Two For One Special On Passing Trains In 2014

- 24 clips featuring two(or three!)trains passing, crossing, and overtaking at 12 different locations featuring 13 different classes, from 10 different operating companies.
Locations include several on the MML, WCML, and ECML. Classes featured are Class 57, 60, 66, 70, 90, 91, 180, 220, 221, 222, 390, and HST. Operating Companies are DB Schenker, Freightliner, GBRf, DRS, Hull Trains, Virgin Trains, East Coast Trains, Arriva Cross Country, and East Midlands Trains.
Filmed throughout 2014.

0:39 that's quite an amazing scene of three trains passing each other at three different speeds! A year ago, I saw two freight trains pass each other, and an Amtrak train come to a stop a the station on a 3rd track!
1:20 I don't remeber the last time I've seen two trains "race" each other in person!

Thank you, much appreciated. I hope you can make it over here sometime and take a look at our railways - I've not been to America myself, but some local fellow enthusiasts make a couple of trips over to the USA each year to film your massive freight trains.

Very good. It seems you had quite a bit of bad luck with freight getting blocked at Rugby. Liked the first clip with 3 workings passing at Marholm and I remember the last shot very well :)
Darren - I like how you describe this as a "two for one special" when some might say "bowlage special"! (Just ask Ian/NapierNimbus - he's expert on such matters!) Great compilation - particularly liked the 3 in 1 shot at Marholm.

What a wonderful set of clips, especially the absolutely unique clips in theearly part with three trains together.
However, as a pedantic b...., I must point out that many of the clips, especially in the first half were overtaking, not passing - unless the term passing has a different meaning the railways!!

You're not necessarily being pedantic though, the title was originally going to be just "Two For One" but I didn't think this was maybe clear enough so added the "Passing" - which I think can cover overtaking(you'll hear F1 commentators and drivers say passing a lot more than overtaking), where as I actually though some of the clips were crossing more than passing.............? :-)

No, DB purchased EWS and started operating in Britain.
DB Cargo(formerly DB Schenker)run the largest freight operating company in the UK now, although most of their fleet still wear former owner EWS colours.

It's a footbridge on Hurn Road, Marholm, a little north of Peterborough on the ECML - Milepost 80 to be exact :-)
