    Its about a man questioning his faith and the struggles with it and closing off from everyone and entering that dark place (The Void) The whole album is struggles with faith, but also has silver lining songs as well. Its my favorite album. Full of bangers!

      They kinda dropped the ball on what could have been an extremely interesting discussion about this topic. Could have a been a jem as far as reactions are concerned
      That being said they have great taste. 9s all around 😁

      They may have a more Creed feel to the first album, but once Myles started writing the songs and playing guitar, the Creed comparison dies. This is Alter Bridge.

    Alter bridge doesn’t do cheesy love songs and never NEVER ever they have the “rockstar” persona. They are down to earth musicians. And this song is about faith, this album is all’s about faith. Maybe not the best songs but lyrically very powerful songs.

    • @jarce5150
      @jarce5150 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It is really about struggling with faith, as is most of the record. I believe it stemmed from mark and myles having debates on their beliefs.

    • @aybarskokmen8884
      @aybarskokmen8884 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jarce5150 yes exactly, Myles is a agnostic. He grew up in a religious environment his father was a pastor. When he was ill he refused treatment. Words darker than their wings is a great example which was actually based on their conversation about faith. Myles parts suggest that he wants to believe but he can’t because of the on going things in the world, on the other hand mark believes, acknowledges that everything is for a reason. At least this is my interpretation. But the only fact is that these are amazing musicians

    You guys should show Myle's and Mark's solo stuff some love too (I know I've seen Sori rock the Tremonti shirt a few times)
    As for "Slip To The Void"... I think the song isn't about a specific person in his life, but more about just turning away from love and happiness as a whole in life... Embracing darkness and isolation to the end of "dying with nothing you can hold".

    Alter bridge has a handful of poppy songs. Most of their stuff walks the fine line between hard rock and metal. And most of it has serious and or dark content. Or perseverance and words of inspiration

    One more thing. I fully believe that Mark had to have listened to a lot of RUSH, back in our day. Their styles are similar, TO A POINT. But there is no denying the skip step tempo that Flip goes to quite often in drumming which leads much of the transitioning that "AB" is absolutely known for doing, doing perfectly and with such ease. Plus the Lyricism.... its uncanny to say the least, if Mark didn't listen to RUSH back then. Those similarities is what brought Creed to my attention, and resulted in me being a die hard, extremely loyal fan. I absolutely LOVE what Mark's vision of the band has become. I will go to my grave.... ROCKIN' IT REAL with AB!!

    The song is about Myles disconnecting with religion. From what I could gather his step father was a very religious man that tried to instill faith in Myles but as he got older he began to question it which led him to disconnect. "Crawl to the light you shouldn't know, you should never come this way, to test the hands of fate, you don't belong here" all pertains how he was conflicted. Though he felt wrong for questioning religion he still couldn't shake its inconsistencies that he found while practicing it. "You were once led to believe, you were young and so naive but now no longer" is another example of that. "Left to die with nothing you can hold" no afterlife. And when he says the moment you let love go, he means the love for God since religion preaches love. This song is difficult to understand at first listen because there is many changing viewpoints throughout the song. It seems like the beginning is Myles in his early years doubting but not knowing why, then the main verse kicks in and he's passed the stage where he doesn't believe in religion anymore, and the chorus and bridge seem as though he's at his present self where he still doesn't believe but is now wishing he never "slipped into the void" of not believing in religion because now he wishes he still had it in his life. Maybe that last part isn't right but that's what I get from it

    • @timtam79
      @timtam79 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Love your analysis of this song. Myles' stepfather is a Methodist minister. The album is about Myles losing faith but he loves his stepfather who encouraged him to learn guitar. Listen to the second verse of Cradle to the Grave. Listen to the story of his Hunters Green PRS signature guitar. Look at the surname he uses. Those are all tributes to his stepfather. If you want to know about his birth father, listen to his solo album "Year of the Tiger."

    Alter Bridge are a hard rock band kinda on the post-grunge/alternative metal spectrum. They're the members of Creed but with Myles Kennedy on vocals and second guitar. Myles also has a few albums with Slash from Guns N' Roses. Very talented dude. I know you're familiar with Mark Tremonti on guitar and backing vocals, because the band Tremonti is another band of his. There's a lot of talent in Alter Bridge and you guys will definitely get into them in time.

      there. Song is far darker than I think they are willing to go. They don't want to be such a downer to their viewer's that they stop watching the channel. It doesn't get any darker for a human soul than what this song is about. This is the coup de Gras when discussing worst case scenarios.

    Just a quick background to Alter Bridge....
    They are CREED with a different lead singer.
    Scott Stapp, the lead singer when they were Creed, went down a very dark road into alcoholism. The big reason Creed split up, and why we now have Alter Bridge. Because the band has been my BAND since Creed....I feel like this is a song with Scott in mind. Creed was on the brink of becoming HUGE, when Scott's addiction took him over and he began to...."publicly" make really BAD choices and making public appearances and doing public interviews, where it was obvious he was severely intoxicated. Which began to take its toll on the band as a whole. Not for sure but either Scott's marriage broke or came very very close to breaking. Mark Tremonti and Scott were very close LONG TIME friends. Scott's addiction did its damage to that relationship. Not something either one have been especially public with, which I whole heartedly RESPECT. Mark Tremonti, the lead guitarist is not only the Manager and co-founder of Creed, but also with Alter Bridge, except, Scott (Flip) Phillips, the drummer and Brian Marshall the bassist, chose to follow Mark, when Mark refused to give up on THE BAND. Which they needed a lead singer and they were greatly blessed with Myles walking in to audition. Mark has since the creation of Creed, been the lyricist. Although, since Myles coming in to the mix, with his deep soul, many of the songs now will be collaborations, between Mark and Myles. One thing Mark did change was him being able to expand farther with his shredding genius, which is why Alter Bridge has so powerful and unique riff solos, and really, why when a particular instrument is being soloed, its done so up front, respectfully, and in such a way that the listener couldn't imagine the song being done any other way and that solo was absolutely made for that particular spot in the song. Alter Bridge being a band that cannot be pigeon holed into a genre category, results in them being the MOST UNDERRATED, UNDER PLAYED, UNDERRECOGNIZED BAND IN MUSIC!!
    Most all radio stations do not regularly play their songs, period. Its sad, wrong and very very unfortunate for those out there that can appreciate GOOD MUSIC, NO MATTER THE GENRE!!
    Yall wanna here a good 'ol Stadium Shaking Jam, with an EXCELLENT message.....
    Do a reaction to "FIND THE REAL"! ITS MY ABSOLUTE FAV!?
    This Band is my PEACE!!
    Rock it Real and God Bless!!

    Slip into the void in my opinion is a future event in some random person that died and this is what their being is experiencing, they made conscience decisions to reject every lifeline that was offered to them during their time living. They had to be determined to reject everything that would have saved them, they did this by denying the little voice inside that was telling them to listen ,they might be right but in the end they just shrugged it off and continued on and it was till they died that they realized what they done.
    I do not think that you understood what this song was about. Much much darker than how you allow mistakes d I ring your life turn you into a bitter person.

    100% solid catalog from AB. So many amazing songs with killer vocals and masterful guitar work, IMO. Not sure if your full run format works for doing their live stuff but AB is the best band live. They sound as good at a hard minimum but generally I enjoy their live versions over studio versions. Complete professionals.I also love all their work outside of AB. SMKC is a favorite and Tremonti is awesome as well. Could listen to any of it at any time.
