So if you’re watching this as a tutorial, note the following: - never spray paint the alloy block. Just sandblast it. It gives a way better finish. - never reuse old bearings. It’s cheap to replace and easy to do. Also they tend to break down - never reuse seals
Right . nice paint and long time spend with old bike , engine assembly is not correct for me , and painting rusty wheel ring . gearbox very hard working in the end of film but this is very specific mechanism on vespa scooters
Also it would have been a great opportunity to do some rust protection before painting especially since he left some rust spots here and there. The rust will penetrate the paint eventually from those spots.
Amazing work and unforgettable memories…. I proud to say that I was owning bajaj 150 model 1973 and using it until 2013 - Plate No MED 643. All my compliments to the restorer. With that Vespa I went from Bologna, Italy, to Agadir, Morocco, in the Seventies. Thirty-three hundred kilometres at 80km per hour. I had a jerrycan just between my legs because the main tank was ridicously small (3 litres or so). One of my best trips. I then did it again after a couple of years ad I reached Algeria through Morocco, where I sold the Vespa to get a boat to reach Naples.
great job, I had the same kind - Vespa 150 - way back in 1967, they were very popular then, we can still find this Vespa of old on streets of Malaysia, albeit a couple of them here and there. thank you for taking me back in time.

I had a vintage Vespa 150 that was a little earlier than yours. It was a lovely little scooter to ride around New Orleans. I gave it to my younger brother 37 years ago when his Harley Davidson Electra Glide was down. I was surprised when he rode it in front of his Harley circle of friends. My brother-in-law owned a Vespa P200 that I got to ride. That 200 had a lot of pep and was a fantastic Scooter! You did a very nice job restoring this Vespa. I would be proud to own it. Had 2 vespa's when I was a teenager an early 125cc and a later 150 cc plus a Lambretta LI 150cc and an NSU Prima scooter (German with electric start etc.) Always loved the vespa's, simple and reliable, the original ones are a real cult machine today. Well done a credit to you!
I rebuilt a '53 in 1963. Bought it for 15 bucks. It was in 3 boxes. I convinced my parents that I'd get a job to pay for it, which I did. Every Saturday morning my dad would drive me to sears in Highland Park, near Detroit, and I'd buy the parts that I needed for the week out of my paper route. Great experience. I used it and my brother used it after me.
Great job both restoring and filming. My first ride on a motorcycle was on my Fathers' same year Vespa and same color. It was 1962 and I was 4 . I have been riding for 50 years. Current bike is a 2021 RE Meteor Fireball.
A truly brilliant job, I bet it didn't look that impressive when wheeled out of the showroom in 1962. The colour is also a great choice, I love the attention to detail throughout the restoration. 10/10 Gordon, Halifax UK
Bought a neglected Vespa 125 in 1969 for £5 as it didn't work. Dismantled it, painted it and mended it. I was 17 years old at the time. Rode it for 6 months before deciding it was lethal in the rain. Learned about engineering though and how things worked and my career as an engineer began.

That brought back so many memories! I had a '63 Vespa the same color. I bet I threw 10,000+ newspapers off of that scooter when I had a paper route in high school. The only thing about those small tires is they were prone to flats. I could put the spare on in 5 minutes.

Amazing job. I am planning a bit of the same on mine (which is not that old though). However I am worried about all those small rust spots you left unchecked and topped with filler. Aren't you worried they will start to grow in time and rust from the inside out? I would have gone with a full sandblasting of the body, that's what I plan to do with mine actually, to be 100% sure it will be clean to the bone before painting over.

Great job... loved to watch the eye to eye details on even minute part.. Nicely restored.. keep up the good work
