  • 2021 Dodge Durango SRT 392 Radio Issues
Radio started to have issues with volume on Dec 20, 2022, around 22,700 miles (36,532 km). Went into Dodge Dealership for a factory recall on the radio that was not originally taken care of at the dealership where I purchased the Durango in Ohio, due to the fact that the software and firmware would not update, so they just didn’t fix it but marked it as complete however caught it while signing documents.
Dealership in California said we got this, give us 2 hours to fix the issue. 8 hours later issues could not be resolved and advised me to pick up vehicle. Dealership notified Dodge of issues and new radio was approved under factory warranty. Radio replaced on Dec 30, 2022, at 23,154 miles (37,262 km) has operated without issues thus far. However what is troubling is that the Dodge Dealership said if you start to have any more issues with the radio bring it back because it may happen at some point. Not exactly what I wanted to hear but appreciate them for being so forthright.
I was also advised by a Dodge employee that this is a known issue that Dodge is aware about but refuses to due a full recall to the 10.1” radios. Radios are known to completely stop working, or have minor, moderate or severe issues with touch, audio, responsiveness to controls and even the screen peeling from its housing. If your radio is still under warranty watch for this issues.

Hopefully you guys have better luck. We have a 2022 Citadel, and the HK 19 Speaker system, and we are possibly going to be on our 5th radio. Normally starts out with the volume controls ceasing to function, steering wheel controls won't work, bluetooth is spotty, then fails. On top of all this, they have had our dash torn apart so many times, and broken retaining clips, etc. We have had it back to the dealership multiple times to repair the dash they damaged. Contacted Dodge Customer Service and basically they were like "we sorry", but offered no help. Radios not working, aren't covered under Lemon Laws in most states, including Indiana. So it's not covered under the Chrysler Buyback program. I told the service manager to get used to seeing our truck for the next 14 months of our lease. I personally think there is something else frying the radios, but they just keep throwing head units at it. I am surprised there hasn't been a Class Action suit against them for this issue.

I’m having connection issues with my Bluetooth and may have to replace the radio after looking at your video

As long as it’s before the 36,000 mile warranty you can replace it, and get it replaced as much as possible before that time. After the last install before the 36,000 mile warranty, you have a 2 year warranty with the last radio.

21’ Durango rt here with 41k miles out of basic warranty dealership wanted $300 just to diagnose that it is not working. Story starts with me just starting my car about a week ago and it had no sound for anything am/fm, Bluetooth, phone calls but the screen still works. I’ve done many radio resets in the past and that has solved the other glitches it has had. This time around no fix. Idk where to go from here.

Call Dodge customer service and from what a dealership told me, be a Karen and tell them to fix it. They are well aware it’s a known issue.

I have a 21 Durango GT and I get the "Ucoonect box requires severice" Issue on a daily. Was bringing it in to the dealership to get it fixed. They would just connect their ODM thingy to it and clear the codes and call it a fix. It would go away for about a month then come back. Brought it back to the dealership and they would do the same thing. Did this about 6x and finally gave up on bringing it in. Till this day it continues to happen. I bought this vehicle back in February of this year used with only 40,000 kilometer on it. I currently have 53,XXX kilometers on it. I was documenting everytime also when I got the issue. I just hit the X button and it takes me back to my radio. It comes back sometimes once a day or twice or even 3,4 or 5 times in a day. So annoying.

Go to the dealership and demand a radio replacement before 57937 kilometers. Also request a copy of your service record which they have to give you. Dodge is aware of the issue and will replace it. If you replace if before that mark, Dodge guarantees a 2 year defect free radio. If it fails again after your vehicle passed the 57937 kilometers, take it back to the dealership and they have to replace it free of charge.

This is a common issue with any vehicle that has the 10.1 UConnect 5. Dodge knows of the issues but doesn’t seem to give a crap. Instead will replace the radios until 36K miles and anything after that is your problem to deal with.

I’m looking into a 21 srt durango but after seeing your issue with having to replace the radio 3 times I’m nervous. I’ve read a lot of comments from other people complaining about the same issue. What are your thoughts to someone wanting to purchase the same 21 srt Durango

This is why im looking into a 2019 or 2020 durango srt the old unconnect doesnt have that much music no sound issues, i love my 22 RT durango with the HK sound system but these new systems are fucked and they shouldve done testing before sending them out to the dealers

Definitely not gonna do that but I’m now gonna be on my 3rd radio at 32,000 miles. They definitely should of done a more in-depth testing on the UConnect 5 as this thing is amazing but garbage at the same time! If it’s not fixed I might just go lemon law.
