      @@QueTheChaotic I have encountered worse dealer service managers:
      Years ago I bought a new 91 VW Westy from Livonia VW Mazda. It had 23 defects including a bent rim, bent rotor, bad CV joint and a bent air conditioning shaft because it was dropped on the assembly line. The worst problem was a loose fuel pickup tube in the gas tank that would cause the engine to repeatedly die. After spending most of its first two years at said dealership not being repaired, the VW factory representative told me that VW would rather lose you as a customer than fix your car...
      When I took it to Howard Cooper VW in Ann Arbor [under the previous ownership] for the federally mandated recall for the injection system, when I first when I drove it home, I found that there was about two quarts of gasoline in the oil. When I brought it back, they charged me close to a grand for a "major tuneup" on a car with less than a thousand miles on it. When I contested that as it was a federally mandated free emissions recall, all of a sudden, the car wouldn't be ready until after the weekend. Which gave the service manager time to smear a tube of CV joint grease all over the interior. He also messed with all the engine wiring clips so that wires would come loose every so often. I learned about the wiring the hard way in a national forest recreation area, as it took me almost two weeks to get the car running, with my only option being abandoning it as I didn't have thousands for the tow...
      A friend who was also a mechanic told me that his friend worked at Howard Cooper and that none of the mechanics damaged my car, it was their service manager. Keep in mind that this was before the lemon law in Michigan and the Secretary of State wasn't addressing fraud by auto service garages. At one point a salesman at Howard Cooper tried to buy my, like new, camper for two grand. The last cash offer I had for it was $45k...
      Be glad there are internet channels like TH-cam to expose this shit. Also be glad that you are a brother, because businesses often treat natives and halfbreeds like me even worse. As if you are not a member of a Federally Recognized Nation, there are no groups like the NAACP for violating our rights...

    @mrspencer72 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

    Now, that's how a dealership is supposed to treat its customers. They went above and beyond and fixed the minor things that might have gone unnoticed. Your bumper fitment is actually pretty good now. Sometimes they do come from the factory slightly misaligned,and if you're the type who notices those details, it can be a headache. Once you remove the bumper, and if you're not careful when putting it back on, that misalignment can occur, which is the case with Acura of Troy. All in all I'm glad you got great treatment and hopefully it restores your faith in dealerships. Trust me there are some techs out there who still pride themselves in what they do, and will treat you car as it were their own.

I know there is a fire safety recall happening to Kia Stingers for most model years till 2022 for the turbo oil feed that might get damaged and leak. The amount of nightmare stories I read are just unbelievable. From having engine taken out completely with parts missing, parts broken, coolant leaking from not flushing it to engine overheating leaving dealership. Just so sad that in 2024 we are dealing simply with people who are absolutely incompetent and can't do a simple job correctly. Just looking at those pictures of that staff makes me shake my head. TERRIBLE PEOPLE. That service manger should be fired. Can't treat people like that.

    I have a 2016 MX-5 Club soft top with the Brembo / BBS . I bought Race Ramps to raise it up enough to get my old Craftsman hydraulic jack on that front cross member. Then I use jack stands & I'll put them on the back for seasonal wheel / tire rotation changes. I'm in a 4 season upper Midwest area so I put the winter tires on when it gets real cold. Do all my oil changes & have a Fumoto oil valve with the clear plastic hose to make it easier. Did the transmission oil change at about 27,000 miles with the Harbor Freight oil pump. For some things like the TSB for the Power Plant Frame creak noise or a brake fluid change I'll go to the Mazda dealer.
    I know the Service Advisor at the local Mazda dealer. When I took that PPF TSB printed out at 1st they tried to brush it off but I insisted they do it. It worked & no creak anymore on hard acceleration. They also do like a 30 point check list / brakes / fluids / battery etc. They know me there sometimes they are straight. Other times I have to be insistent. Also like to see the Technicians names who work on my car. I go over what they do & they know it.

    Happy that you found a dealer that was good to you. A lot of these dealers are just horrible from sales to service but glad to see there are actual good ones like your experience.
    I bought a Honda brand new almost 4 years ago at a dealer that ripped me off with illegal tactics. I still took the vehicle but I put poor ratings everywhere from Edmund’s, to Google, to yelp, and the better business bureau.
    I have my car serviced at another Honda Dealership that was thirsty to purchase my car from me and trade me into a newer lower trim Honda which every time I decline the trade so far I am side eyeing them with the service. So far their service has been good and haven’t beaten me over the head with up charge. I did leave that this dealership has been heavily fined by the FTC for illegal stacking of a car sale with dealership fees and add ons without the customer knowing. Another one dealer was fined millions for racist financing.
    With all of that while I love Hondas (Civic), I think this will be my first and last Honda due to awful dealerships, quality control of the vehicles coming out of their factories, Honda’s quality is dipping, recalls left and right, and unfortunately in my area thieves love them. I could change my mind down the road though.

