I keep expecting to eventually get bored of listening to Stranger In The Alps, but every time I listen to it, it’s like I’m falling in love with it all over again. As sad as some of the songs are, it soothes me completely.

Interestingly, that's what a lot of reviewers have written; that she writes sad lyrics but their balanced by a feeling of...I don't know, serenity? Not sure the word to use, but soothing works perfectly actually.

It has really grown on me and she is really talented and cares about her music. I can't say that about most new artists. She is new, unique and just simply amazing; I relate to almost all of her songs.

  • @PeterGorla
    @PeterGorla 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    00:30 **Smoke Signals**
"Smoke Signals" is inspired by the emotional turmoil Phoebe Bridgers felt after losing a close friend, and the lyrics contain references to significant events in her life, including the death of her father.
    06:50 **Funeral**
Bridgers wrote "Funeral" after attending the funeral of a friend who passed away due to an overdose. The song reflects her own feelings of depression and the complex emotions tied to mourning.
    11:10 **Georgia**
"Georgia" was one of the earliest songs Phoebe Bridgers wrote, and it has been a fan favorite since its debut, even though it was never officially released on an album until much later.
    16:30 **Demi Moore**
The title "Demi Moore" is a reference to the famous actress, but the song itself is about the loneliness that comes with a one-sided, unreciprocated love, often amplified by the digital world.
    21:05 **Killer**
Killer" delves into the darker side of love and obsession, with lyrics that explore themes of emotional manipulation and the destructive nature of unhealthy relationships.
    24:30 **Scott Street**
"Scott Street" is a reflection on the passing of time and the inevitable changes in relationships. The song is named after a street in Los Angeles, adding a personal touch to the story Bridgers tells.
    32:25 **Motion Sickness**
"Motion Sickness" is one of Bridgers' most well-known songs, rumored to be about her tumultuous relationship with fellow musician Ryan Adams. The song addresses the power dynamics and emotional fallout of that relationship.
    37:10 **You Missed My Heart**
This song is actually a cover of a song by Mark Kozelek (Sun Kil Moon). Bridgers' version on her album adds a haunting, stripped-down interpretation that has been widely praised for its emotional depth.

I came across Phoebe Bridgers at the release of Motion Sickness as a single, didn't mind it, but kinda dismissed her and didn't bother to listen to the album..then BOCC came onto my radar and I loved the album, but figured it was mainly Conor....then I heard I know the End when the video was released and I was blown away....now I have gone back and revisited her as an artist and I just can't get enough. Phoebe..I am sorry I dismissed you so flippantly when i first heard you...but at least I got there in the end

same! I tried motion sickness and i was like "nah" but now i have REGRETS...I could've been listening for months longer! ah well we got there in the end

Same story here. I started with Kyoto then MS, but MS put me off and I didn't listen to her for a while after that. When I listened to the rest of the songs in her second album, I felt bad about having ignored her. Just like Ashley said, I'm glad I got there in the end.

When an artist can pull in four generations of listeners that is one talented person. And I can't even discriminate the words because of my hearing loss. I listen to young contemporary artists to have a
vision of what a life might be like going forward with the wide variety and formats of music that is available. It gives me perspective. Thank you Phoebe. Kate Schroeder, BD 7/22 will be 80.

It is rather outstanding to sing as the second tune, in front of this consert audience : "Singing at a funeral tomorrow", and then think that you get along with it. But she does. The public have trust in her. And miracles occurs.
