    Dr. Kurt, what an incredible discourse. The extreme depth of mutualism you reveal, does glorify God and cause us to stand in awe and worship of Him. As a geophysicist/geologist/mathematician/Biblical teacher I whole heartedly agree with your conclusions. There are things we don't understand, but also things we can understand that lead us to the amazement of just how much God has invested in our existence. Your students are blessed to have you as their prof.

      @@ramptonarsecandle I merely asked a question. If you are going to use abusive language, consider our discussion ended.
      It always strikes me as odd that people who think humans are an assortment of random chemicals can determine absolute right and wrong (not, this feels good or bad; I mean objective morality.) They always make an emotional appeal based on human's inherent sense of right and wrong, which cannot be based on some evolutionary process; if it is, it can change. What may be "right" today may be wrong tomorrow.
      God gave man dominion over the earth. As such, it is his responsibility to feed the populace. If he fails to do so, he can blame himself for negligence or misuse of abundant resources which God has provided. The blame lies squarely on humans for disease, starvation, war and a million other atrocities. Men rebelled against God, and as He has said, "the wages of sin is death".

    • @Nigel.123
      @Nigel.123 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ramptonarsecandle I am asking a legitimate question: how do you determine right and wrong? If humans are the product of random chance mutations how can there be objective morality? I've never gotten any other answer from atheists than "well, we just KNOW!" If you want to stay consistent with your worldview, you would say there is no objective standard. Either individuals determine it (that changes from person to person), society determines it (again, that changes from society to society), the majority determines it (also changes), or there is a standard set by the one who created us that does not change.
      The Bible doesn't condone rape, genocide etc. People who say that twist the scriptures out of context. But even if it did, humans are just rearranged pond scum according to you, so why does it matter?

    • @Nigel.123
      @Nigel.123 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ramptonarsecandle The fact that some people profess to know Jesus but abuse children in no way shows God's approval of child abuse. The Bible is very clear that people who say they know God but disobey His commandments do not know Him. I could profess to be a Muslim and deny the Quran is inspired, say that Muhammad is not a prophet and eat pork, but my actions would contradict my profession.
      Atheists always try to use portions of the scriptures like a sock puppet to make it say what they want it to say. They say "God is a moral monster!" but give no basis for their reasoning; they always borrow from a christian worldview to claim objective morality.
      You ignore the context of Deuteronomy 20. The Israelites would only attack another nation if they were first invaded. If the Assyrians, for example, would not let Israel live in peace, they would have had no choice but to take military action against them. The most compassionate thing they could do after killing the male soldiers would be to give sanctuary and protection to the women and children. Remember, God told Israel not to oppress strangers (Exodus 23:9). It stands to reason that they would give the women a choice as to whether they would want to marry an Israelite. The Bible actually commands the death penalty for rapists (Deuteronomy 22:25,26)
      You must have a real problem with the Allies for invading Nazi Germany. How dare those soldiers "murder" all those poor Nazis? Leaving all those poor women and children fatherless?
      I've answered your question, now please answer mine. How can a product of random mutation, a biological accident, determine absolute right and wrong?

      Actually, there have not been dozens or hundreds. The Creator is One and unique. He is eternal and almighty. You are confusing other "gods" with the actual Creator. Pagan gods are not eternal, infinite Creators of all things.

    • @johnaz7778
      @johnaz7778 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dooglitas I suggest that you do a little studying in comparative religion. You will find that all, or nearly all have a creator god. That you don't accept that is immaterial. People believed in and prayed to them. If you want to put forth your version of a god, you need to have evidence that yours is the correct one.

    • @dooglitas
      @dooglitas 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnaz7778 I have done that study. Most "creators" in other religions are themselves created beings. They do not create the universe ex nihilo but reform a primordial chaotic "something." Some religions actually mention an actual creator but do not actually worship that Creator. Many native American tribal religions mention a creator but their actual worship is toward created spirits, gods, demons, and objects of nature (rocks, mountains, animals, etc.). They usually have only a vague idea of the nature of said Creator. Taoism is basically an atheistic religion, but it does mention an eternal creator, but they do not worship Him and do not really know anything about Him.

