- In this video I install the UAX 12" touchscreen in my 2020 Ram Rebel using the turn key kit from Infotainment.com. The kit includes everything you need to upgrade your factory 5" or 8.4" screen to the UAX kit which is the massive 12" screen. This systems runs Uconnect 4 and has wired Apple CarPlay.

The overall installation is VERY easy and the end product is a huge upgrade for the interior of the Ram. Be careful with trim panels and take your time unsnapping the existing console so you do not snap trim tabs or scratch your interior. USE A TOWEL TO PROTECT YOUR CENTER CONSOLE!

Very good instruction! I'm glad I went with the 12" when I bought my Laramie because I don't think I would have the patience you clearly have to do a DIY. 👍🏾👍🏾
WF41, Great straight forward video. I have the 12" in my 21 Rebel, but enjoy your videos, so decided to see how easy the swap was. I highly recommend you get a matte screen protector from the OCD Plug. You won't regret the purchase. You will never have fingerprints. I had a regular Mopar screen protector on it and didn't like it. Anyway, wanted to suggest the screen protector and maybe another video topic.

@@5555-r9i the $800 unit is a cheap android tablet. You lose features by using those tablets.
What is the difference between the OEM 12 inch vs this 12 inch dispaly
Aftermarket is an android based tablet which is why it’s so much cheaper. Install is quite a bit more intensive. With some of the cheaper options you lose features. Also if you wear polarized sunglasses the cheaper screens are harder to see.
Most folks who install the cheaper aftermarket ones end up replacing them after a few months when the novelty wears off and they realized they sacrificed quality/features by going the cheaper route.
If I have the cooled seats, can they add that to the programmer to have it on the infotainment? Awesome tutorial btw.

Hey I upgraded my 8.4 to 22 12" screen. I notice that my number 2 and 3 USB ports no longer gets recognized and doesn't play my thumb drive music anymore. Only the number 1 does that. The rest only do charging. Any suggestions why?

Can you keep the remote services? Like lock unlock doors from your phone? See the tire pressure and location of truck on your Ram app?

I have screen & module, how can I make that work? I tired putting it in my truck and lost certain functions as far as tailgate power and volume knob doesn’t work! Anyway I can buy just the programming if that’s what I need?

I need a similar upgrade…however it’s for my 2016 dodge charger. Comes with the older system that doesn’t have android auto and Apple car play. Just seems a little pricy for me (going from ra3 to ra4 8.4” screen). For you, that’s a bigger upgrade.

It’s a kit from infotainment. For me it was more practical to buy a turn key kit than trying to piecemeal everything together.

@@WaterFowler41 No worries, I'm sure it's not an issue otherwise the company selling the package would have mentioned it. Awesome upgrade, convinced me to do it. I have the 8.4 NAV, so the glossy bezel which makes the screen seem bigger, but after seeing the 12", I have to do it :)

How would I program the old radio back if I wanted to sell the truck?
You would need to head back to Ram for that, I would just sell the old radio and get what you can get for it.
It looks like you know what you are doing. Maybe you can help me out. I have a 2023 Ram 1500 Longhorn. I cannot figure out why the buttons around the infotainment screen and the steering wheel buttons are not lit during the day. Do you have or is there a way to get these buttons to be lit during the day?
Maybe your dim switch for the dash is turned all the way up. Is the cluster and radio really bright at night?
I purchased the 12" screen and brain from a wrecked Ram. Can the programming software be purchased separately? I have the radio in, but it won't come on.

How did you get it programmed? I currently have screen and brain.
I found one for 600$ I spent an extra 99 for the bypass and 65$ for the extra 2 cables that you need online and since I didn’t know the anti theft code I spend another 10$ to get it

2017 Dodge Ram got V6 in it. I want to upgrade my radio so I can have the map finder
I’m not sure. My video is only applicable to 2019+ 5th gen rams
Also, how long did it take for your back up camera to function?
Immediately but I’ve heard it can take a few hours of driving for all the functions to work
Did u have the nav in the 8.4? If not do u have it in the 12 now?
I did not but now I do. I love having the factory nav on full screen while I drive. Helps to be able to see the roads around me

Thanks! Keep in mind quality isn’t cheap and cheap isn’t quality. A lot of parameters in these trucks are controlled through these radios so not something I’d suggest cutting corners on.

Your trucks will need to be programmed to accept the new radios and all the new features.

Why did you go from the UAX to the UBQ so quickly ? That's a lot of money. Do you work for infotainment and get them free or what?
I have to keep fresh content on the channel and I know the uc4 to uc5 is a popular project so it was worth the $$ to upgrade. More content = happy viewers!

Yes with uconnect4 it had wired CarPlay. Ram just repressed uconnect5 which has wireless CarPlay
I put the 8.4 Uconnect 5 in my 2020 but I lost my zoom for the hitch 😢. Love the wireless CarPlay though which is why I made the change.

Yet this is one of the most popular interior upgrades in the forums. It’s not for ballers on a budget like yourself but many folks upgrade to the larger screen especially those that have the factory 5” screens.

@WaterFowler41 not about budget. It's the fact that it costs more than the entire level B package from dodge which includes the screen and HK stereo system and way more... for $4k it should include a whole new speaker and amp setup
If you can do it cheaper with factory parts go for it but I’m not sure it’s possible
