Like you, we have seen this as an issue, even when doing large construction jobs with the Mavic 3 Pro. The way we've work around this is by using more waypoints, tighter together. Per-say, if trying to do a 90-degree turn, instead of using three waypoints, we'd use 6 closer together and closely specify the direction.
You think this is a good newby drone? Seriously leaning towards this one as my 1st. Will be doing a lot of outdoor stuff. I also like finding old cars. They are an old car close to the house. I would love to take a drove up there and film it to see exactly what it is and what kinda shape it is. This would be incredible to use when finding old cars that’s in fields or in barns in fields. I’m in Tennessee in the rural part. Idk what exactly laws they are but I would assume they are minor compared to other states. I’ll check on that.
If you have the budget for it, the Mini 4 Pro is a great newbie drone. One of the main reasons for this is the 360-degrees of obstacle avoidance. Although that shouldn't be relied on entirely, it really helps those new to flying keep from flying into things. If the Mini 4 Pro price tag is a bit too high, the Mini 3 Pro is also excellent, although it lacks the upward and side sensors. Regarding drone laws, the blanket ones across the US are flying 400ft and under, don't fly through clouds (including fog), keep the drone within line of sight, and equip the drone with lights that can be seen for 3 miles if flying at night. Sadly, local municipalities oftentimes have their own "laws", but those are not recognized FAA laws, as the FAA governs the airspace.
It was also my first drone and I don't regret it. Obstacle avoidance shouldn't be completely relied upon though. I also bought 2 $30-40 non GPS drones for indoor flying. The toy ones drift a bit but this actually makes them really good for practicing the controls and developing orientation awareness. They have been hugely helpful.
That was a very comprehensive video and I look forward to trying it out soon. However, it can't (the mission) be created in advance without having the drone, controller and everything else turned on. I really miss using Litchi which was (in my opinion) a superior solution, given that you could virtually fly the mission to check for mistakes and create the mission in Google Earth. You could export and import saved missions and share missions with your buddies. Do you think that DJI will continue to improve this feature, or do you get the impression that they have done as much as they are going to? Again, very nice video.
Thank you, glad you liked it. We miss Litchi as well. Being able to create flight plans on a computer without having the drone nearby was great. With our Mavic 3 Pros, we oftentimes use waypoint map dot com to map out missions. You might find their service (free) beneficial.
My older DJI drone fleet has covered over 3,000 miles of fully autonomous waypoint missions using Litchi. With Litchi one need not even own a drone to create and save waypoint flight plans using the Litchi Mission Hub waypoint feature that is available free online. I have two questions. First, is this the DJI Fly app that you are using, or is it the newer DJI Pilot app? Secondly, can one create and save waypoint missions in the DJI app without needing any drone to be connected or powered up during that flight planning process? I ask these questions because I am toying with the idea of buying a Mavic Air 3 or Mavic 3 Classic as a camera upgrade over my older drones, BUT, I do want to be sure I can create waypoint flight plans and save them online without having a drone powered up since I don't actually own a newer DJI drone yet, other than a Mini 3 that I bought before realizing that it would never be waypoint capable.
Great questions! We too used to use Litchi. However, once moving up to the Mavic 3 Pro for commercial projects, we have had to rely on the DJI Fly app. You CAN do waypoints without having to be on location, but we've only done it on the Air 3 and Mavic 3 Pro while physically in our possession. We have always done it with the RCs and drones on, however, a member here mentioned it can be done without the drone being on. We have yet t try that, or even try it using an RC-N2 with cell phone combination.
Is there a way to enter a waypoint using gps coordinates?
When more way point is created , the control becomes heavy during processing. You can find out the reason
Is there a way to change the curve the drone makes when going from point to point? Like a more direct route? Or a more curved route?

@ awesome idea!! I was thinking the same thing. Just haven’t tried it yet much appreciated. Have subscribed and liked!
lol have to make many waypoints

How to delete old waypoint missions?
If you have any specific questions for us at Droneblog, please ask us in our community at DronePilots.com/
Hasn't anyone figured out yet how to add a new waypoint before/between existing waypoints? Just like with Mavic 2.
