This will forever be an important landmark for Unova. It's the only place in the region where you can use Dive. To think they brought back a HM just for this goes to show that there was a lot of planning and passion here. Even in the anime this is the place where Meloetta once lived and protected the Reveal Glass of the Kami Trio.
@@LoreKeeperVG The issue isn't time, Gamefreak's development history has shown with games that don't build off the past thing struggle massively. Even non-Pokemon ones. You can see how unstable things were in yellow and tons of major balance over sights. They needed multiple gens to fix some of these things. You can even see how broken things got in Sword/Shield or Scarlet/Violet because of design shift or the balance issues in Arceus and exploits such as just not having your Pokemon fight the boss and just skip that fight segment by throwing stuff for a minute. Even these secrets follow this rule, they didn't start till gen 2 and got more complex but with a major shift in design these secrets stopped being a thing. It isn't Gamefreak needs time, they just aren't that good at implementing things. That being said more time would help, less crunch is good in general as well, but it is also very likely to let them go in the direction that causes problems.
@@Buglin_Burger7878the thing in arceus where you don’t have to send your pokemon in to battle the boss isn’t an exploit as far as I’m aware, you’re just intended to battle it with your pokemon. After all if they didn’t want to give people a choice but to fight it why wouldn’t they have just forced a battle, instead of allowing you to hit and then walking it up after some time.
I don’t think that the Abyssal ruins were built underwater, but perhaps the sea has risen since they were built. If we ever get a legends unova game, perhaps we may get more answers on who N’s ancestors were.
It's a possible option for sure, but it feels like the Abyssal Ruins were designed underwater if you take into account the mechanism to kick you out of the Ruins and to move up from each floor
@@LoreKeeperVG I always took that to indicate the ruins had some otherworldly power, not that they were built there. Even the anime shows the Abyssal Ruins were once above land.
@@LoreKeeperVG I would be very, very hesitant to believe an ancient civilization intentionally built a tomb underwater. It might have mechanics that work due to being underwater, but it makes more sense that it was sunk due to a later disaster. Given that the Twin Heroes’ sons resumed the fight and razed Unova to the ground, I’d say that’s a solid explanation for why both the Relic Castle and Abyssal Ruins are in the states that they are.
A friend pointed out an interesting thing with your theory. How does Ghetsis know all of this? How does he know the name? Why does he look like N without being his father? Easy. Harmonia is implied to be one of the twins. Ghetsis is descended from the OTHER brother, continuing the feud even to the modern day.
@LoreKeeperVG Sometimes I wonder if Ghetsis family line were specifically looking for that power that their ancestors held ao proudly, and because of this power slowly disappearing through the generations, that they were incredibly desperate to hold on and try to find different ways to bring it from their children. It'd make sense why Ghetsis has a disfigured body, and why hes so angry and bitter towards N. It could be that his pokemon disfigured him, of course. Or, it could be morphea, which is a body condition that paralyzes one side of the body. It could be that his family.....took to some unsavory methods to bring that gift back. Either ways, Ghetsis family line could have been the one that won out in terms of power and fame. Meanwhile, the other twin took to a more peaceful, quiet life. So unknown, that even their family forgot about their gifts, and when it was gound N had this gift, they either abandoned him, or were k!lled in some way.
My theory on Ghetsis’ arm relates to him saying he couldn’t be the hero. It’s possible that he tried to activate the light/dark stone and it scorched/shocked his arm because he wasn’t worthy.
X being the name of an N ancestor would maintain the math-musical motifs. Like n, x can be a stand-in for a variable, and in music, represents percussion rather than a defined note. Ghetsis's theme is full of percussion. As the movements of the player creating a percussion (the "Yoshi footsteps" I call it) that adds to the music.
@@LoreKeeperVG Agreed! Another thing about X- it can be read as Chi, which sounds like Key and brings to mind the tritone in Ghetsis's name- a G-Csharp.
Since Reshiram, Zekrom and Kyurem is related on Taoism, I think N's character is based on the concept "Mushin" which is the state of mind Taoist meditators attempt to achieve, wherein there is pure innocence and no knowledge of good and evil. This also translates to "no heart", which a term Ghetsis used to refer N. I think this is the one of the main reasons why Ghetsis recruit N as a King.
The Taoism is funny, because ive also heard Unova is basically supposed to a New England stand in. It does have _not so subtle_ references like Braveriary 😂. The fight between Truth and Ideals also sounds particularly American. I love how many interpretations we can make on these games over a decade later, these games are truly art
The history teacher in Scarlet/Violet has a dialogue in the DLC where she talks a lot about The Abyssal Ruins & its great mystery! She then says she went & found many great relics & the place is still shrouded in questions… foreshadowing if you ask meee
At first thought, it makes sense why N would be part of the Harmonia bloodline, given that he has the same powers as the ancient king of Unova (in an interview, Masuda confirmed that during development of the games it was planned for him to have the ability to see the future, but it was scrapped, likely because that would conflict with the plot twist revealing Ghetsis' true intentions). But how is it possible that Ghetsis' surname is also Harmonia? He doesn't have any of the special powers of the ancient king and doesn't get recognized by either Zekrom or Reshiram, so he can't possibly be part of the Harmonia bloodline. Well, Ghetsis is the one who found out about the Harmonia bloodline being the rightful royal family and its connection to the legendary dragon. As we also know, Ghetsis' original intention was to awaken Zekrom or Reshiram himself and use their power to rule the region, but had to step aside and let N take the crown of Team Plasma while he controlled the whole operation from the shadows. It is very possible that Ghetsis, before finding N and thinking he could befriend Zekrom/Reshiram himself, gave the Harmonia surname to himself. This theory is supported by his japanese name: G-Cis Harmonia. G-Cis, as we know, is a tri-tone, a combination of musical notes that sound horrible to the human ear. Tri-tones are, in other words, the opposite of harmony. G-Cis Harmonia is a play in words to indicate that Harmonia is not his real surname, but rather something he titled himself.
