The roof sealant tape that you put under the flange of the fan is designed to be used on top of the flange over the dicor, you should use butyl tape under the flange for sealing to the roof opening
Exactly what I came here to say. You have problems guys it’s going to leak.. you need to use butyl tape under that piece and then dicor over it and THEN you COULD use that tape you had over the dicor… which I wouldn’t even recommend nor do the professionals. The butyl tape is what seals it and stops the leaks and the dicor is the secondary protection or water flashing… you have no seal except for the secondary so it may seem fine now but the problem is if you don’t get that other tape off soon (which is going to be a major problem being on the edge most likely) it’s going to get even harder to remove…
Great install you two. Be cognizant of the fan exhaust function in the bathroom. Don't have it on high when flushing the toilet...it will draw the sewer gasses into the bathroom. Also, if y'all want another fan in the bedroom you can pull another wire thru the ceiling from the living room and have 12v power. We have an '18 2600RB and that's how I got power to the bedroom ceiling vent.
Definitely a good upgrade. I recently installed one that is similar to max air fan but is only the fan itself, not the top vent. Which means to install, you don't have to do all the stuff on the roof, just switch out the fan. However, the MaxxAir fan definitely is the best and has the most options. Especially for full-timers like you, worth the time/cost for this upgrade.
When I installed these fans in my Transcend 221RB, the flange did need to be cut down. But then I checked and the old flange from the stock fans actually fit! Problem solved with no cutting. And I agree. Peeling back Dicor is the worst job ever.
Good morning. Great video, very informative. If you have not watched him, RV with Tito DIY is a great channel. He has some good tips on removing Dicor and cleaning the roof without damaging. He also does a lot of other projects on their RV’s and it’s just fun to watch. He keeps showing off these Wago connectors for wiring and seems to really like them. They seem almost too easy to use, ;). Safe travels and we look forward to the next video.
Howdy you two ... When we ordered our 2022 Rockwood mini lite 2109s it came standard with a maxxair fan ... One of the options was to add another maxxair fan over the bed which we did so our little 20-foot trailer has two Maxair fans and we love them ... Good job you guys ... I do believe we still need the name that goat
Hey Mike one of your other upgrades I'm interested in was the snappads is that something that eliminates any other type of leveling blocks or do you still on occasion need to use plastic leveling blocks under them .. I mentioned before that Alton Brown also has a screaming goat so maybe in honor of him and his Q kitchen you could name the goat Alton
@larrybrackley3249 @larrybrackley3249 good question! I have all but gotten rid of my leveling blocks. I did keep a few for certain spots and using them on the tires to level, but I got rid of almost all of them
I have one in my travel trailer. It moves a lot of air but for it to work most efferently a window needs to be opened to let air in. I also use it when traveling on dusty roads. I set it to suck air air in and pressurize the trailer to reduce the amount of dust that comes into the trailer. I am still looking for an automotive filter to put in the fan to even reduce dust even more.
we have the one way air out Maxx fan. works great but would really like to have air flow in and out.. your install made me feel that that is possible. Thank you!
Dicor Tips : 1) hair drier makes it softer/easier to remove. 2) put down two parallel lines, 2 inches apart, with your seam in the middle, then fill in using a circular pattern (looks like a "pro" did it)
Great video, a future upgrade. I just received my tow slip on mirrors from etrailer for our "21" GMC they're perfect. Took your advice just ordered Dicor and tape. Thanks guys.
Great vid! I have been redoing all my Dicor on our 5th wheel and one tip I can give you for the future is Dicor comes off easy when it’s hot out. Like you can pull it off with your fingers nearly. At least on my rig that’s what I noticed. Also did you all get a new mic? Audio sounds so clear.
Thanks for the tip! We noticed that on the second fan. We were afraid it was going to be too gummy if it was warm! No new mic, I guess it was just a beautiful morning 😍
Big advantage of the MaxxAir fans is their flange design. You can swap out with another MaxxAir fan without having to remove the flange once converted over.
don’t know if you looked in the ceiling of the one you don’t think has wiring but ours had wires for 2nd ac and a fan in there just have to use fan with remote just a thought
Pull the flange down on your third vent. There is a good possibility that Grand Design already has wiring in place to convert from a vent to a fan. At least that is what I’ve heard anyway.
Pro tip....next time you need to seal, scrap the dicor and go with longer lasting commercial contractor grade Sika-Flex sealant. The rv industry uses dicor because it doesn't last and they want you to keep buying it over and over.

