    I've watched this probably hundreds of time, every time when I had cravings I watch this to give me a reasons why I shouldn't smoke and so far it worked. So far 3 weeks without smoking after 15 years of smoking and hundreds of fail quitting attempts. I will not going back there that's for sure

      Good on you, Lex. I'm thinking that way and I'm only on day 3.

    • @lexjones4733
      @lexjones4733 11 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      MrAsificare dont count the days, count the weeks. If you get cravings just drink loads of water, it sounds strange but it works. and keep reminding yourself that if you give in you have to start from zero days again. keep your days going up. starting from day 1 again would be a huge setback

      I am bro trust me, any in particular

    • @lexjones4733
      @lexjones4733 10 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Jeffrey sawyer the cravings took ages to go away, around 8 months. Every time i got cravings I just drank soo much water. I also used to work out a lot and spend alot of time on the tredmill and started lifting weights. My first ever attempt on the treadmill i lasted 7 minutes & felt like i was going to faint when i got off. almost 2 years on now i can run 30 to 40 minutes on the treadmill & get off with out feeling like im going to die. Anyway the secret to quitting smoking is your will power, if you really want to quit then you will. but the only advise i can give you with regards to the cravings is to drink as much water as possible as soon as you get a craving. It will leave you feeling bloated & put you off a cigaret

    • @lexjones4733
      @lexjones4733 10 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      ***** yea cravings all gone. i havent had one in ages. I actually dont even like being around people that smoke. It makes me feel sick. It is a disgusting habit and my life is 100x better without those cancer sticks. Mind you also used to smoke shisha aswell which is realy bad and the ocasional plant. if you really want to quit get your mind set and straight. You can do anything if you've got the will power.

      you are right for someone who hasnt smoked much..
      But for people like me who are smoking 2 packs a day for more than 10 years, each day is a fight and the day count is our trophy. I feel proud . Its been 76 days for me now. I dont count, but i remember the date i left. I did count for a month though .
      All the best to those who are early in the fight. Keep your resolve strong. This is your best decision ever..

    In one hour it'll be 3 weeks, smoke free...I don't plan on ever smoking again...first week was hell...now it gets easier. I dont think about it till someone mentions to me that im not smoking anymore. Then im reminded that I use to smoke. Hardest part is breaking habits I associated with smoking. Like long phone conversations, after sex, long drives to work everyday (45min) and anything were I'm bored or creating something (music etc). But now I realize, I was fooled into thinking I need to smoke to do those things. Lol...and I workout now!! Now I feel I can do anything...currently writing a book. (Not smoking related)

    Just quit smoking around 3 days ago..and everyone's body is different but I can already feel the health benefits. You literally feel this evil poison leave your body and it's also true that foods and smells intensify and go back to normal. The good things in life are good again! I'm 28 and had been smoking since I was 18. I quit cold turkey. Best thing I've ever done. Although I hope the weight gain thing isn't always true but not giving up for nothing. Thanks for this inspirational video!!

    Day 52 cold turkey. I don't wake up feeling like crap anymore. No more troubles breathing and have been confidently jogging for almost a month now. At this point I barely think about it and when I do I only think of the progress I've made since.

    Just quit 3 days ago. I can't sleep properly (3-4 hours/day since I've stopped), I've been experiencing the worst headaches and my ability to snap at people is scaring me. My anger/irritability worries me the most. I'm unpredictable and my inability to control my emotions is actually freaking me out.

    I'm on day 5. Day 3 was a turning point. I had increased appetite on that day, mixed with waves of depression, along the level of the death of a pet, but a bit different. On day 3 I was keenly aware that my body was functioning better, esp. in regard to blood pressure and my ability to climb stairs. Day 3 was a challenge because that's when my brain was trying to talk me into just bumming a smoke. I didn't fall for my self-lies...that along with swimming & sleep got me through it. Good luck!

      Keep it up man, I'm past the three week mark and it's so exciting. Anytime you have a craving, what works for me is a sip of really cold water, and take a deep breath, and then imagine not being able to take that breath without a machine hooked up to you. Also, when you take a deep breath, imagine in a few months how much deeper you will be able to breathe.
      I cant wait till summer to see how long I can hold my breath under water.

    I just followed you, I smoked for ten years, the last 5 years was the peak of it, like ten sticks a day and even more with friends during party with alcochol and beer. I quit 4 months ago and i had that anxiety on and off, headache on and off, breathing difficulty on and off. I suffered a lot after quitting. I also gained so much, now i am planningbto reduce weight.