Hmm, considering what Ghetsis says to N after you beat him in the first game, I'm pretty sure Ghetsis also belongs to the Harmonia bloodline. However, the King had pure intentions with the ability to talk to Pokémon (as did N). Maybe Ghetsis could have used that ability, but his cruelty and corrupt truth and ideals prevented him from unlocking it. It's no coincidence to me that N and Ghetsis are not biological father and son, yet share the exact same hair colour. My theory is, Ghetsis and N are both relatives descendants of the Harmonia bloodline, but not father and son biologically. I believe that Ghetsis found N in the wild and realised he could've been a relative of his due to his ability to talk to Pokémon. Thus, Ghetsis took the chance to claim to be N's father and use him for his own purposes.
I think Terapagos's name being blacked out in the Scarlet/Violet book pre-DLC may be an intentional callback to the unknown symbols in the Abyssal Ruins.
It would be neat to see Legends-style games where you play as N's ancestor, and you can talk to every Pokemon. Instead of lots of random wild Pokemon, there would be pre-programmed Pokemon with character and dialogue, and you'd choose which to recruit for your team. Kinda like Mystery Dungeon only with Legends Arceus battling style.
The mention of 3000 years ago was likely due to its resemblance / inspiration of Pavlopetri, a sunken city off the coast of Greece that sank in a tsunami 3000 years ago. The ultimate weapon being from 3000 years ago is likely a combination of a few things rather than a true connection; the Carnac stones that Geosenge is based on has approximately 3000 standing stones and was built around 3000 BC. As for what even took place in Britain ~3000 years ago in reference to the Darkest Day, I do not know. It's possible they were hinted at being related as more games came out, though the use of 3000 in Japanese is used to refer to rare events that might never happen again; in reference to mythical udumbara trees which are said to only bloom flowers once every 3000 years.
Even though I'm not a big fan of modern pokemon, something that really excites me is the idea of a legends style game set in Unova. I've always wanted to know what the original, full dragon was like.
I love hearing theories about the Abyssal Ruins but I have also been SCREAMING about this line of thought for a DECADE. N/Ghetsis being related to the ancient king!! It helps shed some light on other things that are only implied and it honestly helps give Ghetsis more of a tangible reason for his atrocities; that he was a descendant of the ancient king as well and makes his frustration as being unable to awaken the legendary Pokemon himself a bit more personal, hence him formulating the plan to use N instead. Anyways, sorry for rambling, but like I said I love these theories and it's still so cool there's things we still haven't uncovered about the ruins yet. Excellent video, it scratched the brain quite well~ ♥️
This was great! I had no idea the abyssal ruins had such an interesting cypher! Goes to show there's always more to learn hidden beneath the surface of some of my favorite games
Another interesting thing, the tsunami could have likely been from the result of the weapon fired from Kalos into Paldea. If that's the case then it could have caused a tsunami and/or earthquake across the world.
Also, aren't we dealing with alternate universes at this point? Things like the Ultimate Weapon and the Great War didn't exist in BW/BW2 if Zinnia's theory is to be believed.
A friend of mine is a huge Unova fan, so ngl if he didn't knew about this how would I know? Hope the remakes flash this part a bit more, specially considering how this lore fits with Calyrex as some other dude here pointed out.
hopefully they will reveal the final piece of the puzzle they have been building since generation 4. So many links between all the games since gen 4 to gen 9 cant be a coincidence
@@AdamDawson3 Creation trio intro, Archeus theory finally being completed because of Terapagos, links between Unova and Paldea via Terastalization, Legends Arceus even existing, etc.
@@royalgelly8948 There is also another link, in x and y the great kalos war was unova, the events of the kings sons fighting over truths and ideals, dragon spiral tower being built, and even the relic copper, silver and gold, all being dated back 3000 years. It makes me wonder if the king was ever related to the royal family that Az hailed from due to unova being allies to kalos. If they were came to another eurpeon countries themed region royal family or from kalos that later moved to unova.
