He's a hypocrite given the violent movies he stars in. Arrogance at its finest when he doesn't do a Tarantino movie because Quentin refused to change the entire storyline for Will. Ego headed dick.
I love seeing the difference between Will Smith and Samuel Jackson. Will - I was rewriting Django... Jackson - It is a movie, I want to see bodies hit the floor... Samuel is such a refreshing voice in the world of pomposity.
I get both. Hiding behind "it's just..." is either ignorant or cowardly for educated people. Images matter. At the same time, there comes a point when everybody just wants to be human for a minute and not try to carry the weight of the world. There is room for both.
I love how all of them lowkey mocked Smith's moralizing monologue. When he simply just turned down a great role for carrier/PR reasons and because Tarantino refused to make it one-dimensional for Smith's pr taste - while Jackson played a real monster (a much riskier character) and had no problem with it. And killed it.

True. I just saw a roundtable with Jim Carrey and other comedy actors and the host didn't have to interfere to much, the conversation was just going and it became more interesting that way.
@tinwoods Will is engraved in everyones mind mostly as a comedy actor, while he is very versatile in my opinion he is not fit for a western movie..ignoring the WW West which was still mostly comedy.. can you imagine him becoming cold hearted killer, because eventualy thats what he MUST do to survive and find his wife ? hardly.. thats why HE insisted that he wants Django to be a love story.. not vengeance.. Jamie played it flawlessly. Ofcourse he is mostly comedian, just like Will a very versatile actior, but his appearance and voice was more fit for this role. Django evolved from a "slave scared for his & his wifes life" into "nothing will stop him until he finds and rescues his wife" which you can perfectly see in his expression and body language..
I think the roundtable-concept is great, but would be more authentic without hosts. If there were a deck of cards with questions on the table to start the conversation, I think the people around the table could handle that masterfully in a way more natural manner.
@Martin Latour Beat me to it. He seems like a decent guy but he's one of these people who has convinced themselves that their opinions are the only "correct" way to think and the fact that he's an actor means that his views somehow carry more weight.
@Martin Latour Awww, he doesn't support your demented demagogue? What kind of a moron wouldn't support putting kids in concentration camps anyway? Kids definitely need to concentrate more!
@Martin Latour America has obviously never been great, whether is was under Obama, Bush or under Trump, but have you read up on the differences between these centers during these eras? Trump has made a point of trying to undo everything that was under Obama, so perhaps he should chose to undo the things that were actually bad, such as these centers, rather than doubling down on the cruelty and family separation? I don't treat politics like a fucking football match, where I root for a single team no matter what they do. Perhaps if you spent less time idolizing a fucking narcissistic wannabe-dictator, and spent more time using that head of yours (which, though in pretty shoddy condition, should have some light reasoning power), you might realize that it doesn't matter if your pick for president wins or not, as long as the people are losing. And perhaps if you spend less time relying on three letter acronyms (TDS, SJW...) to describe your "opponents", and more time thinking about the what is actually happening, people like you wouldn't have to waste humanity's time and resources picking leaders who are so far removed from reality that they might as well live in fucking Narnia. I love how it's somehow the people who oppose that amoeba you're trying to label as deranged. That's some solid propagandist shit right there. Grow the fuck up, and try looking at the consequences of electing your spoiled (in all meanings of that word), cowardly megalomaniac as president. +Shayn Walker I can't forgive Smith for Django, the fact he's never acted in theatre, and the fact he had a 2 year self pity period of not acting.... poor Will blah
He's the executive producer so without him there is no show. He also has to cut people off otherwise they would go on forever. Most actors are not used to sharing the spotlight with 7 other people who are as big or bigger than them.
What we need is Graham Norton holding James Lipton's cards of questions. If I were interviewing a group like this (and I hope to do it someday), I would go into it knowing: a) Will Smith will try to hog the conversation b) the most wry comments will come from Mark Ruffalo c) Samuel is the linchpin - he has seen every film the others have made so he can speak to them d) Plus I would attempt to steer the conversations between actors we don't hear from as much (Joe, Michael and Benicio). But primarily it would be research, research, research with clear questions at the appropriate times, Brian Linehan style (Canadian interviewer back in the day). There is no need for butting in with silly questions - that's what editing is for.
I swear this interviewer is the worst. How rude of him to cut Michael off in the middle of his story and reask the question. This interviewer is the same in every interview I've seen him do. Why do they keep letting him do this?
but it's not. Michael wasn't answering the question by throwing in a "my family's been selling fish for 300 years" at the beginning then went off on a tangent. it was the interjection that got him back on track and properly answering with the architect's errand boy answer which was great. so many people here have such a reaction to this but yet aren't truly picking up the cues of how well the conversation is actually flowing because of the hosts. good hosts know when to reign their guests in and control how the conversation is flowing. a truly bad host or an inexperienced host would just let Michael ramble on and ignore that there are other people at the table, like the Democrat debate where there was an obvious agenda to keep the focus on just the big players like Kamala Harris, Kamala Harris, and Kamala Harris, and occasionally let the old guys add a quip or two. that was a travesty of a debate. this is a good interview.
@@BenjiSun It's a round-table, the whole format is designed to let the actors talk with each other and tell stories. The criticism of the host is that he treats it as an interview, which is a different format.

