Reverse the connectors on one of the wire connections so there is never a question of polarity when reconnecting the wires in the future. Also, use self leveling lap sealant on the top surface of the roof flange so your finished work doesn't look like such a hack job!
dogpatch75 You said it well...”hack job” was the one word that came to mind while watching this. Why is it that in North America this is supposed to be a professional instal? On the roof there is goop schmeered everywhere and on the inside gaps and wires visible. I definitely wouldn’t be happy with it if I’d done it myself, much less if I hired someone to do it.
Is there a difference in the maximum fan speed on the 4-speed vs. 10-speed model MaxxFan or is it just a matter of having 4 vs. 10 interval settings with the same maximum speed?
The "smoke" colored cover is translucent but not see through. It's a darker tint. When the vent is closed it extends 5" above the roof. When open it extends 9-5/16" above the roof. Technically you can add a rocker switch to the vent but since it is designed for 12v Maxxair does not recommend wiring the vent to a seperate switch. The fan is designed for a constant 12v feed and flipping a switch on will create short high spike in voltage. Overtime those short spikes in voltage will run the fan down causing failure.
would the maxxfan deluxe be overkill for a camper shell on a pickup truck? trying to figure out the best way to keep the temperature down back there with my dogs loaded. thanks
That's all up to you (I think it would look pretty cool). You do what you got to do to take care of those pups. Linked below are some other options to check out if interested. www.etrailer.com/s.aspx?qry=trailer+vent+and+fan&furl=-pg-Enclosed_Trailer_Parts-pc-With_12V_Fan

I see from another Question, that Smoke is “translucent but not transparent”. ?!? So, I gather that means Extremely diffused (Light) ? Then how about White, is that “translucent”, as well ? I LIKE the fan A Lot, but I want as much Light to come through as possible ......
If you are wanting as much light as you can get, you are going to want to go with the white. The white lid will provide much more light than the smoked lid. The smoked lid will act as a tint limiting the amount of light that comes in but not all of it. www.etrailer.com/RV-Vents-and-Fans/MaxxAir/MA00-07000K.html
Hello. You did a TH-cam video of the maxxfan install on a 2018 nv2500. Very detailed and I'm ready to install mine. I can't find the video. Can you send me link?
You can watch the install of the Maxxair fan on a 2018 Nissan NV2500 here www.etrailer.com/tv-install-maxxfan-deluxe-roof-vent-with-fan-2018-nissan-nv-2500-ma00-06200k.aspx
You do not need an additional vent cover. The cover is the lid that comes installed on this vent. www.etrailer.com/RV-Vents-and-Fans/MaxxAir/MA00-07000K.html
The holes are already pre-drilled on the vent ring that seats to the roof. We did not pre-drill into the roof. www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-RV_Vents_and_Fans.aspx?Comment&TH-cam%20Comments
It depends on the amount of curve but if it's quite a bit then standard vent sizes normally don't work well. You may be able to use a smaller round vent with fan www.etrailer.com/p-VP-543SP.html
As long as you use a good sealant (see links below) you shouldn't experience any kind of links. Really the only way that rain could get in is if you are parked and the winds are high enough that they are sweeping the rain in below the rain cover with the vent opened (which would be the same case with any kind of rain cover). If you close the vent during storms like that though you'll be just fine. www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-Accessories_and_Parts-pc-Vent_Install_Kit.aspx www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-RV_Exterior-pt-Sealant.aspx

It has the same maximum speed as the base model
Just more variable in speed
you can't see through them? can i add rocker switch to use base model as fan or extractor ? what's the clearance when its closed?

why put so much sealing so it looks that messy, dont need that amount
You don't want the screw holes or where the fan meets the roof to leak.
www.etrailer.com/RV-Vents-and-Fans/MaxxAir/MA00-07000K.html
Can it be put on a sloping roof, where the slope is down to the front of the caravan
You just want to make sure that you have a good seal on the roof if it is sloped.

Hand or foot made
A black wire for the positive+ ? Now that's a first.
It is a little different than what everyone is used to, but that is just the way Maxxair designs their wiring.

Has anybody ever tried to run 18v through this fan?
I contacted maxxair and anything over 12 volts will cause the fan to wear down and eventually fail.