If it was connected to the Regis, I hope that they add a Water Regi in the Abyssal Ruins just like they randomly added Enamorus in a Gen 4 Spin off I always loved this area in Gen 5 and Relic Castle Maybe in Gen 5 remakes :(
Considering that this happened before the existence of the relic castle and the 2 brothers i always interpreted one of the hidden names to be the name of original dragon (Might not necessarily be a name in the sense of a pokemon name since as you said the spanish and english differentiation means it cant be, but maybe something along the lines of an epithet like "Drake". It's not a word in korean or japanese so phonetics would make it 4 characters, its just the romance languages that are messy with italian being the only one that technically works with drago). I do hope for further expansion on this cuz as a kid i always thought it was so cool how unova was treated historically like an inverse to the USA by having a deep and long lasting historical background with ancient civilizations. Great video friend!
Love the video! N is my favorite characters from Pokemon, and I really enjoy Unova. On that note, I always assumed the ruins were similar to todays ruins along the sea. Meaning as the sea level increased, they were engulfed in water. It's possible they didn't build the ruins under water, but instead that was a temple/important place where the king was/information was stored, and overtime it has sunk beneath the sea. Or possibly it's under water because of the tsunami mentioned, and the king just evacuated the people with the warning.
Yeah, maybe you are right. It could still be related to the tsunami, but built near the sea instead of on the seabed. What convinced me is that the mechanism to throw you away after X steps seems to work with water currents.
Having to swim up was what gave it away for me too. I think, based on the surroundings, that it the ruins may have been apart of something greater that was once above land, but I believe the tomb itself was built underwater. After all, most tombs are meant to be buried, it would be grand and interesting to "bury" a king underwater and have a complex puzzle system, to prevent possible tomb raiders.@@GreyVictory1510
The Abyssal Ruin when I saw the message that “there’s an extraordinary force approaching” I thought a legendary Pokemon like Lugia was contained within there or some new legendary Pokemon.
Three of the messages about the king on floor 0 are written in present tense (king *is* brave, king *is* kind, king *acts* with love,) but the fourth, king *fought* against hatred, talks about him in the past tense. It’s as if the tomb was being built during his life, perhaps because he was ill or was otherwise soon-to-die, and died during the construction of the tomb. How melancholic. Edit: this is also true on the later floors.
this makes me so happy that you're covering the abyssal ruins from black and white. I remember when i first found the ruins as a kid without internet at the time and being so scared through exploring it but so curious about why it existed but i don't hear alot of people talk about it. amazing video keep up the good work!
Hey just saying, i know this makes a lot of sense, but this king made me think... what if it was Calyrex? Or maybe another Calyrex? It is good and brave, it obviously is a king, can communicate with both Human and Pokemon and of course, it can see the future
That fits... Surprisingly good lol I don't think it has nothing to do with Calyrex (at least for the time being) but... Would be a pretty cool twist for a remake 👀
Indeed, i was honestly as surprised as you when i realized that! But hey, maybe it could be another Calyrex, but yeah, probably it was just N's ancestor, which makes me wonder... N can see the future...?"
Calyrex came to my mind as soon as I heard "KING can SEE the FUTURE" But like he stated, it can't be a Pokemon as the number of characters change between English and Spanish. Spanish uses the exact same names as English, with the only exceptions being Type: Null and the Paradoxes (for obvious reasons, given the nature of their "names"). Calyrex is just Calyrex in Spanish. Humans, however, always get a different name.
The original dragon connection makes the most sense to me, given N himself befriended at least 1 fragment of it's being. Depending on what version you're playing(B/W), N will befriend either Reshiram or Zekrom(he still has that one in B/W2). Something Ash does in the victini movie(s). Depending on which one he befriended N is recognised as a true hero of truth or ideals. This in game story point connects N to both the buried King and the Twin heroes of Unova. The symbols may refer to the king, his sons, the twin heroes and either the original dragon or the birth of N, who would be cast out of the family hence his heavy story in the games. Given the presence of Arceus's plates here it is possible N could have been sent to(at that point)future Unova in order to perhaps spare his life due to the war the twin heroes would start, by Arceus. But this is just my own speculation. Meaning if my speculation works out, this could set up a legends Kyurem/Unova as Arceus and N being present in the same place may prove to be the key to solving this puzzle.
Honestly and truly a marvel of a video! The fascinating and surprisingly impressive 3D editing, the humorously but well formed script and the suspense - the build up, everything comes together in this well crafted Pokémon Lore Video! I am a dedicated fan of Unova and gen 5 in general. This video sparks my joy and tickles my enthusiasm. May I say, your voice, it reminds me of Bill in the official english Dubbed Anime series. I like your melodic, sometimes tender and then serious tones really pleasant!
Now the question is, is really N the direct descendant of the king or it’s something made up by ghetsis to control unova? He found N in the woods, he saw he could talk with Pokemon and he gave him the name “harmonia” to made things work
I think it's already kinda explained in the B2/W2 storyline. N was abandoned in the woods (Ghetsis was the biological father, proceeds to abandon him). In a way, Ghetsis is the descendant of the King, but the true powers and so to say "heart" of the king, and the ability to speak to Pokèmon, was instilled in N. Then later, knowing this (he even admits it after you defeat N that he wasn't able to awaken the legendary Pokèmon, so he needed N to do it), so Ghetsis searches for N again, recruiting him and telling him that he is his father.
The only thing I really thought of while exploring the Abyssal Ruins was "I wonder if they changed the time limit to a tidal wave so there was no implication of a teenager almost drowning multiple times?" because you do spend minutes at a time down there with zero air pockets. Nate, Rosa, Hilda, and Hilbert must have lungs of freaking steel.