      @johnaz7778 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dooglitas doesn't change my point or my question. Bottom line is this, what makes you think your version of a creator god is correct? If you give that god traits, you must be able to demonstrate those traits.

    • @dooglitas
      @dooglitas 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnaz7778 First of all, the so-called Abrahamic religions are the only ones that really give specific definite traits to the creator. The Christian Creator and the Jewish Creator are the same. The Muslim Creator has traits that are more like the Satan of the Bible than the actual Creator.
      And what I said previously actually does change your point. You just are not paying attention.
      There are many reasons I believe the God of the Bible to be the true Creator. However, I have no idea what you mean by your comment that I "must be able to demonstrate those traits." You will have to clarify that for me.
      That being said, there are certain "traits" of the Creator that must be true simply because they are necessary for Him to actually be the Creator. He must be eternal, without a beginning. This is where the biblical God is unique among virtually all deities in virtually all religions.
      Next, the Creator must be unimaginably powerful. We call that "omnipotent" or "almighty."
      He must be outside of and separate from the physical universe and be outside time and space, as we understand it. The reason for this is that time and space are part of the fabric of our physical universe. For the Creator to create this universe, He cannot exist in time and space, as we understand those concepts.
      He must be unimaginably intelligent and infinitely original and "creative." For Him to create the universe out of nothing without any previous thing to copy or use as a model requires a level of intelligence unimaginable to us.
      Those are some of the traits that are self-evident for a Creator of all things. Other pagan, non-Christian religions simply do not have a belief in a Creator with the attributes I have just mentioned.
      Beyond those characteristics, the Christian God is loving, righteous, just, holy, and many other things. The reasons I believe those things are greater than I can get into in this comment. If you have specific questions about specific divine attributes of the biblical God, I could discuss them later.

      @@ramptonarsecandle Your first silly assertion is that the idea that an eternal Creator could create the universe is "ridiculous." Your second silly assertion is that if you ask Christian creationists about things like slavery, murder, genocide, etc., that you get "hand waving" and changing of the subject. Those issues have been substantially tackled and discussed by Christian writers, thinkers, and theologians in detail for centuries. Your third silly assertion is that man has "always invented gods to explain the unexplainable." That is a misleading and not completely true statement. It is true that people have in the past often attributed the mysterious things in the world to various gods, but they did not "invent" those gods. This is especially true of the God of the Bible. He was not invented by men. Your fourth silly assertion is that the Bible (I assume that is the "story" you are referring to) is "poorly written." Your fifth silly assertion is that if you ask them (Christians?) to give evidence for the existence of God, you get "more hand waving." Total nonsense. There are thousands of books, articles, lectures, blogs, videos, and full-length movies that have been produced over hundreds of years giving evidence for the existence of God. Your claim is ridiculous.

