AlterBridge is such a multi-faceted band. This song is a great example of their ‘heavy-melodic’ rock/metal! Awesome vocals/great guitars and solos/ heavy bass and drums!
It scratches that itch for heavy music, while staying melodic and having a message.

When it comes to the album AB III, there are so many great songs, but the power is listening to the songs on this album in order and hearing the true story. From denial and isolation to the ultimate eventuality to finding the way to cope afterwards. This album came out after my father passed and it truly helped me heal.

Interestingly Alter Bridge played the best gig I have ever had the privilege to attend, at the Royal Albert Hall.
They played 2 nights with a 40 piece orchestra, which elevated all the songs they played including this one to another level.
Can highly recommend you check the album out its incredible man

Really enjoy your deep dives; I resonate a lot with them. I would say that the island analogy seems interesting and I appreciate your point. And yet it seems to me a little simple and don't think I agree with it fully. I think that regardless of the existence of a deity, our evolved moral values to an extent would be generally observed and acted upon. The difference in my mind is that the justifications or theories of how they came to be would be much different depending on the island (the atheistic island or the theistic one) and not necessarily the beliefs themselves. I would say to your point that may be the theistic island would feel more compelled to uphold them because of their belief of the origins of those said beliefs. Would have to think about this further. though. Thanks for the thought provoking content.

How did you listen to this song and not comment on Mark Tremonti's contribution on vocals and guitar and the banging bassline provided by Brian Marshall? AB is so much more than Myles Kennedy as most seem too think. Ironic really given how AB was formed with Myles being asked to join.