What do you guys think of the new fans?! Let us know! Love ya'll ❤
You both work well as a team. I would love to see the outtakes of all the curse words and stuff that didn’t work. Safe travels
🤣🤣 there were some words spoken! We really are a good team ❤️ thanks so much for joining on our adventures

I just saw a video on the insert a couple of days ago. Interesting!

We got lucky, I was worried that we were going to have to cut ours!! 😆

Awesome thank you! I'll have to check him out!

Hey, Larry! The goat does still need a name! 😆

Great upgrade. We did our bathroom and bunkhouse with these. Huge difference! But getting that sealant up is a challenge
It really is!
Had one in our 25 ft mallard .Really moved the air . Now that we have the fifth wheel I can only put it in the bathroom
we have the one way air out Maxx fan. works great but would really like to have air flow in and out.. your install made me feel that that is possible. Thank you!

Two parallel lines of what? Some kind of tape?
@@oldbiker57 dicor self-leveling lap sealant
Coincidentally I just installed a Maxxair Deluxe in our rig this weekend. Love it !
Good choice!
Great video, a future upgrade. I just received my tow slip on mirrors from etrailer for our "21" GMC they're perfect. Took your advice just ordered Dicor and tape. Thanks guys.
Great to hear! So glad we could help! ❤️
We installed a new fan, but noticed it sucks odors out of the toilet. We rarely run it in the "out" direction.
oooooooooo Fancy!!!! Ya, you can't be all sweaty and yucky and sleep properly LOL Yay for upgrades!
🤣 we're excited!! Happy to hear from you! ❤️
Any issues with voltage on the fan I’ve heard you need a 12v regulator
No issues so far! Love them

Great job on the install and e Trailer is a great site for camping gear.
Thank you! I was surprised how much stuff they had on there. I'm gonna have to buy some stuff for the truck! 😆
Good job! Great video and a great couple.
Thank you so much! 🥰
I like the Maxxair fans. I’ve needed to replace the controller board once in four years but it was simple.
Good to know, thanks!
Did you compare the max air fan vs the fantastic fan? I’d be interested in the differences between these fans. Thank you!😊
We don't have the Fantastic Fans, but I hear they're great too!
Big advantage of the MaxxAir fans is their flange design. You can swap out with another MaxxAir fan without having to remove the flange once converted over.
I've bought from etrailer for many years. They have excellent customer service and reviews/ HowTO videos for most if their items.
Good to hear!
don’t know if you looked in the ceiling of the one you don’t think has wiring but ours had wires for 2nd ac and a fan in there just have to use fan with remote just a thought
We didn't attempt the third one! I read several posts that said said our model didn't have any wiring. What model do you have?
we have an Adrenaline 29ss bumper pull toy hauler never hurts to look from bottom and see
For a second A/C, it would have to be a 50amp wired camper.-John
They make 12 v ac for solar
Great information. Thank you.
Our pleasure!
Tried to count how many times she knocked Mike. Lost count.
God bless you Mike
No chill on that screw gun trigger 😅
Great video
Pull the flange down on your third vent. There is a good possibility that Grand Design already has wiring in place to convert from a vent to a fan. At least that is what I’ve heard anyway.
I'm gonna have to look! I've had a couple of people mention that
Pro tip....next time you need to seal, scrap the dicor and go with longer lasting commercial contractor grade Sika-Flex sealant. The rv industry uses dicor because it doesn't last and they want you to keep buying it over and over.
We love your videos but we wish they were longer.
That's the best compliment!! It's difficult with a full-time job time, but we love making the videos for you!
Plastic scrapers can help you avoid tearing your "ruff". 😂
Good point! 👍
how tall is it ?
From the site:
Opening size: 14" wide x 14" long
Overall dimensions: 23" long x 16-7/16" wide x 5" tall
Mounting flange dimensions: 16-1/2" long x 16-1/2" wide
Garnish dimensions: 16-3/8" long x 16-3/8" wide
Vent extends above roof:
When closed: 5"
When open: 9-5/16"
I think you should used butyl insted on tape...Sorry.
Definitely not a 'how to install a Maxx Air fan' video...
Good investment.
I think so too!
We love your videos but we wish they were longer.
