The way Nate Moore & Coogler butchered T'challa & Wakanda to disgusting as a fan of the Black Panther comics. They had a chance to cement T'challa in the larger cultural canon and failed miserably!

I'll admit that they could have written T'Chala's death more realistically instead of just having him die off screen due to some “mysterious decease” That was lazy writing. Like what were they thinking?
Because their main attention was to pay a tribute and not make a mockery of Chadwick s death.

The experience reminded me of Rise of Skywalker. It just kept going and going and bringing more crazy shit. There were so many characters that didn’t need to be there whatsoever. I’ll add Val to your list. They were just there because of future Disneyplus shows. Ironheart, Thunderbolts, whatever. It’s too bad the filmmakers were probably forced to include them. This could have been a better movie if they had been able to focus on the clash of cultures.

I totally agree pickle! In fact I probably hated it more than you but that's because I was very disappointed that I was proven right on pretty much every single thing I predicted when that first trailer came out which is what I was worried about.
But to be honest the first Black Panther wasn't great either it was nothing groundbreaking like some people like to pretend it was.
Hell I thought it was a poor black panther movie and I thought T'Challa was better represented in civil war than he was in his own damn film.
However, The sequel being even lamer than the first adaptation... For me there's no excuse for that.
I love the Black panther comics and I still do not believe that they have properly put those comics on screen to the best of their abilities unfortunately. 😕

My theory on why Namor was changed so much in this movie is probably because they didn't want him to be compared to Jason Momoa's Aquaman or just Aquaman in general.

I've already decided that I'm not gonna watch this movie. It just doesn't seem that appealing to me, and I already thought this movie's predecessor was kind of boring. Add that to the fact that I hated the Dora Milaje in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and I just know I'm not gonna watch Wakanda Forever.
Yeah I’m in the same boat. It was pretty mid. I gave it a 6/10 but only because I did enjoy certain aspects in regards to the acting from the cast.

I really dislike this film and the fact that MCU constantly goes back on their words . They arent going to recast the BP which they are going to do except w/ a Young Avengers type of character and just because ....you know ip right and the flow of $$ .

The Mcu is broken atm . They are quickly cramming 2 to 4 years down our throats after they throw 12 to 13 years of character and story development out the window because its old now .

This movie completely killed any excitement I had for anything the MCU will do with the Black Panther IP going forward. I honestly believe not recasting T’Challa is the main reason for this and I’m just not invested if the MAIN CHARACTER is not there. No matter how many “emotional” scenes they tried to pull I was like you man I just didn’t care and watching this without the “I miss Chadwick Boseman glasses” really made me see how inferior this movie is compared to the first one. That end credits scene with the made up son that doesn’t even exist in the comic books also just made me more upset because I see what they’re trying to do but no, at that point you should have just recast the actual character instead of doing this crap. So while this movie isn’t as bad as a lot of other movies in Phase 4 it still ain’t good and can’t even come close to the first one
I love the movie I thought it was a great tribute to Chadwick Boseman but my biggest complaint about the film was RiRi Williams aka IronHeart in my opinion she just there to promote her new DisneyPlus show it would of make more sense if Bucky Barnes, a.k.a. the Winter soldier was in this movie not IronHeart. Also I don’t hate IronHeart I just never find this character interesting.
Similar to what GLEE did with Cory Monteith, I didn’t like how they just glanced over the cause and reason of death.
At least with GLEE they start off with Finn already dead and without a reasoning so we can focus on the grief, but it felt a little uncomfortable with the “life support” things knowing it was cancer that ended Chadwick. Cancer is cancer. Say it. Own that it was the cause. But don’t tiptoe around it and then ask us to burst into tears 6 times out the gates.
Shuri got revaed with a spear in the gut through and through then she walks it off.

I'm not an avid comic book reader but what I do know is the heart-shaped herb post to give the Black panther immunity to diseases they should have been creative
I enjoyed this film! I actually enjoyed this story more than the first film. The only real issue I have with this film is the death of Queen Ramonda- that’s the only thing that felt off in this film. I’m ready to see more of Namor, The Talokans, Mbaku as king, and Shuri as The Black Panther in the MCU!