I really hope Legends Z-A or a Legends game set in Unova will talk more about this King or the two heroes of Unova. Thank you so much for making this video bro thank you
Okay, Gen V came out when I was in the peak of college, so it's the generation I am definitely weakest in lore-wise. How did I know nothing about this, though? I knew about the ruins, but I thought it was about as deep as the Unown ruins being all, "Yeah we're mystical, deal with it." I didn't know there was all this actual pointing back to the plot in-game.
to me, the biggest mystery of the ruins... is how da heck they are build. Pokemon is a magical world of wonder... but even for pokemon standards, building something underwater 3000 years ago seems... very unlikely. Even with the help of pokemon, the ruins are too tightly build and pricesely created to make sense as something that was build underwater. Alternatively, if it was build coastally and got flooded over the years... Not only does that mean unova used to be bigger, it also means they probably planned for it to get flooded, as it is still in great shape. But then the question arises of "how did the sea level raise SO much"
I always imagined a Legends Kyurem would feat both N’s and our character in BW’s ancestors to be the two kings. Just because I feel like Zekrom and Reshiram would recognize their descendants after 3.000 of years and that’s why they stood up with them. This video just basically confirms it lol. I have a strong feeling that Game Freak would totally follow that path in a game idk why
the other symbols may refer to the kings of other regions. Luckily we’ve already been told a good deal about them three kings too. AZ, calyrex and whatever paldea’s king was called are all candidates for these symbols but of course there’s no confirmation that they’re guarunteed to actually be represented by them
Hear me out. What if Ghetsis was also a descendant of the King? It is said that the king was righteous and could talk to all living beings, and naturally, his descendants would inherit his powers, but what if Ghetsis did not inherit them? I think that he wanted to claim his birthright which is Unova, since he is also a descendant of the king, but he could not, because there was nothing to prove he was a descendant, that is until he met N, who might be a distant relative. I don't think it is just a coincidence that both of their hair are green. Through N, Ghetsis would be able to reclaim Unova, his royal legacy. This is further supported by the words he uses. In french, in BW2 he uses "plèbe" which refers to common people, non noble people. It was mostly use by nobles, kings, queens and so on. He is also very harsh upon N, calling him a freak without a human heart, but I think he is just jealous that he did not inherit the powers. Alternatively, it is possible that Ghetsis had the powers, but lost them because he was not righteous, but that is unlikely.
The tomb had to be above ground at some point the amount of relics that have been discovered underwater now and have been proven to once be above ground many hundreds to thousands of years ago is staggering
I think the temple was built before the cataclysm. It would explain why it's in ruin. It could also be a reference to a structure people thought was a japaness underwater temple (Yonaguni). It's supposedly a geological structure but many people thought and think it was from an old civilisation and fell to the sea floor after the rise of water after the ice age (or sismic activity).
I love this kind of thing, I’m dying for them to expand on this and relic castle. I really hope we get a legends Unova game that explores both the future and past so we can have more context about king Harmonia, the legendary dragon and possibly connections to the paradox Pokémon with black city/white forest and the Opelucid cities. The future might also give us an opportunity to see blueberry academy again so that’d be nice.
Yooo this is awesome!! super HQ, and generally a fun watch :-) Also watched your decompilation video && I learnt a lot :D You deserve wayyy more recognition
Fantastic video! I always loved all the mysteries in the Pokemon games, starting with Gen 1's Mystery of Mew and the creation of Mewtwo. Gen 2's Ruins of Alph and the Mystery of Unown, the Burned Tower and Ho-Oh supposedly reviving Jolteon, Flareon and Vaporeon into the three Legendary Beasts, the Mystery of the GS Ball being the ball where you catch Celebi with. Gen 3's Regi Chambers and the first time we see space mentioned and all the Mystery surrounding Deoxys and the Mythical Pokemon that wakes up for seven days every thousand years and grants every wish imaginable. Gen 4's incredible lore expansion it brought to the Pokemon Universe, with the introduction of Pokemon that controlled Time and Space, Pokemon that created emotions, and the God of all Pokemon responsible for the creation of all we know and knew. Abyssal Ruins is just another amazing place full of mystery that I was never available to fully grasp and understand the meaning of. Thankfully this video enlightened me so much! Thank you so much
Great vid on one of my childhood Pokemon games. This brings back the kid in me and the awestruck about this mystery. One question: what was that closing song at the end of the vid? It sounds quite beautiful and would love to know if you have the name.
If they just said that the vases were 10000-20000 years ago this would make much more sense, I mean, it was canonically an ice age in unova at the time. This would mean that it was built into carved ice more than built underwater
Yeah, when I was younger didn't even know there were several floors lol But it's such an amazing attention to detail that I miss think kind of things in the newer gens.
@@LoreKeeperVG Yeah, I wonder why they don't anymore and if they'll add things like that back in future games? I hope so for people who want that stuff back.