And killed it.

@tinwoods you clownin

The Del Toro & Mark Ruffalo moment was sso sweet and sincere.
Mark Ruffalo is probably one of the nicest men in Hollywood. He's so decent and down to earth.
@Martin Latour Beat me to it. He seems like a decent guy but he's one of these people who has convinced themselves that their opinions are the only "correct" way to think and the fact that he's an actor means that his views somehow carry more weight.
Nah Keanu Reeves and terry crews are 2 of the nicest.
Your country is going down the shitter, yet you somehow confuse the smell of shit for the smell of roses.

They should get Graham Norton to host these, he actually knows how to juggle multiple guests and let them talk.
Noooo
It’s the editing that makes it seem like the host is cutting them off, I don’t believe he’s actually cutting them off
No just no. He knows nothing about cinema compared to this guy who knows every movie ever made. Norton only asks superficial questions to get a laugh.
Can they please remove Stephen Galloway, he is really not fit for the roundtables, he does not let the guests express them enough.
I said the same thing on another round table. It's a British/Australian thing when it comes to time/schedule for a program
There is no need for butting in with silly questions - that's what editing is for.
he is an editing tool for the producers ....
Galloway is professional and great. He is a MODERATOR. Google the meaning of it.
@@ddandymann sure, it's a round-table, but does that mean it's not an interview? and that it doesn't have a host, a time limit, and a number of questions to get through? does that one word round-table, supersede everything else? if that's the case then there's no host and with seniority gets priority, Caine would be on his tangents non-stop with the occasional interjection from Jackson, and everyone else can just shut up and f off. which of them at the table would stop themselves and say, oh wait, we haven't let Ruffalo or Edgerton speak yet, i sincerely care what they have to say. no, Caine stops, it'll be Jackson or Smith getting their righteous minute in. even in a self-contained roundtable discussion, it'll just be a seniority dominant dialogue. you might be ok with that. i'm not. i'd rather hear a variety of opinions and stories than just Michael Caine reminiscing about nonsense. it's as if a lot of the commenters here don't think Graham Norton's show has a more rigid structure than they presume and actors are capable of being that concise and able to stop without being reeled in, or Letterman or Kimmel suddenly switches to full on sarcasm mode when actors go off script. this host is just more robotic in his handling of the structure. he's not being rude to try and guide the interview (and it is an interview) on course. it's ultimately their format, not your vision of their format.
@@BenjiSun EXACTLY, so many people don't realise that the guy in charge is the interviewer not the interviewee in this case interviewees. He wasnt being rude, he was just keeping everything on track and keeping a good flow of answering their questions and having the actors talk to each other.

