride and the seating position (and the seat) is much more comfortable. Riding the Vespa, you can feel a little "perched". With the Liberty you feel more like you're sitting down in it.

      I like the style and the seating position of the Vespa, but you can't deny the value of the Liberty.

      Wheels…..honda sh300 or sh125 wheels which are way bigger than the Vespa makes the scooter not as nimble or fun as the Vespa (it surprised me) seriously im not biased towards one or the other, but ridden both back to back.
      For example, the sh300 is hard and fast, the Vespa a bit slower, but feels like floating on a cloud in comparison and it’s the best scooter I’ve ever ridden around bends on….that’s the Vespa 2008 300 gts compared to 2009 to the latest Honda sh300.

      I disagree. The Vespa is more refined.

    I'm a newbie to motor cycling (scooters) and am looking at purchasing my first scooter. I have narrowed it down to Primavera, Liberty and Kymco 8x150. I have watched a few of your reviews and just wanted to compliment you on your presentations ( clear and cogent) , you do a fantastic job. Keep it up.

      I got the piaggio 150. Honestly, I wish I would have bought a Beverly instead. The piaggio is a bit slow for me. Even though I use it on the streets it is hard to keep up with traffic in large boulevards without a full throttle. Will not recommend using it in highways.

      @@delm1202 Yeah, the 150 is still going to be limited for certain types of roads. But it does open up a whole new world to the 50cc rider.

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It would depend on where you live. Check your provincial or state requirements. Sometimes all you need is a car license, sometimes a full motorcycle license, sometimes there are licenses for scooters or lower powered motorcycles. Lots of differences depending on where you are in the world.

    Love my liberty 150. For basically half the price, with bigger tires and far more functional, flat floor, there is no comparison for me.
    Take the couple extra grand you're saving and upgrade the headlight and get a top box and you're still ahead like 2 grand.
    I added a top box, windshield, side kickstand, and sportier mirrors and a quad lock, and still spent way less than a stock Vespa.

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I still love the look of Vespa's, but you're right, this one has some features that the Vespa design doesn't allow. It's fun working with Jim Gilbert's PowerSports because you can see them side by side and really see which one you prefer.

      Piaggio Liberty 150 with plastic body panels will cost much less to repair after accident than a Vespa with metal body dents and dings.

      Yeah, the type of helmet will make a difference when you're trying to fit it in to that storage area. Not every helmet is going to work perfectly. If you love the helmet, a rear box may be a good solution.

    People making comments about the larger wheels but neglect to consider that those larger wheels aren’t wide and that matters a lot. The Vespa is a better made scooter.

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  ปีที่แล้ว

      I really like them both, I think people overplay issues with the smaller wheels on the Vespa, and overplay the advantages of the larger wheels of the Piaggio.

    @jf9870 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is the seat height the same on both?

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is likely a difference in the specs, but if you can ride one, you can ride the other. Seat height matters less on a scooter than a motorcycle, because if the seat was too tall to place both feet firmly on the ground at a stop, you could step in front of the seat and straddle the bike that way.

    Larger wheels are usually more comfy on rough roads

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not sure that I would say more comfy, but the larger diameter can allow them to be less affected by the bumps. I think it's most accurate to say that they do handle rough roads differently, and the larger wheels would likely offer some advantages with that.

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They each have a slightly different seating position. Both will fit taller people, so it isn't a matter of more legroom or less legroom, it's a matter of which seating position you prefer. I like both, but I'd choose the Vespa for style. It's my personal favourite.

      Yeah, with size 14 shoes, you'll want to try it out. You could always angle your toes a little out, but you would have to decide if it worked for you or not. I don't know if you can clearly see my feet up close in the video, but I'm wearing size 11 shoes for reference.

    My instinct is to the Piaggio with the bigger wheel, and more motorcycle style - guess the ride could be better on rougher roads. Also, as a 'larger' person, I'd take the higher power motor option

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, the 50cc version is great for certain areas with different licensing restrictions on larger engined scooters or motorcycles, but the 150 is the one that I'd go for with all other things being equal. I just think you'll use it more if you can go a little faster with ease.

    The gas tank is down low on the Vespa and higher up pn the Piaggio-does that make a ton of difference in handling-I know you want the weight down low-nothing worse than a high speed wobble.

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      These are both pretty stable for the speeds that they're going. The wheel size difference is probably more notable than the overall centre of gravity.

      Well, so I compared both of the scooters side by side and Vespa IS much better built scooter (full metal body instead of cheap looking plastic).
      But it also about two times more expensive. So, finally she picked her Vespa Primavera.