Wow this was an amazing video! I've always loved the mystery behind Abyssal Ruins but this has given me a whole new perspective. I also liked the Professor Layton music being used xD
good video thank you. i too hope ruins, expensive cave system and dungeons return to pokemon. it sad that the only thing that came close to one in scarlet/violet base game was that seaside cave with the green moss. sure area zero was nice but it more like the central mystery rather then a side figure out the answer ruin.
the relic crown matches n crown in the first game cutsene. this highlights a somewhat (keyword somewhat) sympathy for ghetsis for being obsessed with the unovan legends trying to befriend the dragon (maybe he was a more compassionate person) but the rejection scarred him to the fiend he is now. turning his attitude into accepting nothing but perfection, warping his perception of pokemon as just tools ,manipulating the hearts of people and his clothes which were the most king looking thing in team plasma ( fancy robes and the castle collar) and learning to manipulte peoples hearts... he is trying to be the king of the legends and why it breaks him when a random trainer that the other dragon chose beats him. i see him grooming n to be the hero and take the dragon from him is his way of resentment to life(he probably knew n could be a real decendant of the hero, he could befriend the legendary dragon and talk to pokemon). he is everything he isnt and why he renounces and lashes out when he rejects his plans and when he shows compassion to him its too much for him a reminder he is a true hero and not a phony like he is
Yeah, it's an option, but what makes me think they could have been built underwater is that they seem designed to work underwater (a water current kicks us out of them, and a water current moves us to each floor).
I feel like its like a tomb of sorts for not just the king, but for something else entirely. I'm not sure what else it could be for but I know for certain that at the beginning of the level from where you first step is a "button trap". It specifically says you hear a click, and the sound itself is mechanical. Its designed to push you out it you exceed a certain amount of steps, (497?) But it doesnt depend on time. It makes me think the place tallies your steps along the way. Plus, it looks like N's cube. Whcih was originally designed by the creaters of the game to act as a mathematical puzzle before scrapping the idea altogether. I wonder what this could have all meant before Abyssal ruins was left forgotten?
@@LoreKeeperVG I didn't know that- So, fair. Unless they just want you to think it wasn't the weapon. (I don't know, haven't finished the dlc yet). I'll find out.
@@LoreKeeperVG I might have forgotten then. Either way it's odd it's in a similar timeframe to firing the weapon(the tsunami is in that timeframe that is). Also with all the paradoxes who's to say the impact didn't get deflected to the past somehow to cause the crater that was always there thus ending the poke dinosaurs and causing the future that ended them? -Just kidding. That would be weird if the paradoxes were that deep. Maybe just firing the weapon caused the tsunami? Edited.
Hey theres another reason the Abyssal Ruins are underwater: 3000 years is enough time for water levels to rise (i think), and that could be why they are underwater. A lot more reasonable then asking humans and Pokemon to build a tomb underwater
Yeah, it's an option, but what makes me think they could have been built underwater is that they seem designed to work underwater (a water current kicks us out of them, and a water current moves us to each floor).
It seems the ruins implies the history of the king of Unova, the one who had two twin princes as his sons who end fighting each other, dividing the original dragon that used to belong to their father. And the unknown symbols might actually refer the original name of said dragon Pokémon, with a different title at the time. Said king seems to have defeated the Pokémon, befriend that Pokémon, and maybe when the Pokémon separated itself the king decided to renamed them again.
What's also interesting is that Ghetsis' last name is also Harmonia... In fact, Ghetsis gave N the last name of Harmonia. Something else to consider in the lore
this is why i said i hope we get a black and white sequel instead of a remake. there's mysteries still undiscovered in gen 5. like the true dragon of zekrom, reshiram, and kyurem fused.
Could you please investigate why Sendoff Spring the 4th Lake of Sinnoh doesn't have a guardian like the other 3 lakes do I have always thought that the Guardian of Sendoff Spring was the leader of Uxie, Mespirit and Azelf I also want to know why Sendoff Spring was known as the 4th Lake of Sinnoh that was kept a Secret but please investigate this.
Could it be they where originally planning to remake Ruby and Sapphire for gen 5? To me it is so weird they brought back Dive as a HM move, and took a lot of afford to code in a dive mechanic, for that one tomb. But due to some circumstances they decided to make Black and White 2 instead, or made gen 6 earlier. I can imagine they where planning to also expand Hoenn to somehow connect it toe Unova. Maybe the King was the one who calmed Raquaza? and the 2 dragons of Unova are somehow related to Requaza?
Dang. great to see things actually lay out like that. I thought N was connected because of the ceremony and crown, but that was about it. never got around to reading all the text. and i only knew of the crown cause i looked up the item list for the ruins.
I remember as i kid i would dive down and just search this place for hours looking for a secret legendary or something, thank you for making this video, subbed 👍🏻
2 things... 1.Ghetsis and N are both Harmonia Gropius... N is the 'natural' one. 2.We already know who the kings are from the sunken castle AND the desert castle... AND the 'Unova king', AND the 4th king... 😅 It all comes together... most of you are taking longer to put the pieces together...
