Chris, one of the biggest reasons why most people like watching even though they don’t do anything with fires or firewood is you have an awesome personality. 😎

The reason the CS590 is such a good saw, once Echo group bought out Shindaiwa, they rebranded the Shindaiwa 600sx, as the CS590, Japanese made pro saw, full aluminium crankcase, full crankshaft, no plastic engine parts like Stihl Farmboss etc. and the anti vibe on these are great! I love mine, so it cutting 32” hardwood on my channel.

I own both saws. 590 and 271. My 590 starts fast, cuts fast. Over all a better quicker saw over the 271. My 590 is always the first one out of the truck too cut. If anyone is reading this comment. Consider buying this saw. It’s a great buy. You won’t be disappointed. The crazy thing is that the 271 and 590 is at the same price point. So you know what your buying around $400. 590 is a monster

So that's a good reason to compare the two saws. I was wondering why anyone would compare a pro saw to a regular consumer grade saw. I never really check out anything but pro saws, to get the better design and build quality they have. So I didn't know they cost about the same price.
Thanks for mentioning the basic cost they both share. I'd choose the Echo too, between those two saws. 😎👍

Same reasons i switched from Stihl to Echo. I've had a Echo weedeater for 17 years. I've never changed the plug, I leave fuel in it from year to year, treat it like crap and it's never failed me...starts first 3 pull every time. I now own the Echo cs-490 and cs-620 Amazing equipment!!!

I have done several reviews of Echo power products on my channel including chainsaws and trimmers. I have been beyond impressed! The value for the price is without comparison. They truly have entered into the race with Husqvarna and Stihl especially with their "X" series which is their professional line. My only complaint is they tend to come out of the factory tuned a little too lean. Great video! 👍

I own 2 Stihls, and 1 Husqvarna, and my father-in-law has an Echo (I've also got a Makita, a Homelite, a Ryobi and an Ozito, all of them 2 stroke). For what it's worth, if I had to choose one to keep and never go back, it would be the Echo, and it's not even mine! Throttles up hard, dogs in nicely, easy to clean, and just seems to want to keep going, even when I don't. If you ever see one on special, buy one to be your second string saw - best bargain you'll score in a fair while. 👍🇦🇺🙂

The cs-590 is not marketed as a pro saw even though it basically is with removable cylinder head, adjustable oiler, and decomp valve. It's considered a farm and ranch saw. The cs-620p is the pro version of this saw with the main differences being the aluminum wrap handle, cylinder and 2 ring piston, carb, advanced timing, and higher rpm coil. With a few mods the cs-590 is a ripper, i have two heavily modified cs-590s and love them. You won't find a better new saw for the money.

I must make a confession Chris. I recently purchased an Echo CS-680. It is considered to be in the 70cc series along with the 572 Husky saws. I do like it. I bought it used from a guy who said it was too much saw for him. Got it for $350. I am not ready to replace the 572's with this unit but it seems to be a good saw. The Husky has a little more power as it is a little larger saw. The auto-tune is a little advantageous as well. However, for the difference in price [new ~$700] versus the Husky 572 [new ~$1100] it is worth considering for some people. Just my 2 cents worth.

I recently purchased a Echo CS 590 and I am very impressed. The first thing I used it for was bucking some red oak that was 18-22" and about 40' long. With the 20", I had to double cut the thickest pieces, but it handled the tough oak with ease. It should get better with a few more tanks of gas. Down here they retail for $399 with a 20" bar. Better performance than the Stihl Farm Boss or Husqvarna Rancher at a better price. Longevity seems to be good too, but we'll see. I was also surprised at no gloves. If I only have one piece of PPE, it's my gloves. To each his (or her) own.

My Echo CS-590 is a great running saw! Once broke-in, it runs really well for what it is. In my opinion, it has more torque than the Stihl or Husqvarna equivalent, which allows it to run a 24in bar better. Would love to do a side-by-side speed test with Michele's 271 and my 550xp. Maybe one day a bunch of us woodhounds can get together at Chris's woodyard and speed test our saws in a nice collaboration video. So, I would recommend those who cut a lot and can invest in their tools, give the pro series saws a try to see what gains in power and productivity they offer. I told you Echo's were no joke lol. If your serious about Echo, jump to the CS620P, its still a 59cc saw but built a bit more for commercial use with aluminum handle, Magnesium crankcase cover and the sprocket is replaceable and my dealer said the piston and airflow are different but that could have been him blowing smoke, lol. One of the best things is the price...a 620P is about half the price of a Husquvarna or Sthil. If you end up with an Echo 590 or 620P one thing you want to do is buy a set of o rings and put the right size on the air filter nub that goes into the carb area, the air filter is really good but I guess you can get some finer dust going by it.

