Jared, I should do a counter video called - How To Install A RV Fan Vent The Wrong Way - According to my mother in law I'm always doing everything wrong.

I appreciate the install video!! I am uncomfortable with repairs/upgrades on the roof for fear of damaging the roof membrane. Your tips for peeling the sealant off is very helpful to me for gaining confidence on replacing the shower sunlight that has discolored and crazed. Maybe I can do it myself and save some money. I thought of putting a fan in our master but it’s not wired. There is a light nearby that I could probably tap into but coupled with my reservations about roof work, it just seemed to much for me to handle. Now, I’m a little closer to considering it again, thanks!

Thanks Jared - I installed the Maxfan Deluxe 7500 in the location that had a vent that had a (UV related) disengrating cover.
Totally love it - it blows in or out with 10 speeds and temp control. - Expensive, but cheaper than a 2nd A/C unit. - Cheers!

I got blisters just watching you roll that sealant off the roof! I've had another brand of fan waiting to be installed for almost a year. The old (OEM) fan's base cracked and allowed water in. I sealed it up with Eternabond, which worked, but I still need to put the new one in. Good tip about rolling the old sealant off in the heat. I was thinking cold would work better, but apparently not.

Thanks for posting this - I'm in the market to replace the Fantastic fans in my trailer and this is a great tutorial. And bonus points to you for using your bare hands to remove all of the sealant! Scraping around with tools or putty knives - as I've seen in other videos - strikes me as a terrible idea; your method was MUCH safer. I'm an RV (travel trailer) newbie and I really appreciate your videos!

Definitely getting this model. Ya sold me with the base so you don't have to keep tearing the roof up when it dies.

I replaced my fan using this video has a guide. Two huge blisters on my thumbs from peeling back the adhesive lol but ultimately job done and super pleased with results. I did go with the Maxx air fan deluxe and have zero concerns about leaks due the the amount of preparation I did (no adhesive to be found) again thaanks to your video stating how important prep work was for this.

Having changed our the older Maxair fans with the new Maxair'10 speed remote with the built in hood, I've been able to use the older trim from Maxair without having to go through the trim to fit. Of the 3 I've installed, I only had to trim one about 1/8 inch in a corner for a nice snug fit. And it you align it correctly, you can even use the existing holes in the ceiling from the previous fan.

I just replaced a vent on my Class A. A couple of points: First I wish I would have removed the inside trim, that exposed wires to upgrade to a powered vent. Next is that my 10 year old sealant was not just rolling off. A Multi tool turned a 5 hour job into 30 minutes.

  • @safety_dave

I also installed a voltage regulator since my LiFePo4 converter runs at a higher voltage. There have been issues with circuit boards failing at elevated voltage levels, so this should eliminate that failure mode.

We have a Grand Design 3100RD and much to my disappointment it came with 3 cheap fans and one vent only no fan. There was no option to upgrade from the factory so the very 1st trip out I upgraded all 4 to the Max Air 10 speed with remote and auto open close feature. We LOVE them, they make a huge difference in moving air and when the trailer is parked in storage the auto mode helps regulate the temperature and humidity inside. They also have the ability to pull air in too or run as ceiling fans in that mode with the lid closed which is great in the spring and fall for moving warm air inside. I added solar and lithium so power use is minimal and the benefits are absolutely outstanding. I don't understand why you are not able to upgrade the fans with factory orders?

My tip with this fan is to make sure you separate the four screws for attaching the base to the fan from the other screws. If I remember correctly, they are shorter and undoing the screws to find them after you caulked is not a fun time. Marshmallow fluff scares me now.

Jared we want to add that type of fan into our bathroom. How do you know which Maxx Fan will fit properly? We have a GD Reflection 303RLS so I’m betting it’s same bathroom fan you had? Great video and I definitely think I can tackle this project myself thanks to videos like yours.

Love the videos, Jared! Thanks for all the great information you provide! We just purchased a 2018 28bh and I'm looking to do this install in the kids bunkhouse as well. Can I assume there will be dedicated power right there or will i be tapping into a light fixture? I know the front bedroom is already prepped, but I i can't find anything about the bunkhouse. Thanks!

I always like watching your videos. I just watched the ammo can one and looking forward to installing that and getting rid of my fancy plastic bag.😂 my question to you is i have a 2022 jayco 264bh. The fan in restroom has a lever to open the door instead of the knob that ive seen in all the videos. Would the install be the same if i get the fan that you install from the inside if the trailer has a lever instead of the knob. Or would i have to do something different?

I have the same camper, Grand Design Reflection 28BH 2022.
I've got the fan installed, but I am having difficulty getting it wired. I took off the wall panel where the light switch and the TV Backer is. I see some 12v wires that I could splice in. However, before I splice the wire I’ve been trying to fish the wires up through the ceiling. I can’t get it to go through.
    Any tips?
Did you have to take off the ceiling panels too?

Hopefully someone can help
