I am happy Benicio didn't change his name he stayed true to who he is. He is an inspiration to many Hispanics who want to be actors.
He's gotten even better looking with age.
What a sweet moment between Benicio and Mark, I love this guys!! Wonderful interview, I really enjoy it!!
But did you see Michael Cain's face while those two (some of my faves I might add) were exchanging pleasantries ?:) he's like ... Wtf... Is going on :)
+OriginalGangster841 LOL! Especially at 5:23.
+Juliana Millan yeah, when the music started I realized I had such a BIG smile on my face for them
Very very proud that Benicio did not changed his name for Hollywood. It makes him strong, brave and true to himself. Love Love Benicio.
God, this man has some really great genes
@Lucas Cruz do you have any photo i wonder
real
The Collector, Nick Fury, Bruce Banner, Alfred Pennyworth, Deadshot, and Joel Edergton all at one table.
lmao Joel edgerton is the odd one out
Thank you for whoever brought these talented actors together! Benecio del Toro is charismatic in Sicario, now I just want to watch all his movies 😍😍😍 Best interview ever!
I just adore when I see that camaraderie between actors. How endearing is to see Ruffalo and Del Toro showing admiration for each other. Lovely.
Very true from Benicio, a lot of black actors and white actors are actually hispanic but they have changed their names so they dont get marginalized. Perfect examples are Charlie Sheen and Tyson Beckford who by he way is Panamanian
+roger8654 as a Panamanian, I agree lol
+roger8654 Panamanian? I thought he was black Chinese? One of his grandparents are Chinese.
SICARIO!
BEAST of a movie.
Wow, Michael Caine is so ignorant. "Speak like a Mexican or Spanish" and Del Toro brushes it off with the logical response, "Which I do!"
+latinonoir He speaks Spanish but he doesn't speak like a Mexican.
royalparadigm That's my point. I'm from El Salvador and I get annoyed by ignorant people assuming all Spanish speakers are Mexican. I was pointing out how Del Toro was pointing out the irony in Caine's stupid remark.
I know, that was so ignorant coming from him (Caine).
@anachocolate1262 Give Michael a break. He lives in the UK not in the US where we are more familiar with the Spanish language and its varied pronunciations depending on national origin of speakers. I was impressed by how Benecio responded to the issue of discrimination. He said he experienced it but acknowledged that times were changing. No poor me mentality with Benecio. A class act.
@@anachocolate1262I think he didn’t actually said it in a bad way, more like “They assume you speak like a Mexican or Spanish” as in reference that everyone thinks Benicio del Toro is Mexican just because he speaks Spanish, and Benicio said “Which I do!” Because he has interpreted Mexican people and spoken Spanish in many roles .-.
I have to say, Hollywood reporters does the best interviews, they make it about the actors not the work they done
you should check out the Nerdist podcast. Over an hour long interview with actors. Brian Cranston really gets into how he approaches life. "you need to open yourself up to new experiences. At an older age, that gets really scary."
I cringe every time Michael Caine opens his mouth.
Caine just seems like an arrogant old droopy eyelidded dog in every film he's in. Arrogant and yet also stale.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@unapprovedtruth7116 old dog hasn't learned new tricks; apparently.
I was totally shocked to see this representation
Have said it before and will say it again: Benicio is an acting genius.
"Speak Mexican or something... painting or painting walls." WOW the legendary Sir Michael Caine.
I like how Michael Caine torpedos every topic with a generic old fart comment. Reminds me of Community.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
From what I know.... HE. Is indeed à stiff upperlip Farth 😁
Michael Caine had to change his name to find success in acting- and back in the day as being with the Cockney accent he was put down in London acting circles.
@@sahej6939Agree. The class discrimination in England in Caines youth was pervasive. He had to drop the Cockney accent otherwise forget getting into acting period. BTW Cary Grant also changed his name and accent to be accepted.
I love this man, such a perfect actor.
SIR Michael Caine referring to Mexican as a language... shaking my fucking head...
Benicio Del Toro is a badass name. I'm glad he didn't cave and change it just because some white people can't pronounce it.