If we do get a Legends-style game set in Unova, I don't think it'll answer the mystery of the Abyssal Ruins. One thing I have noticed with the games, especially in recent years, is that we don't get concrete answers to many of the big mysteries. Look at Legends Arceus, for example. Going into the game, there were many mysteries from DPPt, such as the Solaceon Ruins, Spiritomb, and pretty much everything to do with Arceus. And throughout the game, we are left with more mysteries. Not only were the mysteries I mentioned only slightly touched upon with not much in the way of answers being given, but we also learn of an even older lost civilisation and all the questions that entails. I also don't think they'd have a game that is a whole 3,000 years in the past. Legends Arceus would be roughly 200-300 years ago, and even then a lot of the staples of the franchise such as pokeballs and battling are relatively new
unrelated but i love the use of the track that play in meteor falls. that place is arguably the first ive encounted that left that mysterious but foreboding impression on me, only to not really be anything special LOL. i get that same vibe from areas like this. very mysterious, but ultimately just a nice cherry on top for worldbuilding and not as significant to the current story on hand.

😮
I don’t think that the Abyssal ruins were built underwater, but perhaps the sea has risen since they were built. If we ever get a legends unova game, perhaps we may get more answers on who N’s ancestors were.
It's a possible option for sure, but it feels like the Abyssal Ruins were designed underwater if you take into account the mechanism to kick you out of the Ruins and to move up from each floor
@@LoreKeeperVG I always took that to indicate the ruins had some otherworldly power, not that they were built there. Even the anime shows the Abyssal Ruins were once above land.
The anime has a different canon than the games, I wouldn't take it as definitive proof.
They totally could. If they’re going in order and gen 4 was the last one, a gen 5 legends game would be amazing
True, another option is that he didn't have the king's powers like N because he wasn't worthy
I think the best theoru and it was mentioned in this video actually is that AZ was one of the heroes and that Unova and Kalos were somehow connected
@@fatguyalphiiConsidering the statues in X & Y of Reshiram & Zekrom it also could have just been an elaborate way of teasing X & Y.
Interesting that one of the ruins says 'primes lead the way', as in N's theme the first four arpeggios correspond to the first 8 prime numbers
I almost wrote about that but I wasn't sure, happy to know it was true :)
@@LoreKeeperVG I'm sure you were :)
Would be a cool detail!
Foreshadowing or a callback we will have to wait to see
Ok I have to see that dialogue now
Woah seriously!!?
Yes!! And I highly recommend everyone hunt that dialogue, the way she says all of it is even kinda off lol
@@jacoblyvers1598 wait what?? Does she say that when you invite her in Blueberry Academy?
I'll upload a Short about that in the following weeks, because I think I've solved it 👀
Paldea and unova are linked and connected someway apart from the indigo disk.
This video needs more views so badly. No one ever talks about the Abyssal ruins and I think about it like every other day
If we get a Legends Unova, many more people will talk about them, for sure 👀
It would be neat to see Legends-style games where you play as N's ancestor, and you can talk to every Pokemon. Instead of lots of random wild Pokemon, there would be pre-programmed Pokemon with character and dialogue, and you'd choose which to recruit for your team. Kinda like Mystery Dungeon only with Legends Arceus battling style.
A game in which you could speak with Pokémon would be so cool tbh
This would be sick
Somebody get this pitch to Game Freak rn, I’d pay so much for it
That would require effort, though
Playing as N’s mute ancestor while N talks fast and non stop sounds like so much fun
Look up xyz affair and the war after it between America and France. It was called a pirates war 👀
See this is why I really want a legends unova game. I feel unova has one of the richest histories of a region along side sinnoh
I think the translation of the "----- joined the king in a day" will be deciphered when the original dragon is revealed.
I miss this kind of little secrets
Another interesting thing, the tsunami could have likely been from the result of the weapon fired from Kalos into Paldea. If that's the case then it could have caused a tsunami and/or earthquake across the world.
I mean, now we know that AZ's weapon wasn't what created Area Zero, if that's what you're talking about
Also, aren't we dealing with alternate universes at this point? Things like the Ultimate Weapon and the Great War didn't exist in BW/BW2 if Zinnia's theory is to be believed.
I think it’s more likely that the tsunami was caused by the meteor that created giant chasm
@@LoreKeeperVG I didn't get that far in the DLC yet 😭
If the weapon hit paldea then paldea and area zero would be more well known
Wonderful as always! This gets me incredibly excited for a potential Gen 5 game, hopefully legends style. I would love a medieval Unova!
A Legends Unova from 3000 years ago would be so cool!
A friend of mine is a huge Unova fan, so ngl if he didn't knew about this how would I know? Hope the remakes flash this part a bit more, specially considering how this lore fits with Calyrex as some other dude here pointed out.
Yeah, they have something really cool to expand on. (Hope they don't do the same as with the Solaceon Ruins in Legends Arceus...)
hopefully they will reveal the final piece of the puzzle they have been building since generation 4. So many links between all the games since gen 4 to gen 9 cant be a coincidence
Hopefully!
What links are you referring to
@@AdamDawson3 Creation trio intro, Archeus theory finally being completed because of Terapagos, links between Unova and Paldea via Terastalization, Legends Arceus even existing, etc.
@@royalgelly8948that isn't explaining anything, this is a series of buzzwords that tells us nothing.