    Looking at your misalignment issue it looks like if you somehow lifted the front center area if the bumper cover will help align the sides where the hood fender and front bumper cover meet. Have the dealership bodyshop take another look at it.

  • @norml5586
    @norml5586 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Just about all acuras and hondas that have the new style bumper have or will have issues with the bumper lining up correctly to the hood at some point. The clip that holds the bumper in place there isn't all that good. If I remember correctly there should be a bolt or screw on the inside of the fender where it meets the bumper, the best you can do is try to loosen it some and then re-tighten it while you or a second set of hands holds the bumper in place. I work at a body shop and these bumpers tend to be a little bit of a pain to line up with the hood if the clip doesn't wanna hold, especially when we're dealing with aftermarket parts, though that shouldn't be an issue in your case.

    Ann Arbor Acura wants you to come back and this service is a great showing of that. Your fender is still not aligned with your bumper. "Thats just a clip" said the one S.M., to which I would have said, "then fix the clip, fool". I would get the new wheel from Fox, maybe two since there are two marked up now. Nice that they're working to make that right too. Again, this is service which keeps customers.

    I mean do what you want, it's your car, BUT if it were me, I would start over with break in after the work they did, you want to seat everything properly by not overheating it or stressing it too much for the first 500 - 1000 miles.
    IMO this is what led to the leak in the first place, being a demo car, it was likely driven hard before you ever got it while it was still in break in would be my guess.
    I'm glad you are getting it sorted out, it would really bother me to have needed work this soon on a brand-new car, especially a Honda/Acura product.
    I am about to hit 2k miles on mine finally and loving everything about the car.

    We don't get a free maintenance package in Canada like you guys do for new cars so I typically get my car serviced every 7,000Km. I couldn't let my oil life get to 15% before changing it out especially owning a car long term. With that said I've given up on dealerships for just regular maintenance because they overcharge and don't care about your car at all (the ones I've been to) I take mine to a reputable mechanic shop and get service done for almost half the price.
    Only time I'll bring my car back to the dealer is for recalls or warranty work. Sucks you've had to deal with the mess the first dealership put you in but I'm glad you found one that made it right and hope you have good experiences from here on out, bad enough we gotta pay all this money for the cars and to maintain them, but to also deal with worrying about service departments messing up your car and blaming you in the process is unwarranted. We should be able to just relax and enjoy these fun cars we worked hard for!

    The main reason Honda/Acura wasn’t of much help is because the dealer and Acura are two separate entities. Acura can’t make the dealer fix a wheel that they screwed up. Now if this was a matter of a warranty concern then they could help. Acura of Troy basically is the middle man between you and the manufacturer and it’s the middle man who screwed up not Acura so in their eyes they don’t have to pay a dime. At this new dealer you actually got a technician who is passionate about what he/she does and a dealer who takes precautions and care about their customers. I’m glad you found the right dealer

  • @mattpipke5716

    This is a good lesson for everyone, when one dealer gives you shit, you use that when talking to other dealers, that puts them on notice that you already had an issue so they are going to most likely make sure you have a great experience with them, and they are going to try to do everything they can so you feel like this is the dealer for you, and why not, they see an opportunity, but you should too, knowing the problems you had, you can get these guys on your side from the get go, plus you have a channel which is power, good for you man.

    I watch the videos in sections, sorry, you asked about maintenance and do we use the dealers.
    A resounding Hell No, unless it is a recall or warranty work, absolutely not, I'll go for a diagnosis if it is a specialty kind of thing or software related, otherwise I do my oil changes, filters, and brake pads, Ill consider going when it is time to drain and replace fluids other than oil, like tranns, or radiator or brakes, and depending on quotes I get I still might use my mechanic, I have used the same shop for over 30 years and dozens of cars, I trust them and they do great work, so the only way I'm using an Acura dealership is as I said, warranty, recall,. special circumstances or software related work, anything else Ill either do myself or get prices from the dealer vs my mechanic if I can't do the work.
    The dealer not only has a ton of overhead to cover but also other expenses from the dealership they may try to make up for in repair bills, so I don't trust dealers because of how they are structed and I think any good shop capable of doing the work will likely charge less to do it, unless you need Acura specific diagnosis computers or something a regular mom and pop shop won't have access to, then you don't really have a choice.