I love Will Smiths movies, I do... but I am so damn glad he didn't play in Django. Thank you Jamie for making a badass western flick lol.
I can't take Will serious ever I mean he does what he does but every part he plays he does ''Will'' and there's a time and place for that...A badass action movie about revenge isn't it.
@@davevd9944 i have the same feeling, he tries hard though. What do you think about his role in I Am Legend?
@@pixxienix Personally that was a breath of fresh air for me. I could feel him being lost thinking he's the only survivor. His pain of loosing his wife and daugther and not to mention that dog scene.... And his realisation at the end that he's been killing dozens if not hundreds of real living humans and he's the real monster in New York.
It had 2 endings are both are fine I like him surviving and making peace with the Alpha more.
What about you ?
@@davevd9944 I didn't know IAL had 2 endings wow
He passed on playing Neo in The Matrix too.
Samuel L. Jackson is the coolest person on earth. Period.

And to all of us who are quick to cast the first stone, let's rather remember how many times we made someone suffer because we feared?
Benicio and Joel seem like some pretty chill people to hang out and have a few beers with
I love Benicio, and I would love to see him in a Tarantino movie.
Jenny S he was! check out Sin City if you haven’t seen it!
From Dusk til Dawn?
@@rileyjohnston3462
Not really Tarantino. More Frank Miller/Robert Rodriguez. Moreover just not a very good film.
@@LivingChampion
Benicio wasn't in From Dusk till Dawn. Maybe you're somehow getting him confused with Danny Trejo?
@@HelloSadness101 How the hell is he going to confuse Benicio who is 6,4 with Danny who is 5 and the look nothing alike.
Benicio Del Toro's my favorite of the bunch!
Will is so desperately trying to be a deepthinker on this roundtable xD
He just have a very big ego
His wife order him
@@callasky and a "stable genius" with a big brain.
Thank god he wasnt in Django. Jamie nailed it!!
+George Tarantino Just imagine him saying "Wow". When he first talks to Stephen.
He would've done great too. And Quentin obviously thought he would too. Jamie didn't do anything that Will couldn't do. Django always had an angry face and talked with a low voice. Not hard for any actor to do. Which is why he was the least impressive role, but Jamie was good though.
+D. Foxx I don't think Jamie gets enough credit. He didnt have an over the top role like Leo or Christoph so it was hard for him to really show off. There was, however, a lot of subtleness to his performance. just compare the Django at the beginning of the movie to Django by the end
Marty Funkhouser yeah, like Will said, the character arc was fine, but just performance wise, it wasn't anything that Will couldn't handle.
+George Tarantino Django was, to me, by far the weakest character and the easiest to act. Samuel's, Waltz's and Leo's characters had more to them. Will is also actually a good actor, better than Jamie. So Will could have brought more in Django but who know? I love that movie anyway.
Sometimes it feels like Will Smith is the guy who always wants people to think he's a deep thinker or really smart.
Also like he just really wants people to just like him.
Just listen to how pretentious his kids are
Thats just bc he is
He doesn't need to worry about what you knuckle heads think about him
He knows what he wants and he'll get it
@@paristhrone2546 He's succesful financially yes but smart no. His kids are a joke and his wife cheated on him. Look at Samuel Jackson now he is actually intelligent and he doesn't act or pretend to be different then he is. I feel like Will is acting putting on a face and Samuel just sits there like his actual self.
I mean his kids are literally that 😂
WIlly can act, but he just comes off as a persona and brand at ALL TIMES.
I think he is carrying on fresh prince role.
'Moving on up'
I think he doesn't know how to switch it off.
@@deekay831 The way he speaks makes me want to punch him in the month. And the word salad that comes out of there is just noise.
He seems VERY inauthentic and guarded and 'on' throughout the entire video. Would much rather listen to the other men...just being themselves.
Nah he's a pretty mediocre actor
@@grayninja9958 I mean there's plenty of movies out there to back up your Comment. But then there's a handful of movies that you can't deny Will Smith was just f****** amazing in. He kind of reminds me a little bit of Keanu Reeves. They both have built up this giant image and it seems in most cases they might fail but they'll still get those dollars and the popularity. Aladdin is a great example of Will Smith's image being able to overcome what was a pretty lousy performance if you asked me.