If it was connected to the Regis, I hope that they add a Water Regi in the Abyssal Ruins just like they randomly added Enamorus in a Gen 4 Spin off
I always loved this area in Gen 5 and Relic Castle
Maybe in Gen 5 remakes :(
Considering that this happened before the existence of the relic castle and the 2 brothers i always interpreted one of the hidden names to be the name of original dragon (Might not necessarily be a name in the sense of a pokemon name since as you said the spanish and english differentiation means it cant be, but maybe something along the lines of an epithet like "Drake".
This screams legends game to me, seriously, a legends game elaborating on the ruins would be insane.
100%, could be one of the coolest parts of that game 🤞
@@LoreKeeperVG you also need to doive up to newer layers. There is nonstone ladder. Which would also fit it being designed to be underwater.
@@GreyVictory1510 True!
Having to swim up was what gave it away for me too. I think, based on the surroundings, that it the ruins may have been apart of something greater that was once above land, but I believe the tomb itself was built underwater. After all, most tombs are meant to be buried, it would be grand and interesting to "bury" a king underwater and have a complex puzzle system, to prevent possible tomb raiders.@@GreyVictory1510
as a gen 5 nerd myself, I'm glad to see someone actually cover the abyssal ruins and their implications
Edit: this is also true on the later floors.
you do great pokemon theories, thats so good to see nowadays
I feel like the original Dragon should be called 'Harmonia'
That would be such a COOL name!
The specified date makes me think that they're linking the Ultimate Weapon's blast wave to the tsunami.
this makes me so happy that you're covering the abyssal ruins from black and white. I remember when i first found the ruins as a kid without internet at the time and being so scared through exploring it but so curious about why it existed but i don't hear alot of people talk about it. amazing video keep up the good work!
The use of professor layton’s puzzle music warmed my heart!
🧩
The insinuation is that the king was human and was one of the Twin Heroes. It’s interesting that he shares the same powers of Calyrex though.
Calyrex came to my mind as soon as I heard "KING can SEE the FUTURE"
But like he stated, it can't be a Pokemon as the number of characters change between English and Spanish. Spanish uses the exact same names as English, with the only exceptions being Type: Null and the Paradoxes (for obvious reasons, given the nature of their "names").
Calyrex is just Calyrex in Spanish.
Humans, however, always get a different name.
Indeed but hey, what if this Calyrex had some kind of title or nickname? You know, like Ursaluna known as the Bloodmoon Beast
This is by far my favorite area in any Pokemon game I’ve ever played. The atmosphere and the air of mystery is honestly unmatched.
It's a pretty special place. I think my favourite Pokémon location are Ruins of Alph, but this one is pretty close.
5 MINUTES INTO ONE VIDEO FROM U AND I AM OFFICIALLY OBSESSED WITH YOUR CHANNEL! Love your work, Lore Keeper!
Thank you so much! Glad you are liking the channel ❤️
Thank you so much for making this video bro thank you
I love how well edited this is
Thanks! :)
“Dive into Pokémon’s deepest lore” was a great line
Thanks! :) Originally, this Channel was going to be called "Deepest Lore"
You're videos have great clarity, great work!
Thank you :)
With the upcoming legends za game and the next remake in the list being unova this video gives me a whole lot of ideas
Legends unova HAS to happen, PLA gave so much backstory to sinnoh and i can’t even imagine what they would do with unova
Yeah, it's pretty amazing! I also didn't know it before researching for the video
to me, the biggest mystery of the ruins... is how da heck they are build.
But then the question arises of "how did the sea level raise SO much"
0:46 Am I the only one that didn't know there was an upper floor?
I didn't know it either, you're not alone
For just under 4K followers, you have incredible good audio quality. Keep up the amazing content 👍🏻
Thank you! Just starting here :)
I always imagined a Legends Kyurem would feat both N’s and our character in BW’s ancestors to be the two kings. Just because I feel like Zekrom and Reshiram would recognize their descendants after 3.000 of years and that’s why they stood up with them. This video just basically confirms it lol. I have a strong feeling that Game Freak would totally follow that path in a game idk why
woah i had no idea.
this was an extremly nice watch, i hope you do more mysteries like this in the future
the other symbols may refer to the kings of other regions. Luckily we’ve already been told a good deal about them three kings too. AZ, calyrex and whatever paldea’s king was called are all candidates for these symbols but of course there’s no confirmation that they’re guarunteed to actually be represented by them
I still think they fit better with something related to the original dragon, but that's a cool option for sure
I love the esoteric vibes of Generation 5 and its Pokemon/lore lol.
13ish years on and i'm still finding more reasons to love the game
That's when you know they are really good ones 👀
Maybe there is a connection between Relic Crown and Meloetta's Relic Song.
I think that if that was the case, Meloetta's event would have had something here
Yooo this is awesome!! super HQ, and generally a fun watch :-) Also watched your decompilation video && I learnt a lot :D You deserve wayyy more recognition
I always thought you could find Kyogre or Lugia in there.
this video is incredibly well edited and put together. It's amazing work! please keep it up!!
