I just completed this upgrade and also broke one of the plastic clips away from the bezel. Thanks for the JB Kwik tip, which worked great to repair the clip. The new unit is great for my 2017!

From what I've researched, you cannot go aftermarket with the Chargers & Challengers. I'm still trying to figure out how to wire in a 6 channel amp...

A little late to the party. I just acquired a 2006 Magnum SRT8 and stumbled on to your channel because the radio from the interior was gutted by the previous owner and and I'm trying to get it back to stock. Although it's way older then your Challenger an a different beast, you post a lot of good information that I can use. Mostly that up until a total model change not many changes from year to year with interiors and wiring. good stuff to know. Your garage and set-up are awesome! I only wish I could have my garage as organized as yours! LOL!

Do you still have your Uconnect features? Like in the app being able to remote start and lock your doors via the app?
Did you have to pay to subscribe to UConnect or transfer your service? I don't have any service I'm in a 2015 JGC SRT.

I’d be more excited, but 17 Charger RT never had the performance pages turned on, so it would be a wasted upgrade.

Speedy another awesome video, you can change those gauges to what you want if you click that home at the top and then push and hold on each gauge you can then go through a list and select which one you want at each location, hopefully that helps you

U get track mode ?
There is another difference that separates the hellcats built in 15-16 the intake is smaller and not a cone rather just using the head light and box vs 17 and up srt had the genius idea of switching to map sensors which allowed them to fit a fat intake that is sealed off from the engine bay except integrated the hood as a ram along with the light which is where the 10 hp comes from and by far superior in design. I have a 16 and that was one of the things I’m stuck with. Good video man, thanks for the knowledge. 👍
Yep I'm STUCK with my 10hp less intake too. LOL! Too funny. I feel like I'm at such a disadvantage with my legmaker on my 2016 making 17lbs boost. Maybe I should trade up.😵💫 I don't have the widebody either. So I'm missing out on the extra weight that option provides too. Maybe I should ditch my Forgeline GA3's for some heavy stock widebody wheels and stick on some plastic flares. I feel like I'm missing out
2017 did not see a 10 hp increase. It wasnt until the new hoods came out.
@@johnpuli7502 yeah no I was incorrect meant to say 19 when they started coming out with 717hp. The hood looks the same just the snorkeling is different on the underside pairs with the new intake design utilizing the hood and the light hole as a ram air.
@@mikew6135 can’t tell if your being serious or sarcastic? Either way I have the same thing going on with my hellcat no wide body no newer style intake and a maf. You have got a point the rims do weigh more and so does the flair. Also lose a bit of aerodynamics pushing air. Yeah can’t see doing a switch for that now maybe a redeye only for the bigger blower but that’s nothing after market can’t solve and better. Of course redeye have stronger components as well such as drive shaft, half shafts and axles, even the block has better cooling but the regular 717 hellcat is not really better or worth the exchange to make that happen in my opinion.

Nice little upgrade. I had my 20 Redeye for 2 whole months before I figured out how to load up different gauges on one page.
When on the Performance Pages, select Home button and you can edit 4 gauges to display on Home.
Touch the upper left of each gauge to select what you want for each one. There is a small rectangle with a line through it on each corner maybe a edit logo??

Great tutorial! Did this with my 2016 scat pack; my features popped up pretty quickly though (almost instantly/a couple minutes).

I've got a 2015 Charger SXT Plus. I've seen the part where you say that it might not work with 2015 Challenger unless changing some parts :/ . Awesome video by the way I learned really really alot of stuff! I want to get Apple Car play in my car as it feels easier than navigation and not as outdated. But seems I can't 😔
Nice video. I have a 2020 Uconnect in my 2016. Just an FYI, my understanding is the BCM is part of the puzzle but the car needs satillite
Does your IC Coolant Temp gauge work? I've learned it's a known problem and there's a TSB on it.
@@SpeedysGarage so it didn’t at first, but it does now. In my case I think the sensor connector wasn’t plugged in all the way. I have a whipple 4.5 and the wire was stretched on the install.
Are you able to still use the Uconnect app for remote start?
To switch the gauges, press and drag them.

My I/C Coolant temp is doing the exact same thing. No idea why. I was told to do a few key cycles (power on and off, in a sense), but it didnt change over the course of 3 weeks.
Awsome video bro to bad we couldn’t get the electric steering option the new hellcats come with it. I had a SRT 392 that had it I like it.
I've wondered if electric PS is a possible swap, but I doubt it since the computer controls steering feedback based on drive mode.

Awesome vid.. I have a 2017 Hellcat Challenger and my screen has recently started to delaminate at a fast pace, I was just going to purchase a new screen and swap it but after seeing this I’d rather go the same route, is it really just plug N play? I’m tuned with Diablo if it makes any difference since you said you have aftermarket PCM as well.
One thing to note. Those small plugs on the back of the radio unit can be a pain to take off sometimes. If you try to force it it will break the piece off of the radio. This isn't bad if the old radio is bad or won't use it again but if you want to keep it as a back up be careful 👍
These were like push lock type connectors. Once unlocked they came off pretty easy, but I would agree to be careful.
What's parts number again didn't see in description and do you think will work for 2016 Challenger scat?
H-K sound was standard thru 2018.
I have a '15. Some of the features still haven't been solved yet by the new uConnect software.
Maybe I missed it but can you still use the Connect app to start, stop, lock features and tracking after the swap?