Great video Pickle as always . I had to come back after watching the entire video and not being sidetracked working .
I really feel like the quality of films we will be getting are throw away films that are good watches if you like the characters and comics . there really isnt more love and care over cash grabs and ip ownership. We will never get what we got in the 1st 13 years of Marvel again . While I def love and read a LOT of the existing characters books I just don't feel like there is much to the newest phases except some forced younger characters and plot that just barely connects to others just so we can keep shelling out $$$ to Disney waiting for that 1 film that is great and might be 1 of our fav comic runs .
I liked Namor but not this hijacked version that is just namor by looks . Victoria Alonso is pretty much a thief if she thinks that she can just take an existing character and suddenly speak about representation for HER and her ethnicity because she changes his origin . If this is how we get mutants in the Mcu it a joke . Drinking tainted ayahuasca ...Riiiiiggghhhttt....
I also disliked the unfinished Cgi that the Mcu keeps giving us because they wanna get the finished product out but only unfinished anyways .
Some things were straight up goofy like the way this insanely awesome forcefield that kept thanos's army at bay until opened or dug under . It opens like playing Donkey konga On a Roli and a livid midi controller .
I really wish that they gave us the real Midnight Sons b4 we got this new Midnight Suns but we NEVER will get that ever .
things I liked ...well I liked the destruction of Wakanda and the way everything falls apart and then shuri finds it in her heart to not kill Namor and we get unity . I also love Okoye . I REALLY love M'Baku but they really sidelined him for this MShe U thing .

Sad thing is MARVEL Comics tried this whole Representation and female hero only thing b4 w/ Marvel now and what happened ? The sales dropped dead and they had to stop and start over w/ smart ideas but most just Disney Mcu viewers don't really know source material beyond characters they like and that they have books as well out there . Most feel like if you know the origin story thats about all you need to because these arent the comic characters and I sometimes agree .
Overall this is sad end to the phase and not because it's ending . It's because Boseman is gone and thats the end of it and now Disney pulls a Wu tang clan and CASH RULES EVERYTHING AROUND ME ! and on to the next phase trying to cram 2 phases in 1 times length . As Pickle puts it " Disney thinks we have short attention spans " and we get throw away films that they treat like most of their best villain's ....they get rid of them quickly and move on to the next . It's pretty sad because I truly loved seeing this cinematic universe come to fruition and grow w/ complete care and creator's and directors love for the characters

I just think you have a blind spot. Because outside a very select few, all MCU movies are of this quality or less.
I just see it because I'm not invested in any of these characters. I'm watching from the point of view of just someone wanting to be entertained by the movie. MCU has literally coasted on making Iron Man, Avengers and now Infinity War over and over and over and over again and just relabeling it some thing else.
This is basically an attempt at making infinity war again.
No blind spot here, Phase 4 has just been very mediocre. These movies make Iron Man 1 and The Winter Soldier look like masterpieces by comparison.
@@Dylasophical Not really. I'd take Dr Strange 2 and Black Widow over any Phase 1 movie apart from Avengers. Mater of fact they are the best movies MCU has made bar a very select few. Problem has been over saturation. They've made it so watching MCU isn't an event anymore. And because they've been making the same film over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, putting them so close together makes them blend into each other even more.

Watchmen, V for Vendetta (Which you refuse to watch cause you know its better than anything MCU has ever put out :) ) Dark Knight Trilogy, Supes 1 and 2 Batman Returns, ZSJL, Joker, The Batman. Then even the mid movies are better Wonder Woman Shazam. Look, I know when all is said and done. 50 years from now, either all Superhero movies will be seen as spectacle trash or alternatively, people will think this generation was crazy for not liking DC movies more.
I truly enjoyed it, and I would like to say some things. I personally believe there was never gonna be a good way to do this film. I’ve seen different opinions (they should’ve recast him, why is the opening this way?, he should have died on his feet, etc.) and based on the world we live in, it honestly would have gotten criticized regardless.
Also, I think we should give Ryan Coogler some slack. Given the hand they were dealt, they honestly gave us the best thing to come out of Phase 4 (I’m excluding Spider-Man because it’s more of a Sony production).
They had to accomplish three things:
- Tell it’s own story
- Do the Marvel thing in this overwhelming universe
- Pay Tribute to Chadwick
And that’s hard to do with everyone involved.
The main issue was pacing and runtime as there was a lot in there. But this film is the true definition of how Covid truly effected the process of the whole movie making process.
Now, that post credit sequence was what got me. I think it was beautifully done. With how lackluster to out and out bad the MCU has gotten, the film is truly a breath of fresh air for me. Showed Marvel can do great work going forward if they do try. I also believe that with films like Winter Solider and Infinity War, we kinda expect every superhero film to hit out of the park the way they did and I don’t think they have to. Just my two cents however…
They could have easily used CGI to show Black Panther fighting a giant army that was invading Wakanda. And then have him die in the battle.
