    Fall Creek Falls in Tennessee provides an informative location for paleontologist Kurt Wise to discuss what the world was like after the Flood, from giant volcanoes, to animal dispersion, to the Ice Age. In closing, Dr. Wise and Del Takett address why some believers doubt or refuse to accept the Genesis account of Origins.
    Dr. Wise earned his BA in geology from the University of Chicago, and his MA and PhD degrees in paleontology from Harvard University. He founded and directed the Center for Origins Research at Bryan College and taught biology there for 17 years. He then led the Center for Theology and Science at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary for 3 years, before founding and directing the Center for Creation Research and teaching biology at Truett McConnell University for the last 7 years.
    His fieldwork has included research in early Flood rocks in the Death Valley region, late Flood rocks in Wyoming, and post-Flood caves in Tennessee.

    As a retired scientist, I love this series. When science transitions from an ongoing quest for knowledge and understanding to become the Keeper and Dispenser of TRUTH, it ceases to be science and becomes just another man-made religion to be blindly swallowed and followed. Such science makes a shabby excuse for a god compared to the eternal Author of Truth. Indeed, such science makes itself and its followers blind to truth yet proud of its false wisdom. Seeking the truth will ultimately lead to the One who is the Truth.

      @Paul K If science is not bias can you explain to me how the theory of evolution is taught to us as if it is the law of evolution?

    • @rougebaba3887
      @rougebaba3887 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Paul K This is an interesting discussion. I have a few questions about what you write.
      "Every individual is biased in some way, so no one gets to decide what is or isn't a fact. Facts are produced through a process called The Scientific Method because it removes all bias and leaves only facts"
      I find it somewhat curious that you admit everyone has their biases, and then proceed to announce a very concrete belief about how to overcome such biases. So here's my first question related to this: Is the scientific method our only reliable guide to truth?
      You say "No true scientist speaks" in the manner the OP did in his post, describing his behavior as "hypocrisy". You talk as if there is something morally wrong with his behavior. But is there something wrong with hypocrisy? Is it something that he shouldn't do? If so, why?

    • @climbinhawaiian7881
      @climbinhawaiian7881 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Paul K A simple response would have sufficed, yet you felt it necessary to go on a tangent in which you discredited my beliefs when I never even stated them, I simply posed a question. If you find me idiotic for looking for intelligence and design behind this vastly complicated and unique world we live in then you are really not swaying my opinion by insulting me. Why is it naive and moronic to look for purpose in one's life? I believe science isn't magic and God created science he also gave all his creation the ability to adapt to one's environment, this in MY opinion adequately explains people's percieved THEORY of evolution. We see so many examples of adaptation around us it's what makes a Chihauhau and a Great Dane vastly different yet genetically the same. Many scientists especially those in the field of biology come to their own understanding of a creator over time the further they study in their field. And yet I'm considered a fool because I find it hard to believe that the entirety of human life came to be purely by accident. I think it's foolish to not believe that none of this matters, what a sad way to live your life. That is not an insult to you or your beliefs, I truly feel sorry that you have no hope for our future.

      Paul K, you wrote, "Scientists don't get to choose which or any part of a hypothesis is true or false. The facts do that by themselves. Your assumption that your god exists fails all attempts to confirm it and that in itself proves your conclusions are unreliable."
      Your assumptions that there is no God proves your conclusions are unreliable. You should rely on the conclusions of a real scientist, if you expect to be believed.
      This was written by a real scientist. Pay attention:
      _"[T]he parity of reason must take place in the celestial spaces above the earth's atmosphere; in which spaces, where there is no air to resist their motions, all bodies will move with the greatest freedom; and the planets and comets will constantly pursue their revolutions in orbits given in kind and position, according to the laws above explained; but though these bodies may, indeed, persevere in their orbits by the mere laws of gravity, yet they could by no means have at first derived the regular position of the orbits themselves from those laws... This most beautiful system of the sun, planets, and comets, could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent and powerful Being." [Isaac Newton, "Newton's Principia: the Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy." Daniel Adee, 1846, Book III, p.501]_
      It has been over 300 years since Isaac Newton wrote that statement; and scientists still do not have a clue how our solar system was formed, nor how the planets and moons attained their orbits.

      I would actually like to hear him give a date for this flood. He interprets all the data as pointing to a great flood, but doesn't the data also give us an idea as to when it all happened? When did this flood occur?

    • @BibleResearchTools
      @BibleResearchTools 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Will Mo, you wrote, "I would actually like to hear him give a date for this flood. He interprets all the data as pointing to a great flood, but doesn't the data also give us an idea as to when it all happened? When did this flood occur?"
      It depends on the translation. The Masoretic Hebrew text gives a flood date of about 4,000 years ago. The Greek translation of an older Hebrew text gives a date of a little over 5,000 years ago, as interpreted by Demetrius:
      _"Demetrius the chronographer (ca. 220BC) Demetrius was a Hellenistic Jewish historian who wrote in Alexandria during the reign of Ptolemy IV (221-205 BC). He is 'the earliest datable Alexandrian-Jewish author we know' (Finegan 1998, 141). Demetrius' works are preserved in Eusebius' Praeparatio Evangelica and Clement of Alexandria's Stromata. He wrote in Greek (Hanson 1983, 183, n. 6) and is the earliest known witness to the Septuagint. In Demetrius' chronological system, Creation is dated at 5307 BC and the Flood at 3043 BC (Finegan 1998, 145)."_