Did you get line locks with the upgraded uconnect or is that a bcm thing? I didn't see it in your srt pages.
Now, I noticed that your screen did not delaminate. I have a 2018 and the screen of mine delaminated, I'm sure you have heard of this. Just so you know, I got a brand new radio out of warranty with a " good faith replacement" through Dodge. I spent a bit of time emailing them and getting my ducks in a row, but I got a new radio for free. Just an fyi. Also, if you would have just waited, all of that would have come back eventually. I think it has something to do with number of key cycles and key being away from the car.
Yep, aware of that. "Supposedly" new screens do not have that problem. Fingers crossed.
My 17 Scat Pack had car play but the 17 SRT Grand Cherokee that I just traded for doesn’t.

Ok, you bought the uconnect 8.4 brand new. So you typically see a year radio for compatibility.
Did you put in 2022 Hellcat?? Or 2019 RT, or what? I would assume you didn't look for 2016.

Excellent video nice upgrade , does the sound system improves its quality? do you know if in the drive mode page the displayed car can be changed from N/A to supercharged?
I didn't notice a sound quality difference, but I did notice "HD" shows up by channels. Can't remember if the old one did that or not. Drive mode on this one is a supercharged car on mine.

I’ve changed the BCM TO 2016 and the radio to 2018
Everything works perfectly except park sensors and the airbag lights turns on
So I checked the vehicle the configuration was mismatch between BCM AND ORC
ANYONE has an idea to fix the issue

Hey Speedy ..love the very informative video .I myself have a 2016 Scat pack Shaker and i've been looking to upgrade my radio for a LOOOONG time but was too afraid to attempt it fearing it wasn't compatible and would screw every thing up ..very expensive mistake to make lol....but you inspired me to pull the trigger and do it ... just one thing i didn't see you test the USB ports.. i mostly play my music on USB flash drive sticks with MP3s that i down load off my computer ..that would be a deal breaker for me if they didn't respond ...AND ..my current radio doesn't load any of my music past what my 32GB sticks hold is there a limit ?? i've got thousands more MP3s loaded on my 64GB and 128GB usb sticks ...IF you or ANYBODY out there knows if the newer radio will load this capacity of MP3s the info will be greatly appreciated ..i'm sure i'm not the only one out there with this question/dilemma .hopefully some one will test it and find out and answer back ..SPEEDY thanks again for the video and keep em coming ..you just got yourself a new SUBSCRIBER

Hey man I have an off subject question for you. Been watching you for a while, how do you keep your Throttle body and other rough aluminum under hood parts looking clean and with out or remove the oxidation? My HC is a 15 and want to keep them looking new too. Little help if you don’t mind.
It's not very salty around here so I've not had any issues. If I did I'd use an aluminum polish on them once a month or so to keep it at bay.
Awesome video. Do you know if the cellular connection is working? My '16 uses 3G and since that's been decommissioned, it no longer works. Does the new head unit give you 4G cellular connectivity to run the apps and remote start etc....?

I have an 18 charger hellcat & my GPS went bad....replaced the radio & my ic temp doesn't work on the srt pages either....maybe you can figure out how to get it back....love all your vids....
I've learned there's a TSB on this issue but Dodge hasn't resolved it yet: TSB s2108000219
My GPS went bad on my 17 Challenger. It required a new head unit. Luckily it was a warranty so no charge
Do you like the new gauges? I kinda miss my old style round gauges in my gomango 2016
I like them for something "different" but it was really 6 of one half dozen of the other. The main improvement for me is the much faster response of the new unit and improved graphics.
@@SpeedysGarage it is faster and I do like you can use the chiller feature without being in track mode.

see my issue is i need to know if this works for a 2015 r/t because im looking to do the same thing, but dont wanna spend all the money just to have all my features disabled , heated cooled seats heated steering wheel etc
Yup, really works regardless of trim level since the configuration of the Uconnect System is stored in the Body Control Module. So as the radio updates for the first time, only the features that came with the vehicle will be installed. So you wouldn't get say, Preformance Pages, unless you already had them originally installed.
If you are looking to "add" features that didn't originally come with the vehicle, you can buy a device called the "TAZER" which will allow you to add features such as Preformance Pages and Line Lock, plus literally dozens more, without voiding your warranty and is completely reversible. They sell for $250 and I have never had a problem with either one that I have purchased
Part numbers? Did the launch control or IC temp issue resolve itself? Did the hp power indicator change from default 707 to the actual tuned hp numbers? Do you use SiriusXM, any issues with your subscription(s)? Do you have the UConnect app subscription, if so, were you able to retain veh locator, lock/unlock, remote start functions?
There's a TSB for the IC Temp issue: s2108000219. Launch control is stuck at 1000 RPM, but I tested it and mine went to around 1500 which is where I had it set before removing the old radio. AlphaOBD may be a solution, I'll have to look in to it.

It's a software update, will just magically show up one day I reckon.