The CS-590 Timber wolf is not their pro saw, in that size the pro saw is a CS-620P. It has a bigger carb and unlimited coil. However you can greatly improve the CS-590 with a 10 minute muffler mod. That said the CS-590 is the best under $500 saw out there. You can still get them with bar and chain for around $400. The CS-62P has about 25% more power but couple hundred bucks more. P.S. you can buy after market spikes for the CS-590 you just have to Dremel out the small plastic and then you can run felling spikes from both sides.

Nice to see the Echo and Stihl in action, thank you.
One can only compare/contrast what's at hand.
Just checked prices on Australian Stihl and Echo web sites
    Stihl MS 271, 50.2cc, $999 Au
    Echo CS-590, *59.8cc, $1,449 Au*
Key variables not controlled = unfair comparison.
A practically perfect price and cc match to the Echo CS-590 for comparison is:
    Stihl MS 311, *59cc, $1,449 Au*
Key variables matching nicely = fair test design
    Also:
    HUSQVARNA 460, *60.3cc, $1,439 Au*
Would match/control these prime variables for a fair comparison.
I like to see vids comparing price and cc matched chainsaws, in same wood with same cutter and with chain freshly sharpened and raker matched i.e. variables considered well. Honest and competent information (with well designed and implemented tests) is rare on YT and could be a stand out. Would you consider pre-planning and putting some in with the full power of your competence and professionalism?
    sincerely

Good ideas ... I though so but on second thought ... not so good unless well thought out.
There are a lot of such attempts and most fail on YT because many are looking for a winner or meaningful results ... and they just can't be given unless you use such a thing to show the really meaningful result, which is not what most are looking for!
Some videos become YT benchmarks, standards that are referred to.
e.g. YT vids of how much does a cord of wood weigh, do one or two names/channels come to mind?
It might be possible to make a series of little benchmarks that become a solid benchmark and set your channel up as a standard setter in this way but more so than the cord of wood example. The initial objective would be to do a series of well designed, controlled tests on price and cc matched saws *always with the same/similar test conditions.* I think you could do this well.
I have some more thoughts on how to go about this solidly, simply and effectively. If you're interested it could become a little world changer because it's mostly not the saw - it's the man/woman.
      sincerely
      david

I have found out over the years,,
if you can cut from the bottom up ,, the blade stays cooler ,,, it cleans out better ,,, using the top part of the bar the chain stays oiled better ,, it cleans the saw dust out good and you don't have to run your saw at such a HIGH RPM...

Good Morning Chris - Hey, do we hear an Echo in the woodyard? I like Michelle. Not a lot of words, but a person that knows what they like, and Michelle is comfortable in the Woodyard. Your reviews of other equipment have value since you can compare them to your regular saws. Your comments carry weight and you clearly state what you do or don't like and why. Right off the bat, I thought that magnet mounted width gauge would be in the way, and it was. but with the longer bars, one seldom needs to bring the saw that close in, especially when you are bending over or reaching into the pile. I subscribed to Michelle's channel.

Good mornig there woodchucking Chris, when you first started chucking those rounds, I thought for sure you were going to take out your tripod, lol. Great comparison between the two. I have had the echo cs590 since spring and love it. I also have the good ole stihl 066 with 36" bar for huge stuff and couple older homelite xl's for trim saws. IMO, this is not exactly a fair comparison. A 60cc Echo with a pro chain vs a 50cc Stihl with a safety chain. I'm an Echo fanboy, but I also think Stihls are good saws too. BTW, my main saw is a CS-590 (which is probably why this video popped up in my feed). I DO like the fact that the 60cc Echo has less vibration than a 50cc Stihl. I also like that the Echo is cheaper too, at least around here. Hard to beat the value of the Echo.
