Great video! Just a small correction on the terminology you use (the more you know kind of thing): the part of the rifle you are modeling which houses the bolt, firing mechanism, and magazine is not the barrel; it is called the "receiver". Specifically, the "upper receiver" houses the bolt, ejection port and barrel and the "lower receiver" houses the firing mechanism (trigger) and magazine (feeding mechanism). The barrel is exclusively the cylinder out of which the bullet is fired. It's useful to know these distinctions because in certain videogames (like in real life) these parts of the firearm can be swapped out and customised.

Hi, before doing ctrl +, you might need to apply rotation & scale with ctrl a, and recalculate normal in edit mode with shift n, on both object. This will help you to cut the object properly ;)

I end up with 7 verts on top and 9 on the bottom, on your video you have 8 on top and bottom. What am I missing? I retried it a bunch of times with the same results. The bottom of the extruded cylinder always has two more verts.
what i did to fix this is just after adding the cylinder mesh, if you look from the top/z axis, you’ll notice that the top and bottom parts of the cylinder are pointed/have one vert rather than being flat/having two verts. you can just rotate it slightly so that there are two verts on each the top and bottom sides. then after you extrude you’ll have 8 on each side (:

Hi, I am a 3D modeling enthusiast from China (Blender enthusiast), I love hard surface modeling, your gun modeling videos are so perfect that I would like to repost them to a TH-cam site in China. Because accessing TH-cam in China is not an easy task. In the process of reposting your videos, I will not make any profit by reposting your videos, and I will mark your TH-cam video address and author name. If you like, I am happy to do so, and maybe it will also bring some attention to you.
Hi, Thanks for the comment! That sounds good! You will be welcomed to do it :)
i dont understand
Modeling a gun ain’t as easy as it seems though 😂
Unfortunelly you do not say each step that you take while doing the object. Cause not everybody knows all the tools from Blander and we get lost when you do not say and how to do what you did.
bro is like go to wire frame mode refuse to tell us the shortcut... unlucky
Hi, press z key to go to wire frame mode, cheers:)
@Guu_3DCG ok and can you do this for the whole video? Ty ❤️
Am lost mannn...
Hi! If you are not familiar with blender shortcut yet, I'd like to suggest that starting from revolver or sniper rifle tutorial, since they show what key that I pressed:)

Cool video man! Modelling is challenging!
Thank you! :)
i rlly didnt get like any of this tbh 💀
Hi, thanks so the comment! Other tutorial series show shortcut on the viewport, so maybe trying those one leads you to complete tutorial. Good luck :)
Its not for beginner
this is not for beginners dude
hey man, I think if you wanna do a tutorial for beginner you gotta say all the keys you are pressing, or just show the keys you are pressing on screen. Would really help out
Hi, yeah you’re right. I should start showing my key stroke from the very beginning. But I started showing it from part 8, so feel free to ask me if you couldn’t get what I did in video until you reach part 8:)
@@Guu_3DCG Yeah I can't do this without seeing keystrokes but your tutorials are great otherwise.
@@tomblack7168 Hi, thanks for the comment! Actually, I show keystroke from next tutorial series, so if you couldn't follow this series, maybe other tutorial helps you out, thanks:)
hey so I am using the boolean tool at 7:31, but it just wont do anything. I followed this tut properly but it wont slice the barrel, I have blender 4.0, pls tell me
Hi, I have uploaded the tutorial of how to use boolean and I think it shows why it's not working. I hope it helps you:)
