I remember my first experience with VR. I wanted to buy an HTC Vive but they were selling for 600€ + at the time, way too much to afford with pocket money. It is when I saw your video about the Lenovo explorer that I considered WMR. I ended up buying a bright blue ACER WMR headset second hand at a killer price. Now theses headsets were certainly flawed. The hinge often broke, the controllers were eating batteries faster than I could buy them and they were particularly picky about the kind of USB3 controller you had (killing your ears to let you know). Nonetheless they were a great entrypoint into the world of VR which allowed me to meet amazing people. I ended up trading it for a Vive some time after, which was a nice upgrade (though the image quality took a hit), and now rocking a Quest 3. It goes without saying that my VR journey would have been quite different was it not for WMR.
I have a similar fondness for the Rift S that you have for WMR. It was the first PC headset I bought and despite its flaws it worked well for me. I enjoyed it a lot at the time but would probably have difficulty going back to it. If you didn't already know, the Quest 2 permanently reduced its price to $200 earlier this year. It's crazy to think that 5 years ago there was nothing even close to that kind of value for VR.
@@iconoclass quest 2 is sadly discontinued and out of stock. That’s why the price was lowered, to get rid of stock. But yeah, it was a great deal for those who could grab it.
My 1st VR Headset was the PSVR and the 1st Headset I ever used was the Oculus Rift and 2nd Headset I bought which I still have is the PSVR2 and then I bought the Quest 3 when it came out last year October which is for Mixed Reality games and apps and i use my PSVR2 for VR Games
It’s funny how I stumbled upon this channel just to learn more about WMR headsets like Samsung O+. I am grateful for getting into VR just for Half Life Alyx. Those prices were great for what I wanted to do. I think it’s sad that my HP Reverb 2 will be obsolete in a year or two. Even with my declining interest in VR, I am happy with what WMR provided. Thank you for talking about this.
First off, nice video! I owned a Lenovo Explorer myself until the Quest 2 came out. I gave the Lenovo Explorer to one of my friends (he isn’t very into VR, but he still took it), and then after I bought the Quest 3, I gave my Quest 2 to my father. I think this is a good way to get people into VR. How can someone say no to a free VR headset anyway? My dad had many weeks where he would only play VR, which was astonishing to me, to say the least. Also, quick question. I love that avatar of yours! It's very cute. Is it a base model (like Rindo, Manuka, and whatnot) or completely custom-made?
I was one of the adopters of WMR and man, at the time it was amazing!
It had an amazing run and I'm glad I was a part of it.

WMR opened up a lot of memories for me. Good times, I remember buying it with my christmas money.

@@yeanedits thanks! Yeah, sometimes VR is one of those things that people just need to try.
The base for my avatar is Moe
I didn't really know about wmr before now.
thank you Jamie for this video 🙏🏻
I remember looking for a new headset quite a while back and ended up being turned off to wmr due to lack of touch controls, also AHH Mabinogi whiplash
@@LanxerVA Mabinogi always has a place in my heart. Played it all through high school with my classmates