    • @dooglitas
      @dooglitas 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ramptonarsecandle Mentioning books and videos, etc., is not "special pleading." I was simply demonstrating that there are thousands of Christians who have not waved their hands but have given detailed explanations of the evidence. The material in this video is evidence of God's existence. The existence of life is evidence of God's existence. There are only two possibilities for the existence of life: Either it was created by a divine Creator or it came about by natural processes from non-living matter (called agiogenesis). Abiogenesis has absolutely no evidence to support it. In fact, the evidence that does exist demonstrates that abiogenesis is impossible. There are many other evidences of a Creator. If you would actually read some of those books, articles, blogs or watch the videos or movies, you would not ask the question. If you have done such investigation, I would be glad to discuss specific objections or questions you may have, but I am definitely not waving my hands. I have a very hard time taking anyone seriously, though, who claims there is "no evidence" for the existence of the Creator.
      Your claim that man "created" God/gods is simply a belief and a claim. It is not an established fact. Your claim that the biblical God came from the Canaanite pantheon is likewise a belief and a claim, not an actually established fact.
      Your claim that the God of the Bible "advocates" owning another human or killing children or sacrificing children is a gross misstatement of the actual facts. You ask me to give you evidence. I ask you to give me evidence of your claims about the God of the Bible. If you give me specifics, I can discuss it with you intelligently, but I cannot intelligently discuss vague, general claims you make. This is not "hand waving" or "special pleading." I simply need specifics to discuss it with you. For instance, where do you get the idea that the God of the Bible advocates sacrificing children? I should point out that without God, there is no basis for you to object to such things as wrong. Without a God who is the supreme moral authority, there can be no objective standard of what is right and wrong. So your objection is absurd at its foundation.
      Your claim of supposed "mistakes" in the Bible is unfounded. I don't want a list of mistakes. Anyone can make up a list. Again, give me specifics, and we can discuss each specific point. But once again, that claim has been answered and debunked by thousands of Christian theologians and scholars over hundreds of years. Don't bother giving me a list. I cannot possibly answer every case in your list in this comment section. Others have done so, and many of those answers are available online. But I would be happy to discuss a few of your alleged "contradictions." You are certainly not the first person to make that accusation. However, your comments are typical disingenuous atheist attacks. You really don't care to hear any actual answers to your claims. You only wish to attack Christianity and God.

    With the vastness of space, there should be other life outside of our world if it was all caused by accident and just the right amount of elements coming together at the right time to make life and then evolve into the indescribable different forms of life in our world. We should have seen positive proof of other life, and it should be everywhere in the universe. But what do we receive when we listen, silence and background noise?
    Or we can go to the Bible that says the heavens and earth were formed, and God spoke life, and it was done.
    There is so much we don't know and to me, the Bible is our history, not fables like evolution.
    Our home has life on every inch and every water drop that supports life. Life took hold because God told it to. We are not an accident!
    But the scientists come up with yet another fable to tell the masses.
    I have watched videos that show proof of the great flood that is in the Bible from video produced by “Is Genesis History?” Recently I read about the theory that 3 times the surface water is trapped under the crust. That is where all the water came from during the flood and then returned afterward.
    Also, the great James Webb Telescope, our new eye in the sky, looking back to the start of time, has shocked scientists. If the universe was an accident, then it should be chaos right after the big bang, but no, they find significant, fully formed galaxies.
    There was a big bang after God spoke.
    What an Awesome God!

      In the new creation people, even as Adam and Eve were meant to do before the fall, will continue to procreate. As earth becomes populated, there will be need for new places to live.
      God will have barren planets ready to become teaming with life, even as the earth is, all originated from the earth.
      It will be exciting and challenging times!

      @@theshadow4737 there are several problems with that comment. Let’s assume you are telling the truth and they are lying then they are sinning. You are therefore implying that those who sinned will not make it to heaven? My Bible tells me that everyone sins. Now let’s assume that they are not lying but are in error. Then they have not sinned and it is your job to correct that error. I am not sure you can do that since the entire video was talking about design in nature which seems irrefutable. There are only two possibilities. Either we evolved over millions of years and all of the infinite complexities organically first came from inorganic material then randomly formed by mutations through the process of natural selection (which I think is absurd) or the complexities were designed.

      “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD; for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”(Jeremiah 31:31-34, KJV)

    I love the idea of Bacteria Day. The majority of the DNA in our bodies is within the bacteria. So many of us are afraid of bacteria. God doesn’t make anything that is bad...there are no bad bacteria, or bad viruses, or bad fungi. Anything we fear, we label as bad. Fear is an indicator that we lack understanding of God’s Creation and the Laws that govern it. As 1 John 4:18 says, perfect love casts out fear.

    God is not a trinity, but is an infinity of infinities.
    Referring to “God the Father, the Son & the Holy Spirit” is harmful.
    It excludes God the Mother, and it separates us from Jesus, who is our brother with the same potential as we have...which the Bible specifically says we have the same potential! (John 14:12)
    Why?
    Simple. It separates us from the actual Truth....which ALWAYS results in fear. Fear is the “weapon of the adversary”....the tool of Satan.