      _"In Fragment __2:18__, Demetrius writes, '[F]rom Adam until Joseph's brothers came into Egypt, there were 3624 years; and from the Deluge until Jacob's coming into Egypt, 1360 years' (Eusebius, Praeparatio Evangelica, 9.21.18). These figures yield a period of 2264 years from Adam to the Flood (3624-1360). Demetrius is obviously using the LXX's longer chronology. For his antediluvian chronology to add up to 2264/2 years, the begetting age for Methuselah must be 187. Thus, Demetrius is the earliest known witness to an LXX manuscript that contained the 187 reading for Genesis 5:25, remarkably close in time to the original Greek translation of the Pentateuch (ca. 281 BC)."_

Dr. Wise is fondly remembered and much loved here from his teaching days at Bryan College in Dayton. Perhaps you have been brainwashed by Charlie Lyell, as this evolutionary geologist asserts:
      _"My excuse for this lengthy and amateur digression into history is that geology got into the hands of the theoreticians who were conditioned by the social and political history of their day more than by observations in the field. So it was-as Steve Gould put it-that Charles Lyell 'managed to convince future generations of geologists that their science had begun with him.' In other words, we have allowed ourselves to be brainwashed into avoiding any interpretation of the past that involves extreme and what might be termed 'catastrophic' processes. However, it seems to me that the stratigraphical record is full of examples of processes that are far from 'normal' in the usual sense of the word. In particular we must conclude that sedimentation in the past has often been very rapid indeed and very spasmodic. This may be called the 'Phenomenon of the Catastrophic Nature of the Stratigraphic Record.'" [Derek V. Ager, "The Nature of the Stratigraphical Record." John Wilson & Son, 3rd Ed, 1993, Chap 4, p.70]_
      It is important to note that Ager was a devout evolutionist who believed in an old earth; but he never explained why he believed that way. Perhaps he, too, was brainwashed. LOL!

    I love this channel! I love listening to proving Gods creation is TRUTH.
    I mentioned this on one of the other videos I watched and I'd like to mention this again because this is what the Holy Spirit enlightened me with.
    God our creator doesn't have a birthday date nor a death date. God has always been. And not one man on this earth will ever be able to carbon date God because he is FOREVER.
    Therefore when God SPOKE creation into existence, creation came out of God; the heavens, the earth, the stars, the planets, etc... But when man want to carbon date rocks the time charts are all over the place.
    This is how I explained it to my 13 year old grandson.
    You are 13 years old. You spit today in your hands. But you created that spit TODAY but your spit is really age 13 because it came from you. How old is that spit? It's 13 years old plus it's also 1 day old because you created it TODAY.
    This is how God is. I believe His WORD when it says God created everything in six days and on the seventh day He rested. Do I believe God needs a rest day? No not really, but His WORD was written this way because God knows the beginning to the end and He set it up for mankind. Because there are 6,000 years of sin and 1,000 years of peace with our King Jesus.
    Just one more thing to add. People do not know how to touch God. Everything they do has to be through the flesh. God is Spirit and we worship Him in Spirit and in Truth and neither one of these; "Spirit", "Truth", can a human touch or feel. Because God lived in the Spirit world. But Praise God, through His son Jesus Christ, God gave us a way to touch him in His Spirit, and that also includes the Holy Spirit which is a beautiful Gift given to us if we obey and give our lives to Him through Jesus Christ so that we can live eternal with Him in Spirit and a glorified body for all eternity. But it's a choice.
    You either choose to live eternally in heaven or you deny Jesus the Savior and live eternally in hell. Praise the Lord I've given him 51 years of my life. What a wonderful plan of salvation.
    Once again thank you for this channel. God bless you all to the fullest. Amen!

      Hans De Mos, you wrote, "@Christus Mea Lux Is your racism part of your religious delusions or is it a personal addition?"
      Just what the world needs: another bigot playing the race card. Are you aware that racism "exploded" after Charlie Darwin released his silly books? The late Stephen Jay Gould (Kurt Wise's PhD advisor at Harvard) explains:
      _"Biological arguments for racism may have been common before 1859, but they increased by orders of magnitude following the acceptance of evolutionary theory. The litany is familiar: cold, dispassionate, objective, modern science shows us that races can be ranked on a scale of superiority. If this offends Christian morality or a sentimental belief in human unity, so be it; science must be free to proclaim unpleasant truths. But the data were worthless. We never have had, and still do not have, any unambiguous data on the innate mental capacities of different human groups-a meaningless notion anyway since environments cannot be standardized." Fall Creek Falls is indeed very beautiful, but I'm not sure Dr. Wise is correct in identifying the "trickle" he points to as an "underfit river". Man-made 345 acre Fall Creek Falls Lake is behind a dam less than a mile upstream from Fall Creek Falls. The dam controls the flow of water to the falls. In February, 2019, Fall Creek Falls State Park was closed by local flooding.
    As I'm sure Dr. Wise knows, the area is characterized by a "caprock" layer of sandstone over softer layers of sedimentary rocks. The deeper layers are more easily weathered and eroded, which can lead to the collapse of the upper sandstone layer. This helps explain the very steep cliffs found in the area.

Science and the Holy Scriptures compliment each other perfectly, just because we can't explain all things around us through science does not mean there was not a Supreme being that caused all things to come about in perfect harmony. An interesting Scripture to meditate on = A Psalm of David in Psalm 14:1 The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds; There is no one who does good. / Psalm 95:3-5 For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land." 😎
