good guide but the problem is really making the "little" details on the gun after you modeled it to make it look as realistic as possible. in that gun model because its low poly you cant see much but in actual real images of guns side view the little bumps on the gun. the writings of the model etc. are very hard to make.
Those would be normally done through normal maps, which are actually fairly easy, especially using programs like substance painter. I do agree though, would've been nice to see the method of making holes etc.
Thing is that when it comes to superficial details. You use normal maps, texturing and UV unwrapping to give it the appearance of having those details which will in turn save a hell of a lot of processing power and performance. It is also best to look at other tutorials that cover these things while working towards a goal whether it'd be to make a game-ready model for anyone or a specific team you are in. It comes together.
if you are going to use this workflow make sure to connect vertices so that you dont have n-gons (faces that have more than 4 sides) since most programs including blender will run into bugs and glitches if you do.
this is nice for beginners, BUT don't get use to this workflow, there's some bad practice involved mainly bad topology. It's good practice to avoid n-gons (faces with more than 4 vertices) and best practice to only have quads (faces with 4 vertices), occasional tris (face with 3 vertices) is okay too.
i dont know why but when i was working on the trigger when you removed the peice 8:20 mine has the whole inside of the gun hollow and idrk how to fix it
Amazing... this tutorial teaches so much about blender and the shortcuts and I can make different types of guns with the same process... (Thank you very much)!
The tutorial is very intuitive but im having an issue with the boolean modifier part. It says i cannot use it in edit mode and even if i switch to object mode the apply button will work, but nothing happens.
Don't know if you still need help but you can try applying scale to the objects by pressing "ctrl+a" and then apply scale option. That is usually problem of booleans working incorectly. Other problem could be geometry but if you followed tutorial it should be OK.
@@StarGriii I'm having this issue and none of the suggestions are working. I separated it, applied the modifier to the larger piece, clicked on the smaller piece as the object with all of the parameters, and nothing. I followed the tutorial practically frame by frame and it's not working. I also searched for other solutions and can't find one that works. When I apply the boolean to the smaller-trigger piece I can see it remove the inside portion as it should. But it refuses to work on the middle barrel portion and in the way as shown in the video. If you have any other suggestions that would be awesome. I tried using bool tools too and I couldn't get it to work. www.youtube.com/@justanaverageviewer8142 , did you ever find a solution?
I like it but it feels a little "rapid fire" when I'm truing to follow along I get lost trying to figure out which key to press. (I'm a full on beginner)
just slow down or replay parts. I hate always having to watch tutorial vids on 2x speed. This guy just does it and if you don't understand what it is he is doing go google it. Most efficient method of learning.
how do i make custom vertices that dont parent to anything. every time i copy one of the points and make a custom shape, it makes it a child of whatever i copied it from. how do i stop this
Search in other video, like “how to make a good texturing in blender”. He didn’t add it here bc texturing is even way harder than just making a model ( for my friend sword blocking took 20-30 mins and the whole texturing 3 hours, bc of things like UV unwrap. That’s actually even with photoshop ).
For texturing you'd need to UV unwrap the object and export fbx and import into a software like substance painter or mudbox. You can add materials to select faces however that is bad practice because it wastes texture space for one object

Yes, it's the "thing that the bullets come out from".
fun fact: the "thing" that he mentioned is not where it comes from. he mentioned the muzzle, the actual bullet goes into and comes from the chamber
@@mcpraventhat casing goes out the chamber not the bullet stop tryna be smart

you have to select the part you want to make a hole with and separate it then go to object mode and apply the modifier