    Day 104!! = 3 1/2 months.. For those of you who are on day 2 or 5 please stay positive. I didn't know how I was going to get through I but I did. I often hear people say they crave it after years of quitting but I don't see how. The smell and thought of it is revolting. I heard a guy once say "I quit 100s of times before I actually quit" that gave me some inspiration. Also watching Terri hall (RIP) and Debbie Austin (RIP) service announcements helped me through this journey. Good luck guys!!!!

    I have had asthma since i was a kid, i started smoking at 13 years old, i quit when i was 24 in summer, after nearly dying from an asthma attack on a train, i forgot my inhaler at home and had a big attack :( but after 4 years of quitting i started again when i was 28 in the summer, im 29 now and just quit again ;) 2 days so far so good :))) I love life to much to throw it away over some little white sticks of smoke. I am not a slave to them, i control my life and i choose what i do with it :) I LOVE LIFEEEEEEEE!!!!

    Quit on November 15, 2012 (today's May 31, 2013). Had 6 and a half cigarettes in the time between, the last one's been by the beginning of April, but only until I realized what I was doing. Now I also quit drinking although I've never really drank much. Never really missed it, only sometimes I thought "I could use a cigarette right now" but nearly never gave in. I'm proud of myself because I always stood up while next to smokers and I don't think/hope I'm ever gonna return!

I reminded myself with every craving that feeling healthy is a better feeling than nicotine. my cravings lasted about 30 sec. After 2 months I had no more cravings. By my reckoning, you should have celebrated 100 days of no-smoking yesterday ...... I really hope you hit that milestone. Well Done !!
    When you were on 48 days, I was just starting out after 40 years of smoking - & "one day at a time" was all very well, but its painfully slow, before you start to feel some achievement. Now I'm fine, counting in weeks , rather than days, no patches, and never going to smoke again.. Thanks for the inspiration you gave me - when I needed it.

    2 weeks to the day. Quit because I needed to free up some extra capital. I do not think that I will start again, I like how much better I feel in general. I still crave them, but I am sure my will is strong enough to resist.

    I am 21 and have been smoke free for 4 weeks! I quit because I work in retail and see people walk in and I automatically know they have been smoking for years. They smell like it, wrinkles, raspy voices, and I realized I never wanted to end up that way. Let me tell you, third day= BRUTAL. It was the day I hated everybody. Irritable, increased appetite, depressed, poopie problems, lol. By the fourth day my smell and taste was so much better! I wanted to eat and smell everything! Gained a good 1

    Its completely psychological. If you actually don't want to smoke, you wont actually want to smoke. Take control of your feelings, you are the controller of your mind and body!

    Day 3 and I feel great! :)
    Reading Alen Carr's book is helping me realise that I don't have to be miserable about not smoking anymore. In fact I feel free from smoking. It is key to be upbeat when quitting. Last time I quit I was in the dumps about it all and was bouned to start smoking again. All the best to all of you. You can do it.

    I've been smoke free for 14 days now. I am taking the patch and gum. My cravings have gone down a bit. Before it was ALL day long I wanted one. Now, it's just here and there. My advice to those quitting: keep your mouth busy chewing gum, drinking water, inhaling through a straw, etc. It really really helps.

    I've done the patch, I've done the pill, I've done the lozenges …. and I failed each and every time. Yesterday, I decided .. I'm just going to stop smoking, one day at a time and deal with whatever comes along. Yes, I've noticed a difference in my breathing and yes I feel 'better' … but the urges are still here. I'm going to keep putting food in my moth and drink LOTS of water …. I'm just tired of smoking and having to find a "place to smoke" in public arenas.
    I QUIT!

    So I recently quit smoking and I'll run into people I know who smoke too. They'll offer me a smoke and I'll tell them I'm quitting and they'll go "Oh good job man..." while they roll their eyes in disbelief and then I'll respond, "it's been 20 days." Then their whole attitude changes from disbelief to, "Oh my god O.O BRAVO, we gotta get you on a talkshow ASAP!" It's a very satisfying feeling deep down to defy peoples expectations about you and it helps keep you motivated to keep defying them.

    Have you noticed that if a smoker has said something bad about you, and you've responded with 'well, at least I don't smoke' you can't actually remember what they said in the first place, nor what they said in response? Scary.....

    5 weeks and counting. Was dizzy for 2 weeks, because of adjusting to raised oxygen levels. One day of palpitations. Developed chronic cough, but it's diminishing. Taste and smell have returned. I've got a lot more energy these days. Two months mark, here I come.

    The thing to remember is 19 years and 8 months of those 20 years you feel pretty much normal, as before you started. The hard part is the first couple of weeks, then it drops every day until you stop crave any cigarettes at all.
