    Much the same way I did mine, but I used a 2x2 wooden frame underneath the fan to give the roof more stability.

    I followed your instructions, used the recommended sealant as indicated in instructions and I actually had a fiberglass roof with just barely a curve to it but didnt have to make any modifications. 👍

    Hi there. I have just had my max air deluxe delivered. Just wanted to check it is usual that the external flange is not predrilled through the plastic and I have to do this myself. Couldn’t see in the video if you were drilling through the plastic of flange or just the metal roof. Thanks a million

    Nice vid. When screwing off (17.18), my holes don't line up even with a fair bit of down pressure. Maybe the rubber has lost it's flexibility. Any ideas?

    • @ALana-wy5ql
      @ALana-wy5ql 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They used Soudal Fix All High Tack. There are better sealants out there with better UV resistance (e.g. Fixtech Fix15 and Sika 295 UV)

    The swarf from the jigsaw will melt through the clear-coat / paint... then 6 months later all of the little melted spots will have rusted dots everywhere. You must protect the paintwork before doing any cutting.

    • @naturemama9175
      @naturemama9175 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What would you recommend using to protect the paint?

    • @aus140
      @aus140 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @naturemama9175 old newspapers, a bed sheet, some plastic from the hardware store - it will need to the cover the whole roof and down the sides by about 5cm Then painters tape to hold it all down; using lots of tape at the cut-line, then cut-through-it to ensure no swarf touches the roof.

    Thanks for the install video - very helpful. However you installed on a flat roof and I wish mine was flat but ... Do you have suggestions / a video for a roof with ridges? Is it just a matter of more silicone to seal up the "lower" bits of the roof? Ah just read the comment below about using butyl tape to "pack" the lower portions to make the gap waterproof - yes?

    • @OutbackEquipment
      @OutbackEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Julie, yes that is correct, we've done this before on our own van builds and it worked very well, it will give you a harder surface the whole way round the edge to put pressure on when fitting, makes it much easier to clean up the silicone too!

    Great video guys good to see an Aussie channel I’ve in Sydney my whole life, but I just brought this fan from eBay wait for it to arrive, I wanted to know how do you know if it should go the front or back as I have a Toyota high ace bus 14 seater high roof, also what’s the going or I’ve rate to get it installed please, cheers

    • @OutbackEquipment
      @OutbackEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Pearcey, it's recommended to be placed at the front of your unit to maximise airflow, however you can place it in the rear, just keep in mind due to the exhaust / intake louvers that face the rear of the vehicle, the Maxxfan requires a roof area clear of obstructions such as air conditioners, storage boxes, etc. for at least 203 mm to the rear of the existing standard roof vent flange outer rear edge. Send us an email at service@outbackequipment.com.au, and we can supply an installation instruction manual for your review. Hope this helped

    Hi team, great video. I want to put one in my brand new VW Crafter. The ribs on the roof have 200 in between. What do you do when it’s like this?
    Thanks

    • @OutbackEquipment
      @OutbackEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Karl, if you read some of the comments below we've outlined how to overcome this issue using butyl tape in the ribbed section :)

    Hey fellas, every other install video I’ve seen use butyl tape and a timber brace. Why not you guys?

    • @OutbackEquipment
      @OutbackEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Ciccorilla, we've asked the guys at Southcoast Van and they said that you can do this way, but this is just works for them, we also believe that butyl tape is for vans with ribbed roofs so it really depends on the model of van, hope that helps!

    All good if your roof is flat, what about a roof with ribs or bumps like a lot of bus roofs ?

    • @OutbackEquipment
      @OutbackEquipment  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ivan, Usually with curved roofs you would need to create a boxed flat area for the fan to sit on. When it's ribbed it's suggested to use a foam seal & silicone to create a water-tight seal. Hope this helps.

    Hi what glue do you guys use?

    • @OutbackEquipment
      @OutbackEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John, there is no glue used in this process, depending on your vehicle you may need to use butyl tape to pad out the lower point of the rib where the fan is installed.