I always thought it revolved around regigigas but they ended up not doing anything with it like the azure flute event
I could see that connection due to the similarity to the Regis chambers tbh
If they just said that the vases were 10000-20000 years ago this would make much more sense, I mean, it was canonically an ice age in unova at the time. This would mean that it was built into carved ice more than built underwater
But it doesn't though, 3000 years ago from the b2/w2 was the time when the dragon spiral tower was constructed.
Great video! I haven’t played through the Unova games and this was brand new to me. Loved it!
You should! They are games with great attention to detail, so if you liked this puzzle, you'll for sure find more of that in those games :)

it sad that the only thing that came close to one in scarlet/violet base game was that seaside cave with the green moss. sure area zero was nice but it more like the central mystery rather then a side figure out the answer ruin.
Nice video, I always wondered what was the mystery of the underwater ruins
Keep it up!
Thank you! :)
the relic crown matches n crown in the first game cutsene.
this highlights a somewhat (keyword somewhat) sympathy for ghetsis for being obsessed with the unovan legends trying to befriend the dragon (maybe he was a more compassionate person) but the rejection scarred him to the fiend he is now.
turning his attitude into accepting nothing but perfection, warping his perception of pokemon as just tools ,manipulating the hearts of people and his clothes which were the most king looking thing in team plasma ( fancy robes and the castle collar) and learning to manipulte peoples hearts... he is trying to be the king of the legends and why it breaks him when a random trainer that the other dragon chose beats him.
i see him grooming n to be the hero and take the dragon from him is his way of resentment to life(he probably knew n could be a real decendant of the hero, he could befriend the legendary dragon and talk to pokemon). he is everything he isnt and why he renounces and lashes out when he rejects his plans and when he shows compassion to him its too much for him a reminder he is a true hero and not a phony like he is
I'd say Abyssal Ruins where mostly like at one time land that wasn't underwater but was later flooded by a tsunami.
I'm thinking the ultimate weapon hitting paldea from kalos made a tsunami that flowed across the sea to hit Unova.
I mean, now we know that AZ's weapon wasn't the cause of Area Zero
@@LoreKeeperVG I didn't know that- So, fair. Unless they just want you to think it wasn't the weapon. (I don't know, haven't finished the dlc yet). I'll find out.
Already in the base games we are told that the crater is around 1M years old
@@LoreKeeperVG I might have forgotten then. Edited.
The Ultimate Weapon probably didn't exist in the original BW timeline. Remember, the Mega Evolution timeline is not the same as the original timeline.
Bro, this channel is criminally underated. Great video, best wishes!
Iremember using a map and tracing my steps on it to get every relic. This is the only game I ever did that. I love black and white.❤
I hope this place makes an appearance in the inevitable legends game for Unova
Hey theres another reason the Abyssal Ruins are underwater: 3000 years is enough time for water levels to rise (i think), and that could be why they are underwater. A lot more reasonable then asking humans and Pokemon to build a tomb underwater
Yeah, it's an option, but what makes me think they could have been built underwater is that they seem designed to work underwater (a water current kicks us out of them, and a water current moves us to each floor).
@@LoreKeeperVG fair, but wouldn't that current possibly be made by a hi-power wind or something? Random shot in the dark
I fell for so many spoofs surrounding this area, so much so that I ended up actually memorizing the layout completely subconsciously.
What if the symbols are the Treasure of Ruin in the hieroglyphs? Cause the fish and the snail looking thing look like Chi-Yu and Wo Chien
I don't see the resemblance tbh
At first glance I don't know if there's much to investigate, but I'll take a look at it 👀
@@LoreKeeperVGit's just giratina being anti matter
Could it be they where originally planning to remake Ruby and Sapphire for gen 5? To me it is so weird they brought back Dive as a HM move, and took a lot of afford to code in a dive mechanic, for that one tomb. But due to some circumstances they decided to make Black and White 2 instead, or made gen 6 earlier.
I can imagine they where planning to also expand Hoenn to somehow connect it toe Unova. Maybe the King was the one who calmed Raquaza? and the 2 dragons of Unova are somehow related to Requaza?
Idk, I don't feel like Unova has too much to do with Hoenn, and that gen already had Gen 2 remake
Extremely well put together video, awesome stuff, never even knew about the Abyssal Ruins and now I'm extremely interested.
Thank you! It's was a pretty interesting topic to dive in 👀
This just got me excited for a Legends: Unova game
I just hope we don't get another Solaceon Ruins
Dang. great to see things actually lay out like that.
It all comes together... most of you are taking longer to put the pieces together...
Who are they?
Legends Arceus would be roughly 200-300 years ago, and even then a lot of the staples of the franchise such as pokeballs and battling are relatively new
unrelated but i love the use of the track that play in meteor falls. that place is arguably the first ive encounted that left that mysterious but foreboding impression on me, only to not really be anything special LOL.
i get that same vibe from areas like this. very mysterious, but ultimately just a nice cherry on top for worldbuilding and not as significant to the current story on hand.
i've tried looking into the abyssal ruins myself when i got black at like 13yo but didn't really get anywhere
Now is the time to revisit them then 👀
I love to see your videos! It would be great to see the one about Arceus, the Plates and the Gigants in english too!
This year is the year of the Pokémon Theory of Everything 👀
A lot of unsolved secrets in Nintendo games in general. Since they never carry ideas over to the next games