I wish I were sitting at a bar and a chick would come up and ask my name and I could reply " Benicio del torro"
Su nombre es HERMOSO, gracias a Dios no lo cambió, "Benicio del Toro" fonéticamente suena perfecto! ;)
Benicio del toro nuestro orgullo borincano; se destaca siempre. Gracias ❤
Benicio is WINE 🍷🍷🍷
Michael Caine- "Speak mexican" lol
speak mexican?? wow Michael u old fart..... love u benicio & mark:))
My first name is BeniciA and my parents named me after the city- Benicia, California. They lived there in their early marriage and loved the city and its history,. The city was named after the Spanish general’s wife ... Dona Francisca Benicia Vallejo. Despite its Spanish origin, I have been told the first name isn’t known in Spain but there are some South American countries where it has been heard. Mr. Del Torro is from Puerto Rico so I am curious about the origins of his first name. I am happy he didn’t change it as well.
I remember him explaining in an interview that "Benicio" comes from the Italian side of his family (a grandparent, I think). In Italy, it may be spelled "Beniccio" and pronounced "Ben ee' chio" rather than "Ben ee' sio". The name means "Blessed" and there are different variations in its spelling. At any rate, he is a beautiful man with a great name!
❤
buenicio del toro😍👌
Are you going to post the full episode, or just the sections for each actor?
What happened with the full videos? I want to see the full 40-50min video of these roundtables. Even on the hollywoodreporter website there are no full videos.

Fuck he's amazing. Him and mark both just wow
He better be nominated for an oscar after the Globes fucked up.
He is the most beautifu man among thoses hansome guys
Michael did change his name, his real name was Maurice Micklewhite
Yes and also experienced prejudice in London from having a Cockney accent…
Ill never be less then your boss. I'm all of the boss that your ads here has hot
I respect Michael Cain as an actor but his interruptions made me cringe. Let the guy tell his story. Being told you can't play shakespeare cuz of your accent is very different than what a POC actor deals with.
In London it is similar, actually. It is a prejudice and the cockney accent was seen as the criminal element only, or the low class worker. So it is similar for that society.
See Oscar Isaac for the change your name move. Fascinated by him/his amazing trajectory/figuring out if he sold out or did the smart thing since in the end he's gotten solid roles that would have gone to white guys, while acknowledging he's latino--but if he could, would he pretend otherwise? Also interesting element is that he passes as white vs. someone who is also latino who's darker and wouldn't have the same options for strong roles not based on stereotype and played usually by the same recycled white men. Really interesting.
Benicio passes as white Anglo (he is already a white person but white Hispanic) as well but he decided to stick with his Spanish name. He still made it in Hollywood. I wonder If his success would have arrived even faster should he had changed his name.
Yeah...Benicio is latino...brown. He looks fuckin brown to you?
only a person envious of the name would ask him to change it From Benicio Del Toro...to what ??...Ben Michaels?
His name was almost changed to Marvin Lipshitz.
True story except for the name.
I would love for Benicio to paint my body!!!!!
Benicio is white Terrence Howard (mannerisms)
+BoneCrusher Most Puerto Ricans have taino blood. Check out the Genes video of Puerto Ricans.
***** True as well. One does not rule out the other one. That is the beauty of the mix. Most of Puerto Ricans have the three races but different percentage of each. That is why some look white, some black and some brown. I think is perfection. Brazilians have the same thing going on.
MOGUL I see Antonio Banderas, Hugh Grant, Justin Bieber and Elvis Presley
@@yetmel5834 not really though. check out his story on the PBS show
Benicio is the Punisher
The assumptions about America of an extremely successful actor are the worst. Yea, America is such a horrible place where you have made millions being an actor and not having to actually work and create a life. This is the kind of nonsense that pisses people off.
I thought Sicario/Alejandro was Colombian... since they called him "Medellin".
benicio del toro is my great uncle
Polarheart45 this is like the third time dude
why does Michael Caine looks so annoyed the whole time Benicio speaking? and those unnecessary coments about accents and painting walls. i mean what's wrong with you grandpa did you eat shit for your breakfast? let the man speak! jesus crist that was so rude.
Benny 🔥
rob pattinson is born to play edward cullen
